Ye good pod, getting mentions on so many shows in the season, you've been getting more on those list making a big seasonal fan like me happy. I think this season was a little lacking, I would say Spring 2024 was the super stacked for me, Winter carried on Dangers in my Heart S2 and Sign of Affection, Summer was a in between of having a couple more good shows, Makiene was top tier, I'm behind on Oshi No Ko but I've been enjoying the half I've watch of S2. I did watch some quick mention shows, I watched Mayonaka and I think a very good show, mostly fun comedy with vampires being content brained but actually can do some nicer serious things, I also think it teaching good editing philosophy at points. I really like their studio P.A. Works and I always have a my eye locked in for originals. Senpai is an Otokonoko was pretty solid, I have more to complain about it because it's an amazing concept but the animation is extremely lackluster and it's buried is very weak comedy. When it engages in the serious conflicts of the characters choice of identity and how it affects them and others around them is great, but the show meanders and you spend a lot of time with stuff I'm not really engaged with.
But it's a real shame that nobody is given mention to is Dead Dead Demons DededeDestruction, which is my favorite Summer Anime. (It might technically count as spring as it started on May 24, but it didn't start with the normal airing list and the majority of it aired over the Summer season, Anilist calls it Summer and MAL doesn't have it labeled being an ONA release) It's just so different from everything else coming out and I think this strong contrast of the Japanese government and commercial entitys having crazy plans for creating machine for a crazy war while we just follow two girls who are living a generally normal life. I think it gives you a from above look at overall politics, into laissez-faire worldview, the strong drives of activist groups, and just a somewhat satire of how higher ups might handle a sensitive situation. It's not perfect but it's so different in what it covers thematically then everything else. It really surprised me how little attention it got, but hey going to put in the fight into getting it recognized.
