    Thank you so much for Enable Proximity - one of my most played games and I never knew this option existed.

    Nice job with a few thousand hours in the game I couldn’t of put it better myself with the exception of the plumbing and ventilation I felt it was a little rushed but as a general overveiw was well done just imo if ppl are interested I think a little tutorial on its own for the piping as it is a very important part of the game.

    Something I do early on to control stress is to give the dupes bath time before +4 boost from downtime. So long as you avoid adding a recreational room and block the dupes from standing near the printer pod they will continue to work during their downtime. This also gives them plenty of time to go to the bathroom and eat before resuming their work.
    Something I like to do is stack 2 mesh doors on both sides of the pod. The top doors on both stacks allow dupes to get out, but not in. The bottom doors are on a cycle sensor, locking them during the dupes downtime. Before you have the sensor you can just manually choose when to allow them access and just build a way for them to walk around the pod if need be.

    • @engineertroy_
      @engineertroy_  3 месяца назад

      Interesting! I’m assuming they all have to be on the same schedule, right? Thanks for the comment!

    • @tregrenos8615
      @tregrenos8615 3 месяца назад

      @@engineertroy_ If the printing pod cannot be accessed at all you can do this for any schedule. So long as the dupes cannot stand around doing nothing near the pod or in a rec room they'll continue to work during their downtime.
      Since I run small colonies I tend to keep my dupes on a single schedule, so during their normal work time I use a cycle sensor to keep a door open or locked in case I need access to the pod.

    4:00-ish: I think it was worth mentioning to pick duplicants with many interests so they need less morale when getting these skills

      Good point! I generally try to pick duplicants with many interests but I neglected to mention it. Thanks for suggesting that!

      I dont knew for me i do like to have my dups have one or two interests at most
      I would rather have dups that are very good at a specific thing and deal with the moral by putting a natural park and a great hall with a phone and a cooler and any plant that gives this pink germs
      But i guess everyone has his way that he prefers

    6:10 Another schedule trick - because if dupes don't need to use the bathroom, they simply treat bathroom time blocks like work time blocks we can greatly reduce the toilets needed in a colony- this is especially useful in space missions, where build space is highly restricted.
    You can set it so that it's just bathroom, downtime, and sleep for the dupes to use the washroom just whenever they need to (bladder > 60%) and ones available. This can greatly lower the demand for the number of toilets and sinks you'll need to build, as dupes would naturally space out their pee breaks so that the toilet is always busy. Well, busy with some leeway, we don't want any accidents because Meeps missed his 25 second pee break window after all.
    Depending on how bold you feel, you can go as crazy as 1 toilet for 15 dupes
    However, make sure you turn off auto disinfect, as they will prioritize disinfecting over work tasks during bathroom time, which can waste a lot of dupe labour for basically no gain.
    For reduced travel time for bathroom breaks, consider building small 4x4 bathrooms throughout the colony, and near either major pathways or areas where dupes tend to gather (industrial brick, farm bricks, rec areas that sort of thing)

    05:34 secret unlocked ;p
    Getting priorities and schedules fixed early on for every dupe pays off fast!
    First research should always be farming. Insulated tiles around your farm area or starting area to keep that sweet spot of 20°C. Keep heat generating buildings away! For Oxygen either spam Algae, or if you start having more than 6 Dupes offgas Polluted Water with deodorizers. Shouldn't worry about elecrtolyzer build until you are ready to build your first atmo suits.

    Point of clarity... (at 0:35 ish) As I understand it, you can only pick the traditional ONI game by clicking on 'deactivate DLC'. Clicking on the 'classic' option in asteroid style just gives you a bigger map, closer to or maybe equal to the size of the base game's asteroids. You still are playing the DLC, with various elements not included in the base game (e.g. radiation) and the spaced out tech tree. I'm not absolutely confident of this because... I own the DLC but I've barely played it.

    • @wattj2
      @wattj2 3 месяца назад

      (in the base game, the same dialogue offers only 'classic' and 'labs')

    • @elilewis8212
      @elilewis8212 3 месяца назад +1

      Yes. This is what it is. Classic is larger asteroids, not as "space" orientated... DLC is smaller asteroids, making the game more of a "space" focus by making you go there quicker

    For example transitioning from a base with outhouses to a plumbed system?

    You dont need that much toilets. Your dupes will split between going to eat and going to toilet then they switch roles. So you need half only

    • @engineertroy_
      @engineertroy_  Месяц назад

      Fair point! But what if they have a full bladder at the same time, albeit probably a fringe case? I swear dupes actively try to find a reason to make a mess sometimes! 😂
