    About 2 years ago I bought a manual 130 version of one of these, based on my own findings and reviews including this one. I can confirm the car has been an absolute joy to own. I'm 6'2" btw 😄

    The interior is so French, it's stylish, elegant with touch of vintage and i really like the color scheme, it fees like I'm in a fashion show or something (if that makes sense)

    • @patriotbarrow
      @patriotbarrow 6 лет назад +2

      Too bad material quality is not quite up to German levels of refinement.. I have a C3 Picasso and I love it to bits; my only gripe is the cheap interior materials on the doors.

    • @Hvitserk67
      @Hvitserk67 6 лет назад +6

      The germans are also forced (due to high labour cost) to reduce the quality of the interior materials. In that respect check out the new VW T-Roc and Polo. It's not much better than you'll find in similar priced french cars.

    • @desroin
      @desroin 6 лет назад +1

      Hvitserk the polo is a good comparison since it comes out at a similar price point if you go up the trim levels and extras

    • @MrSherhi
      @MrSherhi 5 лет назад +3

      I think Cactus is better than Polo, it certainly has more room in the cabin and is much more comfortable (probably the most comfortable and affordable hatchback). +1.2 Puretech engine has proven itself to be reliable and cheap to maintain.

    A nice balance in your words, as always, Thomas. Congrats!
    I own the previous version of Cactus and I like its design, more than the actual one. I still find people looking around the car, and sticking their faces on the windows, to see the interior...which I only seen when I brought home the new Skoda Superb, Laurin & Clement. I love my Cactus, but I would put on it the new automatic gear box, the new safety features, as emergency brake system and blind spot monitoring. Over all, the Citroen, and especially a C4 Cactus, is a daring choice. My friends criticized me when I bought it, but when they came on board, they were impressed by the over all feeling and by the design. This car gives you the feeling of being in holiday, even when you are driving to the grocery....which I never feel till now, in more than 30 years of driving and countless driven cars.
    Looking forward to watching more reviews, Thomas! Keep it like this!
    Dan

    Such a good Driving Part (as always with Thomas), with views looking forward. Glad that you liked what they've done with the suspension, giving a good ride for a small car. Like the interior material choice and contrasting colours, especially for the price. Shame about the seat long-term comfort, and transmission quirk! Many thanks for your videos Thomas, and all your hard work.

    Sorry I'm late to the party! I just put my Camaro to sleep for the winter (Finland), and dusted off my c4. I remember you did a very positive review of the 2016 c4 (not Cactus version), and you gave it a thumbs up. I thought 'phew' glad I chose correctly. My 2016 red c4 automatic only has 12000 kms so it even still smells new. Anyway at the small rate I won't be in the market for years I think. YOUR reviews are great & objectivity is mature & professional. Thank you

    Great review Thomas! I was waiting for this review. Fell in love with the Cactus when I did an extensive test drive myself and ordered one as my next car (will hopefully arrive the coming week ).
    I think the car is great value for money and with the new suspension... that's simply no compromise this car does not even attempt to fake being "sporty" which IMHO is what makes this car different.
    Furthermore it is actually rather practical, mine will be in platinum grey (dark grey) with chrome colour package, 110 horse power engine and automatic gear box.

      Thanks! I think I will. Thing is I'm not quite as tall (only 1.75m) which also makes me the tallest person in my family. I guess that's why I never had any issues with head and legspace in most car (used to sit in the rear of an old C2 for more than 300km without big issues).
      Another thing I noticed is due to the progressive nature of the suspension it appears to give a more stable base on higher speeds while being quite rolly in lower speed situations. That's rather interesting tbh and rather unique in the compact segment.

    Now that I have my Cactus I'm loving it to death lol. One thing to note though the panoramic roof does not seem to heat up the car at all. Matter of fact I feel like the Cactus stays cooler than any other car with a normal roof we have here which is rather amazing.
    The only downsides of this car really are the poor processing in some areas like accelerating in 4th gear with the automatic causes some vibrations that make it into the car when you stretch it.
    Then again it is so affordable, looks great and has all the elemental features you'd expect for a modern car in 2018 without breaking the bank.

      As for the automatic gearbox, I was really disappointed by it in the C3 Aircross and they are the same type. I am hoping they will ditch it and just use the new 8 speed which they are putting in the 508 and other FWD cars. The older generation Aisin AM6 on the C5 and 407, 607 etc was much smoother. Not sure what happened with the newer Aisin EAT6. It is very rough shifting.

    Just found your channel and subscribed. Excellent, buzzword-free reviews :-D
    I currently have a 2016 120bhp Peugeot 2008 which will be up for changing in a few months. I've been very happy with the Pug, love the small steering wheel, but fancy a change and have been struck (not literally) by the Citroen Cactus 130bhp petrol. Yes, I'm considering moving away from diesel after many years due to the recent fracas over emissions.
    Being just shy of 6ft, I really like the look and feel of the new Cactus and I'm keen to go the comfort route. I've compared your reviews of the 2008 & Cactus and got the impression you have more warmth for the Citroen? How would you compare the two?
    Cost is a factor as well - I could shave a few £s off by getting the Cactus without reducing the specification.
    Maybe this is a right hand drive 'feature', but the passenger side in the Cactus has quite a steeply angled footwell - not sure if that's good or bad.
    In any case, I look forward to viewing many more of your in-depth reviews.

    Citroen jumps from pillar to post, the previous Citroen was simplified and designed to be cheap to maintain, hence the non hydraulic suspensions, and now there going in the opposite direction? I was going to upgrade my cactus to a newer one, but not now, they have completely destroyed its character ( Honda next for me)

    • @stephen10.
      @stephen10. 6 лет назад +1

      this new suspensions is almost as cheap as a normal suspension. it s not hydraulic but new kind of "doubled" damper more efficient than simple damper.
      There is one damper but inside there is a double system or double hydraulic loop. Not easy to explain ...

    • @stephen10.
      @stephen10. 6 лет назад +1

      it's almost as effective as hydraulics suspension

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  6 лет назад +2

      it is somewhat hydraulic but not entirely as u said, thats why they call it hydraulic cushions.

    • @desroin
      @desroin 6 лет назад +1

      The main difference is that there are several stages with differently sized ports to press the hydrolic oil (which also exists in most standard suspension just with only one hole and one stage) in the dampeners. Hence the term "progressive". This means you can have a longer and softer spring way with the dampeners acting progressively against it.
      It's actually pretty simple and allows an otherwise way too long and soft suspension to give a smooth ride. You can even feel it if you go slow into a harder turn how the soft spring catches on the dampener.

    Sorry mister, u are not specialist on Cactus C4, i own this car, and is luxus! U speak about plastic, haha, what about BMW? Look at the expensive tree they use over the speaker on the door, and the car has stop and start, he show which gear is the best when driving, he has fingerprint in door, he lock the mirror when u leave, close door, he has camera, he has warning if u change file or come close too a wall or other, he has progressive steering when u drive fast, not as u do, over 70 km/t its become more hard, in city light, and lot of other tools, and u can see everything on screen about u car, and good GPS, remember is not a expensive car but he has more than many BMW!!! And u drive on highway and can not drive faster than 100km/t? The car is very good in 140 km/t and more.... dont worry! U say much good about the car, but u miss much too be professional
