Rough opal from the Heart of Australia - Cuts 2 beautiful gems

- A customer bought this rough opal a few years ago for $800 and never had the confidence to cut the uncut gem. It just sat on his shelf so he came to me a month ago and said I really don't want to cut it and will probably ruin the gem. I offered a refund on the piece and he returned the opal. Let's see if he would have made a profit? I have confidence in it, so I made a beautiful video to go with it.

I was silently screaming NOOOOO when you cut it! I love the color purple! But I'm okay now. Beautiful piece! Thanks Justin, you know best!
You are so welcome! haha screaming you can do
Lol! Same!
Miss hearing you talk and learning from your thought processes as you go.
come to the live! just under two hours from now
❤
Best entertainment open yet. I was cracking up at the end, because when the camera showed you spraying the stone, It almost looked like you were pantsless for comedic effect. 😆
lol
A magnificent contemplative video, I wish we could get more on youtube, it's so often "in your face". Nice touch of humor too. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
It has struck me that I love archaeological documentaries for the same reason I love your work. The sense of entering the unknown and skillfully revealing the story the site has to tell. The analogies of cutting opal are obvious!
Thank you
I’ve been really enjoying how your videos are becoming-have become-pretty darn high quality, and I for one appreciate the artistry that goes into the making of them; the editing, matching the sound track with the frames, and I especially get a kick out of the humor :) Well done, kudos, and look forward to more in the future ❤
Thank you mission accomplished
I strive to emulate it, but I dont have the equipment and software Justin does. Still, I try.
Nice Saxon. Very creative video. Love the opal justin.
Wow even rough that's incredibly clear crystal, and beautiful colors almost appearing to float inside.
It really is!
Far out! That ain’t no Brussel sprout.
Nice one Justin.
Cracked myself up at that edit with you spraying. Hahaha… good stuff. 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it hahah
Was thinking "Surely he's not gonna grind that big window of crystal away, not save it!?", then the next frame was the chop saw baby!!
😊 ..now all is right in the world.. lol!
Really well put-together post! Fun to view! Thanks you guys!
It's amazing how such a dull, worthless-looking rock can have an entire rainbow inside it - you're a magician, drawing such incredible beauty from such an unlikely place. 🤩🌟
The macros are stunning and so informative. Can see so much more of what you describe. A picture is worth 1000 words. Wow.
I miss your voice in this one.... Having said that this was a really good video. That stone is phenomenal!!! Just WOW!! Even the bit you sliced off, could be a gorgeous stone. That stunning black opal though!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
LOVE the style of this video. Its different than your usual videos. Beautifully edited. And as always, I love your sense of humor ❤
I look forward to watching your RUclips.
I'm from norther Canada, Baffin Island, community of Pangnirtung.
OK. Now finished video. Saxon, firstly, what a lovely bit of recording. It's a credit to you. Keep it up, please. Justin, love that Opal. I did think it would be valued way more. I think it beautiful. I am a bit biased though. It's an opal! Has to be lovely....😊 Thanks for a beaut vid. Greetings!
haha thank you Nancy
the webbing, the inclusions...without those I am betting five hundred a carat, easily.
Looks like your son has taken over the editing and soundtrack!
Wow, that was a trippy video.
The thunder & lightening effects were pretty cool 👊❤️
There's never a question of whether or not Justin will be able to get a good stone out of a piece. But at the beginning that stone didn't look like it had much to offer at all. But WOW, what a BEAUTY!
Wow ! Thank you Justin for sharing this with me ! I loved everything about the video the showing of the Opal in the rough , the cutting , polishing and the other characteristics of the Opal !
Have learnt so much over the last month Justin.....as a rank beginner grinding away slowly on rough from the ridge 40 years ago....sitting in the shed and garden since.....luckily I watched your tutorials and it did make a great difference......the opals I ground by hand over many days may not be worth much in dollars....but they are treasured my me as the first I have attempted. Just need to polish them ! thanks mate for your tutorials....they are great! kind regards from the Snowy Mountains !
OMG, Justin! 😳 It’s like you plugged into the matrix, downloaded the skills of David Attenborough, Denis Villneuve, and Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack… to make this video! Seriously next level… and you were already one of my very favorites!!! 🙌🏼🤩🙌🏼🤣😂🙏🏼😎😁🖖🏼
Oh wow! That is one beautiful purple black opal 💕
Saxon…. Knocking the editing out of the ball park.
Nice!!!
This is probably the prettiest, most gorgeous opal I've ever seen. All of it. It's spectacular.
Justin, that opal tuned out beautiful as inspected, thank you🎉
Glad you like it!
Love this video style! The cinematography is immaculate! These weekly videos are a treat Justin!
Glad you like them!
Beautiful purples. Love the dark, dark black opals. They're my favorite
Absolutely gorgeous black Opal, Justin!!! Stunning colour!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
Easily one of the best videos you’ve ever produced (and not just because dark purple and dark blue are my favorite colored opals). The macro look the music. Everything was just perfect. I do miss you talking in it though more. You’re very good at explaining your thought process. 👍
Ive been following you for a few years now and id like to say that people like you are the ones who put australia on the map! From when you started to where you are now eaily the opal master and guru!
Thank you for bringing this amazing Opal to us, Justin.
This video is a nice change of pace, altho when Im done with it i got a feeling that i missed so much of your thought process.
Dont get rid of the commentary, please, you are very interesting speaker and very educational at that
What a beautiful brilliant piece. I was holding my breath in the beginning and as you went along I realized you had a gem of a stone.
LOVE the macro look into the stone. Helps to explain the reasons why you cut the way you do. LOVE the presentation of the cutting. Love the channel! You are Truly a Master gem cutter.
Thanks so much!
Wow! Saxon has cinematography down to a fine art. Justin absolutely loved watching you cut this gorgeous purple opal and crystal top!!!
Fantastic to watch it come to life ❣️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Nancy!
Oh my!!!! This has got to be the most beautiful stone ever. I've seen you cut some absolutely stunning gems, but this one is my favorite. I do miss your voice overs with your words of wisdom and thought process, but i did enjoy this video. Very well put together. Good music and your comedic touch... Loved the spray bottle clip. Great work as always.
Love this MOOD video! Justin is the man, but sometimes it's good to let the opal do the talking. Keep up the good work Black Opal Direct team.
Love your incredible work, editing and even without the commentary your wit and humor is still there!
Cheers from NZ.
Thank you very much!

You are a surgeon, Justin! Really lovely watching and listening to the beautiful soundtrack Saxon. It’s quite therapeutic watching. Have noticed in the regular videos. The saw is quite quiet now so it’s very nice to be able to hear your lovely voices.
Deeply gorgeous! And love the way it was filmed.
I was watching and really liked the deep purple showing in the rough cuts. But I gasped out loud when you wiped to polishing compound off! Stunning!
It's so good to see you cashing in the You Tube $$$, making your workplace a place of art and doing what you do even better than before mate. Just love it!
Thanks so much!!
What a beauty 😮😮😮. It has such depth to it. I can’t stop looking at it. ❤❤❤
