For me .......its the loud noise that I hate. I also was numbed for a cavity and while he was drilling...... I totally felt it and started to hyperventalate and cry. I now have a fear of the dentist........I have to have sedation.
You can try laughing gas it working ks so well and music for your ears it helps me
I totally understand this. It's the taste of that numbing gel they use before the big poke, the smells, the sounds of the drill, just everything. Or to be stuck in my gums of all places with a needle. And for peace sake it's over as soon as I see that infamous tray with all those torture tools. It's like my body's going into shock with all the uncontrollable shaking and crying. I can't help it. I always feel trapped but have to sit through it because you can't leave with unfinished teeth. Its torture 😥 IV Sedation is what's best for me and the dentist...

I'm right there with you. Had a bad experience with my wisdom teeth removal. 2 out of the 4 were painful and now having to extract 3 more teeth . I'm worried.about seeing the dentist again after that. Hoping the deep sedation would.help
Yep… Same with me the drilling and still feeling it except… After Local Anaesthetic and the Other Numbing stuff followed by Happy Gas… Went catatonic and was transported to the hospital where I was in the Neurological ICU for 5 days.
Just watching this gives me anxiety 😂

Here is a patient that literally passes out the moment i enter the dentist office. I just had 13 teeth pulled with IV sedation. If you are afraid and you read this comment, i am telling you, go for it. Do not be afraid, its so smooth i am still shocked how my procedure went. I just remember sitting in the chair and the next thing they asked me if i could list up a bit to put me to bed and take me back to me suit after the procedure. The procedure lasted for nearly 6 hours, i dont remember a thing. Oh and no swellingas apart on my left lower jaw which is almost nothing and no major pain. I felt my first slight discomfort today. I hardly even take painkillers. So if you can go under general anesthesia do not hesitate

@@DARKESTELlTE Hiii! Are they putting you to sleep?If yes, then you can 120% relax, you will not know a thing and wont remember a thing. You wll be on your wa yhome by the time you get back to yourself :) you might even not remember the doctors questions. Dont be afraid, it will be ok, no pain, i promise. And yay for getting your teeth immediately, i am still working on mine and im still with half my teeth in my mouth, tw months after the procedure. You will be great. Please let me know how it goes

Id want this for a crown or implant as these make me VERY anxious. I personally do okay with fillings with just needle anesthetic but I know some cant even do fillings without sedation. Being a nervous patient myself I can certainly understand her anxiety. I had a periodontal maintenance cleaning and they had to use needleless anesthetic THREE times just to do the maintenance cleaning since due to my clogged nose (caused by another physical disorder) I am primarily a mouth breather and this is making my gums stay inflammed and thus making them VERY sensitive.
As am I. I went to a dentist in my area and had I v conscious sedation. That did nothing. So this time I’m going to a sleep dentist.
Filling aren’t bad. Honestly, I’ve had seven fillings done. They spread a flavored numbing jelly on your gums to superficially numb you. Then they inject a small dose of Novacaine. Within literally 2 minutes, you can not feel anything beyond some vibrations. Tooth extraction however, that’s a way different scenario.
I also have dental anixety also, when I was little I was held down and also lied to. My new dentist is the best. Dr Scott is amazing and is very calming and nice. I use gas and it help me so much.
The worst part is the numbing but topical usually helps once that kicks in I’m good.
I will only do IV sedation bc I was traumatized as a child

Not everyone has such an extreme fear of the dentist that they can’t even get a filling or root canal done without iv sedation. With regular local anesthetic, most people are ok
I have a dental phobia and personally I think IV sedation for a single filling is overkill… I’d understand having this for a surgical extraction. It can be anxiety inducing having your gums cut into and roots pulled/drilled from your jawbone.

OK, so Midazolam, and Fentanyl were administered. What was the dosage of the Boluses? I know Anesthesia VERY VERY well, and sedation VERY VERY well. I want to know what dosages were use. I am AMAZED that I could find a WHOLE sedation video! Whole thing!!! Thank you!!! Usually in sedation videos, you don't get the full video, just clips of parts throughout the procedure, but today, we got almost the WHOLE procedure. I would have liked to see the Emergence process.
They didn't show the whole sedation procedure. You can clearly see there is a cut.
i wanna know if anesthesia didnot work well during 3rd molar extraction. patient can feel the pain? assuming patient is under iv sedation
My son ages 11 had 8teeth out he has autism and it makes it hard for him to keep up with tooth brushing what ashame for him

I’m the opposite, I don’t mind needles but I had the IV sedation I will not want, but what they will be injecting is my question.
For my implant and root canals I did general anesthesia. I do not want to be awake for any of that.
I simply can't get completely numb....I've had versed and a pain med to remove a wisdom tooth recently....didn't feel anything.....didn't remember a thing..
That "pain medication" was probably fentanyl

go for the iv if you havent done it yet. I had 13 teeth pulled just 3 days ago and im telling you the most uncomfortable thing i felt was the painkiller i got at the end in my ass before leaving the hospital. I just remember sitting on the chair and the next moment they asked me if i can lift myself up a little to put me in the bed to take me back to my room after the procedure
Are you fully asleep for the procedure?
You are not fully asleep with IV sedation. We make sure that you will have very little memory if we do anything that may be uncomfortable for you during the procedure.

I have to go back to the dentist to get two polled and the first time I didn’t do it because I was terrified the second time I was still terrified so they’re just gonna put me to sleep

I have bad anxiety and need this pretty bad.
I asked the dentist if he could give me local anesthesia. He told me "I can't give you local for that"
Mind you I have a third molar that has root sitting right next to my nerve so I could be permanently numb in one side of my mouth, but I didn't care. He wanted to cut off the top part of the tooth and leave the roots. Maybe they would grow apart from the nerve he said.
I passed out as soon as I got injected with the IV sedation, lol. The nurse right after I woke up told me "You had a seizure"
Could be, but I also wonder if the fact that I had not eaten a proper meal since 3 pm the last day, ate doughnut and a slice of pecan pie at 10 PM, Got injected at 11 am of the next day.
Is there an argument for general anesthesia other than it is preferred by dentist? Seems like a little overkill.
IV sedation has less risks and is safer than general anesthesia.
