Clearly the aquaponics and hydroponics community has a lot of questions. I dive into some of the questions I received from viewers the last few months.
Regarding the question about concrete tanks. You must paint the inside otherwise you will have over years a very high pH in the water. Use special paints or Resin.
Another wonderful video...Few questions How often do you change/recycle the water? If possible can you do a rundown video of different types of fish to raise pros and cons similar to the 'Best Plant To Grow' and What are the best fish for aquaponics?' but in more depth. The Good the Bad and The ugly. Getting the best out of your farm.
Hi Tyler, great stuff! I have a few questions, is a sump tank necessary for a DWC system & how do you calculate fish to plant ratio? The reason is because I’m planning to set up a greenhouse at home & the idea is to have a grow bed & DWC beds. Thanks in advance!
What about the tilapia and vitamin nutrients for plants do you just keep it at basic water or can they live together with the vitamins that you would need to do for a normal hydroponics planning
I think it is a good idea since fish and plants have different requirements. And it gives you more freedom in treating fish or plants. In a RAS (recirculating aquaculture system for fish) you need to exchange between 3 and 10% of the total water volume per day. Why not use it for your thirsty plants? A tomato needs about 3 to 5 Liters of water per day. If you know how much water you must exchange per day - divide it by 4 and you know how many tomatoes you have to plant to get rid of the water.

I don't usually leave comments and this time I did ask a question and got a reply. Thank you Bro. I wasn't expecting to find a response. 😁

A few things i wanna add. Some grow media affect pH. Also, concrete tanks will cause alkalinity if it isnt waterproofed properly
I got a reply. Thank you sir for answering my question 😊

Do you have a regular water change schedule like you would an aquarium, or do you just change by levels?
Change as needed.. mostly leave it go though and make adjustments to the system that effect water quality .. don’t change water too often
What do you think about decoupled aquaponics system pros and con?

Good video 👍🏼how to vacume DWC for cleaning
Shop vac and muck boots
How do you keep deep water beds from overflowing if power goes out and your pump is not working? The beds are much lower then fish tank
All the tanks before the DWCs can only drain to a certain height
Where did you get the cone bottom tanks?
US plastics
