This song has a very personal connection to me...it takes me back to the earliest days of my romance and marriage to my dear precious Merna and the trials, difficult times and triumphs we experienced in our 44 years of marriage. I cry every time I hear it...she died from cancer in October 2017...I will never get over her..
Very sweet my friend. And how lucky you are to have had Merna. And how lucky to have this song to remember her by.... Watch the new doc on Gordon on Amazon Prime: GORDON LIGHTFOOT: IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND. It closes with this song and its quite beautiful!
What I'm feeling too mate. He's been at the heart of me musically, lyrically for most of my life. This one is right at the core, I think, of a lot of who we are and try to be.
The biggest misses of them all. Lightfoot played at my high school in 68. I didn't go see him for reasons lost to memory. The only picture of him in our year book of that year was the back of his head. The photographer had one job.
How does a girl go about meeting this musical legend? Just to hear him talk, just to hear him play one song, just to shake the hands that I've admired for years...just once? How DOES one meet a living legend that has touched her all of her life ~ and yes, I do get that Restless feeling...
I met Gordon Lightfoot 20 years ago after a concert in Mankato, MN. It was just him and me. He was charming, and very humble. Most concerned whether or not I liked the concert. A moment to remember....
@@carmenprice6367 Yes. I was honored to meet him after a concert on the Oregon coast. We weren't supposed to be there but the security guy let us stay behind and we talked for a few minutes. It's a wonderful memory. ❤❤❤

My favourite!
Gorgeous in its simplicity. Gord’s genius.
GOD BLESS GORDON LIGHTFOOT
What I love about this song is its almost an homage to his 1960's style of songwriting ( no synthesizers though!)
