      BB King said if he missed a note he knew how to cover it up, but Stevie never learned that because he never once missed a single note. Wow to have BB say that about you would be awesome.

    He takes time out to make sure the people working behind the scenes as well as his bandmates get the credit for producing the show…after delivering a blistering performance himself… a truly humble gentleman besides being a legendary performer!

      I read an interview a while back where the drummer said that SRV would start playing the song at whatever tempo he felt like playing and they just had to go with it. Sometimes it was double the track tempo.

      Stevie needed chris and Tommy, he'd blow doors off by himself, but with double trouble he'd burn everything to the ground. They were perfect for him, as he was perfect for them. Tommy played for Johnny winter, he definitely knew how to keep up, and back up the thunder

      I saw him do this in person a couple of times. I'd been playing for a while. I thought that he couldn't be THAT good. So, I saw him for the first time. 20 seconds in, I thought, "I suck!" lol. Pretty defining moment in my teens.

    I saw Stevie close the Capitol Theater in Passaic New Jersey many big band played there. Also saw him in New York City at the pier. Every show is amazing

      +paddie3535-You are so lucky - twice! I’ve heard him say in interviews that he preferred smaller venues because they were more intimate. I can just imagine the electrical energy in the audience. Wish I could have been there.

    I once hat a guitar teacher who told me to remember that what you can hear on records is just a good take of many ones. That may be true, but, you know, this is Stevie Ray. Perfectly fine performance. Thanks for sharing.

      His playing seemed flawless, never sloppy or not bending to the right pitch. In fact his live performances are better than the studio versions. The only studio version I prefer over live is Lenny, but the Carnegie hall performance is excellent.

    There are nights…. when I have nothing to do with it. There have been nights when I start playing chord solos, and I don’t know any of the chords. There have been nights when I completely lost it, and by the time it struck me, I wouldn’t even know what song I was playing anymore. Sometimes it’s effortless… but the chill bumps are worth it when you get em’ SRV

    I’ve played the guitar for 20 years now and I’ve put in many hours of practice BUT I gave up on this one a long time ago!! This guy was ASTOUNDING!!! The same goes for other songs such as Scuttle Buttin,’ Stang’s Swang etc........the best I can do is approximate them!!

    Stevie, sober, I saw them on this tour in Sydney Nova Scotia, yes, Sydney! Phenomenal show!, couple of thousand fans, not sure why he came all the way up there but we were so very blessed to see him. Only a few thousand but he played as though he was playing for sold out arena! I still have the t-shirt-the girl in the front row with the guitars.

    I love to play my drums along with him he is one of if not the best blues rock and country guitar player that my ears have ever witnessed this man had no in and when they made him they broke the mole, this man is unbelievable when I hear him play he brings out a lot out of me things that I thought I could never play and that speaks volumes damn it I wish I could have seen him live I bet anyone who's seen him louder with energetic through the whole concert if it does that to me I can just imagine how the people work when they were listening from live

    I worked at Fitzgerald's when Stevie played he was so much better when he wasn't famous,he was never a rocker, he was a blues man.i waited on billy gibbons Aaron Neville, every time he played David Bowie fucked him by we were all so sad for be behind that at Fitz,.
