Stepmania, or SM for short, is an open-source and highly customizable DDR simulator. You can customize just about any aspect of the UI (or "theme") and there's an editor mode where you can lay out notes to any song you want. There's a healthy community centered around creating and sharing this custom content; the possibilities are pretty much endless. SM5 (Stepmania 5.1) is the newest and most widely used version.
I used to make these kinda step charts back when the only possible mechanic was chromatic bpm changes with DWI. glad to see the art has progressed this far :D
