The healing starts as soon as I hear the violin and 2 guitars...this song is proof of Van's musical genius slathered with oodles of backstreet jellyroll...
Vans guitar sound is totally unique.. no one else sounds remotely like him.. and those in the buisness knew McGlynn as one of the best guitarists on the planet....
When you Van live, as I have been priveleged to do twice, it's like you get to sit in with him and the band in the recording studio. Not only is he one of the greatest songwriters, he's a great bandleader.
Just found this video: I've never heard it before for some reason! Oh yes, it just happens to be Easter Sunday. What a great message for everyone! Yes Van is the man. Richie, Arty and Neil.......great music!
Van Morrison-- a ' 'Musicians' Musician'..Songwriters' songwriter'. A True ( & Unique) Master of All those Intertwine genres of sublime musical heritages. So Awe Inspiring-- his pure sincerity & virtuosity Always come straight on through. HE INSPIRES his PEERS.
this is absolutely .... no words. Just love everything about it especially the Van’s guitar sound . Just made my night - dig that back street jelly roll .
This song played as the closing credits rolled in the film Belfast. I was so thrilled to hear touching songs by Van throughout this beautiful story of innocence and family set in the atmosphere of the city where he and Kenneth Branough were born and raised.
@@bustermot Must see movie. Van performed all the music for the film including some original instrumental pieces where he is playing saxophone. He even got an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song - Down to Joy but was completely ignored by the ceremony for obvious reasons.
That’s how I was introduced to van Morrison. I heard his other songs and vaguely heard of his name. But that was the first time I said this is the best song ever and he is the best artist ever lol and become a huge fan since.
And we'll walk down the avenue again And we'll sing all the songs from way back when, yeah And we'll walk down the avenue again and the healing has begun And we'll walk down the avenue in style And we'll walk down the avenue and we'll smile And we'll say: "Baby, ain't it all worthwhile when the healing has begun?" I want you to put on your pretty summer dress You can wear your Easter bonnet and all the rest And I wanna make love to you yes, yes, yes When the healing has begun "Alright" When the healing has begun "Whoe" "Whoe" Nananananana, "wheee", "alright", "whooo", "hey", "whoe" When you hear the music ringin' in your soul And you feel it in your heart and it grows and grows And it came from the backstreet Rock & Roll When the healing has begun "That's where it comed from, man" I want you to put on your, your all summery dress You can wear your Easter bonnet and all the rest And I wanna make love to you "Yes, yes" When the healing has begun, "ai, can't stand myself" We're gonna make music underneath the stars We're gonna play to the violin and the two guitars And we're sit there and play for Hours and hours when the healing has begun Hours, hours and hours When the healing has begun Hours and hours, hours When the healing has begun "Wait a minute, baby, listen, listen" "I didn't know you stayed up so late" "Oh you know I just got home from a gig "And I saw you standing on the street" "Just let me move on up to this window-sill a lot" "Yeah, I got some, take some sherry" "You want a drop of port" "Let's move behind this door here" "Let's move on up behind this letter-box behind this door" "Let's go in your front room" "Let's play this Muddy Waters record you" "Got here, if you just open up a little bit" "And give me some of this backstreet jellyroll" We're gonna stay out all night long And then we're gonna go out and roam across the field Baby, you know how I feel when the healing has begun When the healing, when the healing has begun Heeey, the healing has begun We're gonna stay out all night long We're gonna dance to the Rock & Roll When the healing has begun Ohw baby, just let me ease on a Little bit, dig this Backstreet jellyroll And the healing, healing has begun Heeeee And the healing has begun And the healing, and the healing
I seen Van on this tour in the Cork Opera House,it remains one of my favourite shows ever. What a band!Looking forward to seeing the great man again in June at the same venue. Thanks for the video.
I've watched several Van Morrison video shows. It is always with great pleasure that I hear and see a good presentation. As a recent fan, I was unable to follow her difficult early career. I'm glad he achieved success in his music career Congratulations! You deserve!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍♥️
did you ever know DANIEL 'IAN' FERGUSON when he played with Van in the early 70s in Northern California? we were close but lost touch, would love to connect again. THKU [he's not from Australia or Nashville but born in 1948]
Van would love Catherine. She’s a bona fide brown eyed and red lipped brunette. Beautiful smile. Incredible lips. Her mother was the kind of woman men wrote poetry about. Not a local. Had a dreadful life with Catherine’s dreadful father and his family. Her father died when she was just 16. 79. Her mum died about 2009. She never comes back to Ireland now. I now know the feeling.
Wonderful song. Had all these on tape then went back and bought everything from before 86 and so on. Van was the soundtrack to many Greek island holidays I had with Catherine. And the reason why when we were in Athens the old bearded ladies would get the armed cops round to us. Music up too loud…. We swore we’d never get old and definitely never grow feckin beards or put our tits away.
Hate to be a downer...but the album version of this great song is dramatically more expressive and freer than the live versions. I suspect it’s because he is shy and guarded in public.
I agree that the album version is better than anything he ever produced live. But that really only goes for this song. Most of his live performances outshine the album versions by a country mile. Without Toni Marcus' violin this song is not just the same, and it seems Van always tried to compensate by inserting a lengthy instrumental section, curiously opting out of the vocal sections that also take the studio version to a higher place.
You will be surprised that 'Van the Man' has a sizeable, dedicated and intense following in my town of Shillong, in remote North East India
Love you Van The Man ❤️

The Big V at work = Superb. Viva the music and memory of Van Morrison!
Maybe, I'm so partial to Van the Man, because of my Northern Irish blood?? No , he's purely brilliant!!!
May this song of Van Morrison live on. Thank you Woolhall for this treasure.

@@EarlsCourt75ProShot 100% agree. Those strings in the album version are, for lack of a better word, magical.
Do you Britts see him as the patron saint of music for your home land? This yankee seems to look at him in that light. Just saying. Saw him twice. Wow
So where was this recorded. ?Surely not a BBC studio?
It says in the title
