Hes the literal reason I bought my 221's.
And I havent stopped smiling since, the turf interaction is SO GOOD. And they arent as hard to hit as people think, which Jay convinced me of before I bought them even as they were intimidating to first look at. Hes right.

Top to Bottom Driver, woods, irons, wedge, putter Ball and Bag. I play Mizuno and have had the best year of my golf playing tenure. Low round is 65 and I have hit more fairways this year than any other. I am moving on from my trusted set of MP 33's. going to the new 241's once they come out, plus 3 new wedges and new OMOI putter. I am happy to practice these days and have absolute reliance on my Mizuno gear.

Guys like Chris and Jay have been a huge influence on evangelizing Mizuno golf. I’d never considered Mizuno irons until the “influence” of RUclips. I’m currently gaming JPX 923 Hot Metal Pro but the 245 looks amazing. What I love most about the HMP is it gives me all the forgiveness and firepower of a HM but in a smaller package. As my ball striking improves I’d love to transition into a MP or JPX forged.

MAX products look very interesting. I transitioned into the JPX 923HL for all the reasons that have been talked about. Talking to Jay the other day, step change product. Others will follow.... The 7 wood is really interesting to me, really happy to see it back in the product line. There was another...... MP001, carbon crown and cortech before the masses had even thought of carbon crowns. Still have it, haven't played it for some time but mainly due to the S300 shaft....! Was considering re shafting it as I prefer a fairway wood to a hybrid. Maybe now I don't need to go down that track. I'll take a look at the new MAX product when it lands. Great work as always guys, love to listen to Chris, an engineer at heart who also manages to do product marketing equally well. It's a really rare combination of skills to do that with such integrity ! Keep up the good work guys, Mizuno player for 30 odd years and will continue to support the brand.

I bought the 245s customed with PX 6.0 in Japan and have been very impressed with their performance. Great sexy look and feel in the short irons, not so hollow-feeling in the 6-8 and my 4&5 just flew high and long. They are a great addition to my bag for 2024.

Echoing another reviewer’s comment about the product release timing….i also wish Mizuno adjusted the winter release back into late fall (November time frame).
I live in the NY metro area and still playing golf everyday - and it’s almost Christmas - but already setting up my Witb for 2024.
Fall is the perfect time to try new equipment. We still have some form and speed left from summer and early fall golf but with courses not being as busy we can take the opportunity to do some on course testing.
If we have to wait for January to hit the clubs indoors and then hopefully getting the clubs delivered by February, it won’t be until May where we can actually get the new gear on to the course.
I think that timing is important, especially in sales and reckon that Mizuno is leaving some considerable about of revenue unrealized.
Kudos again to Jay for his effort in club testing and analysis and for being such an assurance when pulling the trigger on multiple Mizuno sets this year.

I havent replaced my old Callaway Sub Zero I crank to 11 degrees yet, I tried the G at a Mizuno fitting, didnt quite gel with it even with some ABSOLUTE BOMBS launched beause my clubhead speed is high, didnt try the Z because the fitter said it doesnt fit my swing and delivery. But the ST MAX does sound pretty nice and Id LOVE to try it. I have been eyeing the Callaway Paradym, so its GREAT to hear Mizuno launching this soon.

    So many new toys....
    1) I grew up on blades, but my favourite ever clubs were my MP-32s. My current irons are 921 HMs, but I almost went for 225s at the fitting, just preferred the extra consistency. Doing some serious swing work, though. Roll on a flatter & straighter swing path, with less need of extreme forgiveness....
    2) Currently I swap an ST-X 220 4H and 921 HM between summer and winter. I prefer the 4H off soft FW, and the 4i as a driving iron when running. Will look forward to new models - but -
    3) My old Callaways were always 1-4-7-rescue. When I went Mizuno, the 220 5W pretty much replaced my old 7W. But now, I seem to have lots of overlap in distance, but different trajectory options.
Sounds like I have LOTS of things to think about. Add ST-MAX vs ST-X 230 and T24 vs T22, it could be a VERY expensive year :-)

At @27:38, you mentioned that the different model is not necessary means different level and how heads matching to different player/style of play.
However in my pass experience with official Mizuno club fitters for consumer here, in Australia, the fitter will ask you what head you want, and try to fit you into a head. Rather than try to fit you the best head, or best combo over all. (That's including both woods and irons).
I was always custom fitted with Mizuno in the past 2 decades but for this reason, I have moved away from Mizuno woods to Callaway, and in the last leg of hanging on the 919HM.
Hoping you will see this message and make the Australia fitting team better moving forward.

Can we go back to the straight text instead of the slanted text for the 261,3,5 lineup in 2 years time? This new one does my head in OCD wise, I feel like I have to tilt my head 35 degrees just to fully appreciate the clubs at a glance. Thats the reason I bought a full set of 221's just now, even knowing the brand new clubs are coming out basically NOW, because MY text is straight, but these arent.
Btw thanks Jay, you told me these 221 blades are fairly forgiving and you really werent wrong, I shoot OVER 100 normally... I got these blades and Im shooting in the 70s now.... theres something about the crisp, clean turf interaction, instant pure feedback and feel of these clubs just feed everything my brain needs to know to adjust and learn wether on the training area or the course. Never using "game improvement" irons ever again.

Just on the ball roll back, I remember years ago I bought the Taylormade R510 driver which was subsequently banned because of the so called trampolining effect. I still have that driver and it is not as long as modern day drivers. My point is the industry is always changing things which makes me think it is more about money rather than the betterment of the game.

Jay, what do you think of going two six irons 221 and 225 to get the loft gap but also “one length” the top of the bag for players that struggle with the long irons?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut 6 месяцев назад +1

One Length top end may be possible but you may have to strengthen the loft of the 225 by a degree to make up for the 1.5 to 2mph less Club head speed from the 1/2 inch less shaft increments.
That said, the above is only if you have t👍he club head speed to do it, if you swing medium to low then the reduction of shaft length and also a degree in loft would cause a reduction in peak height and control, and maybe no gain overall

Understand that it maybe too small for you - but size change compared to the 225 is fine margins. Yes it is still a model for a better player and so we’ve made changes that suit those players. The JPX923 line up is there for players who want a little more clubface.

I’m not sure they are much smaller. I know that Chris mentioned that several times, but when in look at the chart that shows size difference between the 223 and 243 it’s 1 millimeter difference in head length.

@@user-pu1js4cg2y this year I went on an experiment-an expensive one btw- trying to find the perfect iron set. For background I started playing Mizuno back in 1992 with the TC 29 and then the MP 29…. And pretty much had them all until a few years ago…when Mizuno’s no longer felt like Mizuno’s to me.
But this year based on jays feedback decided to give Mizuno another try and actually b purchases the jpx 923 forged and hm pro and the 225’s.
And I also tried every other players distance and some players irons on the market. Zx7, T150, i230, p790, forged tec, cobra cb, pxg 0317 etc. crazy right?😁
The ones that I kept were the 225 and jpx hm pro. And i play them as a reversed set with 2,4,5,6 from the 225 set and 7-gap, SW and L from the jpx hm pro. And that is because too much offset on long irons from the jpx hm pro and not enough power from the short irons in the 225 set.
      So that’s my story 😁.
Going back to the original point you raised- As far as size is concerned and being small, try the ping blueprints!!! You can barely see a clubhead down by the ball…. But they feel the best of any iron in the market today!!! Take care.

there have been some patches where we were slower than we would have liked to be. In 2022 it was the entire industry with world supply chain. In 2023 both US and Europe it was mainly growing pains - we just had more demand than we’ve been accustomed to. We’ve addressed that at both the European and US assembly lines with more staff for 2024. We were running at around 10 days through Autumn.
