  • Leave PS5 on. Turn off Portal. Press PS button on a linked PS5 remote to take over the Playstation 5. Then power up the Portal. The Portal will now control the PS5, and it shuts the regular remote off automatically. It works for me everytime. Hope it helps. I really hope they incorporate a way to check the battery without turning the device off, or putting it in standby mode to check the battery from the settings menu. We could literally hold the 2 on-screen touch buttons for 3 seconds or something to check the battery with a small update in my opinion.

This seriously happened to me too!!! I am a truck driver, and had to call my daughter in Milwaukee while I'm in Texas to "please hold the black Playstation button down on the controller", so I can take over the console with the Portal. Before ANY updates we never had to do this. I still don't understand why we needed updates in the first place because if you had mediocre WiFi, it was literally fine at any truckstop. It's ruthless to say the least.

Yeah, I'm hoping they get right on it, and the fact that we can't check the battery on this device until it's powered off.

@jessica5779 I would probably hold the power button down until you see the Playstation logo. That way you know it reset. It will have you put your WiFi password in again, and relink to the Playstation 5.

Make sure that isn't an update though. The Playstation Portal takes a good while to update, and it does segments.

@@SoloCrimeWave just strike in from the top right. Shows your battery.
