Funny thing is, Jose was not the original featured artitst for this one. Covid travel restrictions stopped the original, maybe Anthony Gargiula, so Jose stepped in. Feature was supposed to sing the part Eli is singing, but it did not suit Jose's voice. So Eli recorded the rocking beast part, after he had already recorded the part that Jose sings. We knew he could do it, but it wasn't something that he was doing on a regular basis.

"The Dragon Born Comes-Skyrim" or "Drunken Sailor" for more theatrics and vocal gymnastics, "The Bones" or "Whiskey in the Jar" or even some older releases "Something Just Like This" or "I Knew You were Trouble/ As long as You Love Me Mashup" for straight a Capella. Although there is 12 years worth of treasure on their channel including their new release from the game Warframe "Sleeping in the Cold Below" they are great at video game themes, movie music and theater music. Actually they're pretty great at any genre.
Dragonborn is amazing. Great costumes, set and effects.
"Carry On Wayward Son" & "We're Good"... and pretty much any Disney cover from them 😊
Eli is a beast. Another great performance and definitely one of my favourites.
I see this as ghost pirates expressing disdain on the murderers in the British Navy who were killing pirates and innocents alike at the start of _Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End._ The movie begins with the living singing it, and VoicePlay shows us the dead.

Creep by Voiceplay. Yes, please! For theatrics, you should check their "In the Hall of the Mountain King." Its an orchestral piece with no words and they do it in acapella in costumes as trolls. Amazing! Love your analysis in this video. Thanks!
And then you have the Halo Theme to watch after that one.... Was partial to Hall due to the fact that growing up I loved that one.

Same! Every time I listen to one of their covers I think it’s my favorite and then I think that about the next one and the next one… and then if I pull up an older one it’s my favorite. Basically whichever one I’m listening to at the time is my favorite 😅😂❤

You should watch “The Oogie Boogie Song” they did; and when you watch it I strongly suggest/advise having the closed captions turned on.
Another good one to check out after this are the other two in their Seafarer Trilogy, "My Mother Told Me," another Viking song, and "What Will We Do With A Drunken Sailor." Both also feature Jose. He's such a great rogue! And just sings like crazy.
Have to drop one comment here. Eli entered the Rock God HOF with this one and Geoff dove headfirst into the Mariana Trench on those low notes. This was one heck of a performance by all five of our dudes.
Was great watching the BTS video. Them moving all the set pieces in and setting everything up.Finding out that Cesar and Jose went to high school together. They were in the same theater class. Jose is the older of the two by a couple years. Watching Rick Underwood do his makeup magic the day of the shoot.

Voiceplay puts a great deal of detail into their videos, even touches that most people never realize. When pirates were caught but not executed, they were branded with a “P”. As part of the makeup for the shoot, all the guys had ‘scars’ (VP). Eli’s is the most noticeable on his left hand and Geoff’s can be seen on his arm. But they all had them.
They open a video feed to their shoots for some patrons and we got to see them all.
I love hearing all of those talented voices merging and creating such a wonderful sound...Geoff just gets better and better at using sub harmonic techniques to enhance that wonderful bass voice... So glad you all did this one! It's one of my top three VP favs. (Let's be real, they are all favs, but if i had to pick, this would be up there)
This is why VP Patreons and fans are so invested. Voiceplay loves what they do, and their passion shows. They are genuinely good people and amazing artists. (edited to note - please watch with captions on and watch past the credits. They often include BTS footage, or just commentary and humor)

Another #Voiceplay masterpiece!! And, another GREAT reaction from Bars&Barbells! Hoist the Colours is one of my favorites from VoicePlay for exactly the same reasons you discovered in your reaction. They pay just as much attention to the performance, the videography, the costumes and makeup, and the facial expressions WHILE singing perfect harmonies is amazing. The arrangements where Geoff is scaling down while everyone else is scaling up is just on another level, and their ability to suck you in in the first 10 seconds of the song and then they change directions every 20 seconds to keep you interested is just on another planet skills. The rabbit hole is quite deep, so you can't go wrong with Creep, or Hellfire or Dragonborn Comes or their new release Sleeping in the Cold Below or their recently released Drunken Sailor (also featuring Jose Rosario Jr.). Looking forward to your next one!!

Give Drunken Sailor by VP a shot as well as In the Hall of the Mountain King. Both are fully loaded but a lighter touch. Creep is beautiful (Eli did this one), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins) (Layne did this), and Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) (Geoff did this).
Something that's a bit of a running joke amongst VoicePlay fans; Which VoicePlay song is your favorite? The latest one. Lol. It's a bit of a running joke, but it also has a kernel of truth to it. Of course, it doesn't hurt that VoicePlay is constantly upping their game, too.
Yeah, this is my second-favorite VoicePlay number (behind Mountain King).

Also...
Geoff Castellucci, the bass has his own channel where he sings solo with instruments. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl.
He also dresses up in costumes.
He released his new video Saturday, "Unshaken".
It is the prequel to his "Ghost Riders In The Sky" video.
He brought back the 4 ghost riders before they died.
It is absolutely beautiful and epic.
Jeff, Jeoph and Goff got their names in his "Way Down" video where he was 3 janitors and a supervisor. Daryl got his name in Ghost Riders In The Sky.
The names were supposed to be just for the videos but after Way Down they became permanent for the "geoffettes".

I watched your Ren reactions as I have recently discovered him. Did you react to Money Game Pt 2?
So many of Voiceplay's videos are every bit as much a visual experience, a theatrical experience, as they are musical and auditory experiences. I heartily recommend their versions of "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons, "The Dragonborn Comes" from Skyrim, and "Dream On" by Aerosmith. Listen carefully to Geoff especially; he is not just an amazing bass singer, he has an impressive upper range as well, as evidenced at 9:01-9:05 in this video.
This song appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, when a small boy is on the gallows, waiting to be hanged, Then all the other people waiting join in. It doesn't sound like this of course.

I get the impression you were not familiar with the original, which could help you appreciate this cover version better. There is a video clip of the original here on RUclips. It comes from the very start of PotC At World's End. The clip is 3 mins 49 and the song starts at 1 min 45, although I'd watch it all for context. It is very sombre.
