Great video! Have been trying to find the best replacement for my old Phantom 3 pro, with something more portable with good image quality, but in that price range. Sooo many models! Thanks Hudson.
So many useful suggestions! Most will go on my self-gift list. I will temp my wife with her choice of one of the books, all irresistible. BTW, I bought the Z50 kit when first released for compact grab go. Now tempted to upgrade to the Z52. First some further research. This video is a springboard for a lot of further research.
24-120 S for sure! It's a far better lens. The 28-75 is the Tamron/Nikon collaboration from back in the F days with an extension tube built in for the shorter flange distance. The 24-120 is designed for Z and honestly will knock your socks off.
Hey Hudson, I’m debating on the 50C vs the 60C. I mainly do wildlife and landscape day hikes. Also which RSI size would be best to fit a 24-120 and 180-600 Z8 and a pair of binoculars for the bags? Cheers!
You'll need the Large RCI for the 180-600 without the camera mounted. The XL for it with the camera mounted and top or back access. The XL only fits the 60C and you have to zip out the internal divider. I adore the 50C, but if hiking with a fair amount of gear, clothes, food and working in weather. Go 60C. The extra space and that seperate upper drybag is worth it's weight in gold.
Can’t find the small Manfrotto cube that you refer to as in the Creator series. The link in your list doesn’t go to it. It’s not found on either Amazon or Manfrotto’s homepage. Very interesting product, would love to find it.
@m.maclean8911 never, nope. I keep the heat above freezing and below 90 in my nice dry studio. The gear stays ready to go in my NYA-EVO pack. The conditions I've put my gear through? Denali to Death Valley to Lake Victoria and Costa Rica?? It's like storing a Land Cruiser in a padded temperature controlled garage. :)
In search of…..arca plate for telephoto lens with 2 screws for the foot and an extra screw hole for my black rapid camera strap. Or I could do the QD lock, but would need to be able to attach it to current strap
I really prefer the Kirk complete foot replacements. I link them with all the Nikon lenses. This one fits the 70-200 and 100-400. bit.ly/3GX5iVx QD is definitely the way to go. Just grab a Kirk D-QD and clip the BR carabiner into it instead of their threaded PITA dealy. Kirk also makes really nice long lens foot plates with QDs if you are super opposed to the feet. Just look around there. Great people.
I've had issues with the CalDigit products as they age. I once reccomended them, but not any more. THe Dockcase is crazy fast and versatile for such a tiny hub. Here's the video review I did back when it was on Kickstarter... ruclips.net/video/n8mf7_3-aZA/видео.html you can see it in action there.
Hi Hudson. Was the Lowepro Creator Box you showed with your Z50 kit the Medium or Large? I think I heard you mention both sizes, so I just wanted to make sure before I ordered one for my Z50. Thanks.
I wish bag companies would make bags for outdoor use instead of focusing on carry-on compliance. I need a bag to fit a 23in torso! That means the shoulder straps need to attach at least at 23.5in, not including the load lifter straps. I’m still using my hiking backpack with an insert because of some bad back problems.
Have you tried a NYA-EVO bag? The 50 and 60 have adjustable shoulder strap positions and I find that they put the wight right on my hips where it belongs. That's why i love them. I"ve been a Backpacker since the 80s and that is critical. It's not my big Gregory, but it's better than any other camera bag ever. Jenson worked designing for Deuter and other big names before founding the company with Mario. (Edit... I just checked and the 60C is far from 23" at the top position. Correct you are. You must be taller than me. I was just on a trip in Switzerland with them though getting a look at protype products. There is something coming that won't be airline compliant you might love, but I can't say more than that. Keep an eye out.)
@ yes, I got a chance to try a friend’s 60. Almost 2in lower than my shoulders for where the straps connect to the bag. Same as my current shimoda 50 and my older F-stop bag that I’m selling off. That’s the problem with making things “carry-on” compatible, it maxes out the frame at 22in. I even have problems finding hiking bags that will fit. My older Gregory 45L will, and so will the newer Osprey XL bag, but most won’t. To be fair, I have an abnormally long torso for my 6’1” height, even after loosing an inch of height from spinal compression in the navy.
@@FieldingSmith Ugghhh, yeah I have one regular workshop participant who's similarly built and finds the same issues. I'll mention this to Jensen as he works on this new prototype larger project. ;-) Keep an eye out.
That little dock is awesome, one of the best purchases I have made.
Is it a Thunderbolt Hub? How fast does it transfer images.
the hat on top on the tripod, hahahahah, Love it!
The Noodle Rolls, sorry Nodal Rail, is simply fantastic. One of the nicest piece of photography kit I’ve seen in a long time.
@@Pengranger 🙏
I need 2 of those Nya-EVO RCIs.
I don't like camera bags, so having these with my gear in, I can just Ross them into my normal go anywhere bag.
Order completed Mr Hudson Henry.
Thank you for the suggestions this year.
Great video, this is the day that April holds her breath over. She is lucky this year, only 8 items I am ordering! Thx
@@gscharlach miss you Gary!
Enjoyed the video! Great ideas! Thanks again for sharing!
Amazing! Great review. You have such a range! Thanks. Geoff

I LOVE the Air3S Cary. Love it.
As usual you are tempting me to spend more money - although, I have already purchased a number of these items :-). Thanks again for your great ideas!

That Diy grumbler kit is 🔥
Nice list. Christina Mittermeier is featured in Ep1 of NatGeo Photographer
Great video. Thank you. Going to Southeast Asia for 2 weeks…with a Nikon 7ZII. Shall I rent the 24-120 4S or the 28-75 2.8?
24-120 S for sure! It's a far better lens. The 28-75 is the Tamron/Nikon collaboration from back in the F days with an extension tube built in for the shorter flange distance. The 24-120 is designed for Z and honestly will knock your socks off.
Books are always good idea as a xmas gifts. Would be good to have full titles - subtitles or in the description.

@@garymc8956 the Manfrotto bag is the street tech organizer, it's not part of the LowPro link. It's seperate. ;)
Kudos on the ET-8550 printer video back then, I got mine from your recommendation and I love it. Still haven’t halved the initial bottles 😂
Samsung T7 Shield Fast SSD Storage (40% off for limited time) is actually $270 on Amazon. Thank you Hudson. great information for the holidays.
@@patrickguilfoyle8884 Yep. They dropped the 4TB T7 Shield further this morning to 46% off. Nice!
I'm watching this to see if I need to get myself anything for Christmas.
Some nice little-known bits of gear - adding holiday fuel to GAS ;-) Can a Z8 with a 24-120 f/4 fit in the LowePro GearUp medium?
@@alaikens6353 thanks. No. Maybe the extra large?? The large is more Z50 size. The medium was Leica Q size.
Thanks Hudson

Hudson, do you keep your gear in a temperature & humidity controlled storage case? I have never done this but I see them being sold …. Thanks.
