Two dynasties playing every damn season it seemed and every game was a classic. I'm an old man at 58 and have been a Cowboy fan since I watched them as a young lad when they beat the Dolphins 24-3 for their first title a Miami team that would go undefeated the following season, but I tell ya...tons of respect for the 49ers and Steelers! Those two teams were not our division rivals but teams that we battled for either the right to go to the Bowl or to play in the Bowl (Steelers 3 times, still owe you guys one lol) thus more of a rival than the NFC East teams we basically dominated. Those teams were just legendary. The 70's through the mid 90's was the best era of football in my humble opinion.
I agree. I grew up a 49er fan since the 80's and watched them win 5 SB. I absolutely hated the Cowboys of the 90's. But damn, it was must see TV every time they played. After watching some old 90's Cowboys games on RUclips, I got to admit, that team was on a whole different level. I honestly believed they could of won 4 or 5 SB in a row if Jimmy wasn't fired.
This rivalry dominated the 90s. For four straight seasons, there was the Cowboys, there was the 49ers, and then there was everyone else. To me, this game was truly the last hurrah of their glory years. The Cowboys were getting ready to spiral out of control, and while the Niners still had a couple good years ahead, they were getting old, injury prone, and had been surpassed by Green Bay.
@contentm3893 Strangly, the discipline was only lost on the offensive side of the ball. Aikman, Moose, Emmitt, Irvin, and a veteran offensive line. Always found it weird that the defense was dominant all four seasons Switzer coached in Dallas.
@@contentm3893 after Jimmy Johnson left cowboys with Switzer was a clown show. probably one of worse head coaches ever win a Superbowl. Switzer sure wasn't reason why cowboys won there last superbowl
@@bengaltiger96 yep.. 21-6 against the Green Bay Packers who won the Super Bowl.. I still believe that if we had beaten Carolina and went up to Lambeau, Brett Favre would have destroyed us.
This was appointment TV back in the day. Dallas @ San Francisco or San Francisco @ Dallas. Back when they didn't put it on at night; it was a four o'clock game ET in usually early November so the whole country could watch it. Must've been that way for about five years. We could usually even watch it here in New York, where we'd rarely get more than two games with the antiquated broadcast rules preventing a double-header game be aired opposite the Jets or Giants when they were at home. They'd find a way to air it here too when one of the New York teams was on a bye or playing at night. Thanks for the upload!
This era had everything: big pads, big facemasks, big hits, fullbacks, 7 step drop backs, chain gangs, cowboys throwing gang bangs. How do we get back to this?
Cowboys haven't won a super bowl since 1996, Niners since 1995. Only 2 teams with 5 super bowls, But you better believe these 2 historic franchises will always bring it no matter what when they face off. Can't wait for 2024 season, Let's Go Cowboys
This was a heavyweight bout every time in the early - mid 90s. We all know how good Dallas was, but the SF teams during this time were very very good also. Overlooked IMO.
I wonder if this was the defensive game plan for Dallas for what they thought would be the 95 NFC championship. Switzer's defense clearly saves the day.
41:06 Dang. That punt went higher than the stadium. His next one did too. But then the third one at 1:00:26 didn't and it sounded like someone was really rubbing it in.

Wrong. 3 for 3 in SBs as the starting QB for the best team in the 90s. If you’re going by that standard then Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw shouldn’t be in the HOF.
@@billierenfro705 Bradshaw probably shouldn't be, Montana was the best QB of his time. Multiple MVPs, while Aikman had pedestrian numbers, never led the league in anything except concussions playing behind one of the best lines in the history of the game, and was propped up by a far better supporting cast than Montana ever had. Aside from having the actual GOAT to throw to, Montana had decent players on both sides of the ball. Bradshaw, same, surrounded by HOFers and made the most of his opportunities. Which is what you're supposed to do. Aikman was a different player in those super bowls, I'll concede that, but he's the Timmy Smith of QBs

This O-Line was so awesome.
An all-time line, and one of the key reasons why the Pokes offense was as potent as it was all those years.

Why did they never try to put Troy in the shotgun? Especially with all the hits he took later in his career.
They did some later in the decade.
The number of hits that QB's took at the time, while he had thrown, it's infamous....in one game it's the equivalent of a current QB's in his career .
