We are John, Tara, Crusoe and Sawyer Newby. A family of explorers who's taken root in Northern Portugal where we're renovating an abandoned farm into our dream off-grid homestead.
On and off, we have been traveling for over 20 years and have explored more than 160 of the world's 193 countries, it’s been quite a journey, and now we are sharing our adventures weekly here on RUclips with new episodes EVERY SUNDAY.
BE BRAVE - THINK BIG - EXPLORE
Because we believe that lines across a map are more important than numbers in the bank.
Thanks so much for watching!!!
Hello John , Tara & the boys! I must tell you about my friend that has two olive trees on her property & how she eliminated the fruit flies. She said get a small plastic soft drink bottle, cut the top off it, drill a small hole at the top, then put a piece of wire through the hole & make a hook so it can be hung up in the olive tree. Then put some beer in the bottle. She told me it worked so well that she has not had any fruit flies in years. Not even in any other fruit trees, like apples, pears etc. I think it’s worth a try. Good luck with it all. Cheers Noeline.😊
Hello Noeline. Thank you so much for your advice, we will definitely give that a go! We are so appreciate of your support friend 🫒🍺😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
I've used that on those huge Asian wasps and it catches a ton of them.
So they drown in the beer?
@@themintleaf1778 Some would say, "What a way to go." Haha.
@@TheNewbys apple cider vinegar, sugar and dish soap works as well
Tara you’re a wonderful mother, it’s not easy having a toddler & a newborn yet you handle it with such grace & positivity. The farm is worth every minute you spend on it, even if it feels like progress is slow. Thanks for sharing your lives with us - you brighten up every Sunday ❤Have a beautiful week
Thanks so much Bridget, that is so kind of you to say. It put a smile on my face. We are so glad you enjoyed this episode. Have a wonderful week friend ❤️❤️❤️
I think I would be more excited about the olive wood that's now on the ground because you can make all sorts of useful kitchen things from it: plates, cutting boards, salt & pepper shakers, utensils (spoons, forks, tongs, etc.), bowls, dough troughs, etc. If there's enough of it, there's your kitchen countertops.
Oh we like the sound of that Aine! Thanks so much for watching friend 🪵🫒😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
I wonder if you could make anything from the olive tree wood. Ive seen it can be very sturdy for utensils and cutting boards etc.
I said the same thing 🤣
Well done John & Tara
Thank you Maureen ❤️❤️❤️
I love that you have so many caring neighbors and workers!
We a part of such an incredible community Cheryl, we are so lucky! Thanks so much for watching friend 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Hi guy we harvested our neighbours olives a week ago and they cut the branches into smaller pieces then you pick up a smaller branch and remove those then move on to the next and it eliminates olives on the floor and chasing your tail in this big pile not knowing where to start,, local knowledge is priceless enjoy the ride guys
Thanks Gavin, agreed local knowledge is almost exact. 🙏🙏👍👍
“Where’s Crusoe?” Is probably something you guys say every few minutes! Such a sweet, busy little man. Reminds me of when my boys were little just like yours! ❤
It is indeed Karen haha Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
Yes my two boys were a year and a half apart. Know how busy it can be to find creative things to occupy them . Just love them with all your heart. They grow up way too soon. Hugs
Omg you guys are so positive living elsewhere, no running water, construction site and an infant and a 2 yr old. It’s aaaaloot. So cut yourself some slack. We have been mothers we know those young years and on top of that things are chaotic. So just do you as best as you can. You both are AMAZING!!!!
Thanks so much Ruth, that is so kind of you to say. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
You are an amazing mother Tara and those boys (and John too!) are lucky to have you as their mom. Plus, you are renovating a farm as well. Super woman!!!!
Ah thank you so much Julie, you are too kind! It has been tough but we will get there. Sending lots of love to you and Luke ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my god! Sawyer seems a copy of John! :D thats amazing similarity! whereas Crusoe is a perfect mixture of his mom and dad and he is getting more and more sweeter and clever each week! Miracle :) ..The boys are so lucky that they have such harworking, positive looking and full of love parents.. Tara and John I congradulate you indeed for your way of living and in the mean time could able to find time to inspire us..see you next week dears, take care :) LOVES
Thanks so much Ferişte, we are so appreciate of your support friend. See you next Sunday 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Tara, your concern and love for the trees is so sweet. And how awesome that you will have olives and olive oil!!It sure is a lot of work separating those little things.Great meditation! ☺
Thanks so much for watching Helen ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Newbys…….. you have been soooooooo busy!!!! Have another picnic…… ( rain permitting ). Be proud you are doing amazing things and will reap the rewards to come. Your neighbours are so lovely and supportive.
Have fun, sending lots of positive vibes……. 👍❤❤❤❤xxxx
Thanks Elizabeth, another picnic sounds like a great plan!
It's been so long since I had little ones to look after, mine are all grown. You forget how exhausting and omnipresent it is. My dear old mum (no longer with us) used to have a wonderful phrase, "babies are such lovely little time wasters". It was so funny watching you taking the pushchair round and round the lawn.
They are quite exhausting Lottie 😂 we love your Mums saying, that is precious. Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
I sympathize with you sorting olives I
remember sorting berries as a young woman. Also I had two children 10 and a half years apart. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
I meant months not years. My babies were ten and one half months apart.
Thanks Tracy! Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡
Hang in there! Some day you will look back and have found memories of the struggle.❤️
Thanks Colleen ❤️❤️❤️
¡Gracias!
Thanks Kyra!
Isn’t the universe amazing? Just when you needed it most, those little birds came for a visit and provided your soul with peace and tranquillity. Such a spiritual moment. I love moments like that and am so pleased you had such a special one ❤
It was such a special moment Christine, really put a big smile on my face. Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
No judging from me. It’s refreshing to see someone showing the reality of normal life not just show offs. Xx
Thanks so much Susan ❤️❤️❤️
In 20 years you will look back on these times as pure gold💛🧡. Sending much love to you all and Happy Hallelujah for good neighbours.💕
You are quite right Moira, these precious moments are pure gold. Thanks so much for your constant support friend, it means so much to us ❤️❤️❤️
Bless. Hats off guys - rain, building site, a toddler, a newborn, and a ton of olives - and the list goes on. Really lovely to see Tara a little more relaxed - you are a bloody legend lady. Leaps n bounds - you will be settled back in with running water and a huge list of new projects in no time. ❤️
Thank you Diana, the list never ends haha we are so appreciate of your support friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Ohmy! Little Caruso loving on Daddy & then licking his face in the beginning of the vid was just adorable! Hang in there Newby Fam, you are living a beautiful life on a beautiful farm that the boys will cherish for the rest of their lives. Much respect & love to you all.
Thanks so much for watching Ellen ❤️❤️❤️
Take a big breath, dear Newbys, renovations are never easy, unfortunately. But you see, the water came from the sky!!!
Be brave as usual and keep your lovely smile. Watching Crusoe who likes all that's happening around him must makes you forget all the temporary "chaos". Olives are all for Crusoe!!!
Thanks Luisa, renovations are never easy but they are worth it in the end. We will definitely continue being Brave and Thinking Big. Thanks so much for watching friend, we always love hearing from you ❤️❤️❤️
Caruso’s such a busy little man. I bet he sleeps well through the night from all the fresh air and activity he gets into😅 It will be fun to see baby Sawyer’s personality blossoming as he grows! I do hope you are able to brine the olives for eating and hopefully will have water flowing from the faucets, Tara. Have a happy, hope filled week, family Newby’s🥰
We can't wait to see the two boys running around on the farm and creating so many memories. Thanks so much for watching Judith 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Those birds wanted to bring you some peace, Tara…. Just what you needed. So lovey! Such a nice video this week. Good as always to see you friends. ~ Jen
They knew exactly what I needed Jen, it was such a beautiful moment. Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
I was raised and lived with glaze mud all my life. Gum boots are a must for you both and the children And Gravel driveways are a real blessing. Also in the shot term you need a 4 by 4 lol. It’s hard taking on such a big project and starting a family give yourself a break the little ones are healthy and you are doing a wonderful job. When I had 4 under five I learned that I could only concentrate on one small project at a time. That helped me tremendously to get through the day. Keep up the good work.
That's right Andree, taking it one step at a time is the best way. Thanks so much for watching friend, we are so appreciate of your support 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
How absolutely blessed you are to have such good and knowledgeable neighbors in Joel and his father! And the wonderful lady that gave you the chicken and duck, that is always so helpful and kind. Getting a proficient plumber is right up there also! You both have the right attitude and that will take you to great heights of success on your homestead. I always looked forward to see what happens next!
Very exciting Cynthia! We can’t wait for the future projects and are really loving each and every day. Great to hear from you friend, its been quite a week! Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡
I couldn’t help but marvel at how much comfort the lawn brought to Tara and the boys this week. Between the lawn, the terraces, the courtyard and your construction projects, your home will feel like a home again soon!
We can't wait friend. Thanks so much for watching 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Happy stay in Portugal. You deserve the best! Prosit!💙
Thank you Jose ❤️❤️❤️
You are both so optimist. Without water inside the house I would be in despair. And with two babies. You`re brave ! I`m sure the problem will be solved ☀ Sending love from Lisbon
Thanks so much Rosario ❤️❤️❤️
Tara I knew you would be supper mom! I can’t believe everything you get done with those two little guys is amazing.
Ah thank you Donna, that is too kind of you to say. Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
Well geez 🙄 I feel for you guys. So grateful your lil guys are healthy and happy. John doesn’t appear to have raging fits. Not all men are mature enough to take on these huge tasks without losing it. 🥴 It’s amazing to watch all the great people who are surrounding you to help. I’m so glad I found your channel. Sawyer is holding his head up and is a little kiss magnet 😘. You face challenge after challenge with courage; nice to see. Love to all.
Thanks so much Denie. Great to hear from you friend, we are so grateful for your support! 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
I‘m so glad you are back to your enthusiastic positive self
Thanks so much friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Thankyou Newbys, another lovely, happy video of my weekly visit with you all. 🌈🐨💕
Thanks so much for watching Jill ❤️❤️❤️
Wow-a lot of progress on the farm! I know it is stressful not having any water, but hopefully that will be resolved soon! I know you will be so glad to get settled in one place! That was a wonderful crop of olives! I know you all will do everything you can with each olive! Little Sawyer is so adorable! He is a miniature Crusoe! 🥰 Take care, stay safe, and look forward to seeing you next week! 💜🙏
Thanks Teresa, we can't wait to see what we get from this harvest! So exciting! Thanks so much for watching friend, the boys send lots of love and thanks for your constant support ❤️❤️❤️
@@TheNewbys aww, you're very welcome! Give those sweet babies hugs for me! 💙💙
Always a joy to watch your vlogs, look forward too many more, Joel is such a lovely young man... I like his gentle manner and shyness.
Thanks so much Christine, he is very gentle and amazing at what he does 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Such respect on how you seem to balance it all so well. A newborn, a remodel, the channel, life in general. You all work so hard, it’s good to see that you get help where needed. Also I like that you also enjoy your life. Big hugs!
Thanks so much Dave, you are too kind. We try focus on the positives in every situation! Sending lots of hugs and love to you ❤️❤️❤️
Love the progress you have made with the land and buildings. Crusoe looked like he was having a lot of fun in the mud. It reminds me of my boys playing in the mud when they were Crusoe's age.
Thanks so much for watching Mary, Crusoe absolutely LOVES the mud haha 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Hello Tara, I am so happy to hear you talk about your love for the farm, especially your love for the trees and how you plan to honor them when they are cut down by using all that they offer. Your family is just the sweetest thing to watch. Love your channel. Joan
Thanks so much Joan 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
My son, Guy is a Property Developer doing a lot of the work himself with his team. Since he started that journey I have learned a whole new vocabulary and come to realise that one has to have a good understanding of building maths, stressing, etc.
Guy and Team TQP (his company) have almost completed a large new build in Warminster during which he also put me in a super little en suite with a fantastic large shower - ultra modern. And some sliding fitted wardrobes. Egyptian Cotton and French grey the colour theme. During all this he and his team got covid. Then he went paddle boarding and mountain biking down to Cornwall and fractured his ribs - ouch! On Boxing Day he and his family are off skiing in France taking GOOSE a massive hound (Settador) travelling by car .
Guy has always been accident prone - broke his wrist on The Death Slide at Scouts. Fractured his lower leg when seventeen on his motorcycle ( I taught him to ride being a fully qualified RAC/ACU Motorcycle Instructor - he just didn't observe one of the fundamental rules I taught him)
Now I am awaiting him to start on my new kitchen. The last kitchen I had fitted was done by a serial drinker who messed up big style and I had to lay him off and get another.
Good luck with all the renovations. Patience is a virtue - hang onto that saying when things get tricky. xxElsa-mariexx
Thanks so much Elsa-Marie, we appreciate your advice ❤️❤️❤️
What an absolute delight crusoe is! Love how you are parenting him.
Thank you Leonie ❤️❤️❤️
Love your family so much! The way you are able to accept these challenges and continue on with faith that it will all work out, is so heartwarming! God bless!
Thanks so much for watching Grace 🇵🇹❤️🙏
You 2 are doing an amazing job all tings considerate 👏👏
Thank you friend. 👍🙏
Watching your attempt to pick through the olives and trying to get the boys to sleep, touched my heart. My children were about the same age difference, and the first 3 months after my son was born were so hard. Stuck in an apartment with no friends and no family to help, in the cold and snowy winter, I remember trying to get both of them ready and crying. They were on such different schedules. I am so happy to see you have the space and sunshine to get out with your boys.
It's not an easy task but I absolutely love it. Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
Hi beautiful people as always thank you for sharing your recent adventures oh my goodness the mud 🤦♀️ Tara you are a trooper and as a parent of twins & now grandparent of a 14 mth old I know it’s not easy you do everything with a smile on your face you both do have a great week love & light 🧡💚❤️🤎
Thanks Tracy! It’s a busy time for sure! Thanks so much for your very insightful comment, not every day is easy, but we muddle through! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️🙏

Dear Tara, John, Crusoe and Sawyer, great respect for you Tara keeping a baby and toddler while being busy on your farm not easy. We thank God for your neighbours help, wish I was one, would have help you collecting the olives, my mother in her youth loved collecting olives, making oil and brining them, so glad the work is being done at it's pace but done. We rejoice with you the sun always comes through. We see the beauty of the farm through your eyes. Sawyer is an angel. God bless you all.🙏💖🌺🥰
Hi Joanne, we have the absolute BEST neighbours ever. They have helped us tremendously! Sawyer is growing up so quickly, can't wait to see him and Crusoe running around on the farm and making so many memories! Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful seeing all the progress you are making, soon you will have water.
You both amaze me how you remain happy and positive. Keep smiling dear friends and thanks for taking the time to make this very enjoyable video. 🌸
Thanks so much Irene, we are trying our best to stay positive throughout this process. We are so glad you enjoyed this episode friend. Sending you lots of love ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Newbys Enjoy watching you every Sunday night. Just goes to show alot of hard work and good teamwork and things will come together beautifully.
It was lovely to see Sawyer and Crusoe enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Now that Crusoe is getting older he is developing his own little personality. He is a real little boy playing in the mud. The farm is definitely the ideal place for the 2 boys to grow and thrive.
Cheers from Australia.
Hi Sandra, it definitely does take some team work! Thanks so much for watching all the way in Australia, sending you lots of love ❤️❤️❤️
My routine every Sunday morning is to make everyone breakfast and then watch you guys while having my morning coffee. Love the content and watching everything transforming on the farm.
Ah we are so glad we could spend your Sunday morning with you Marisol. Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
😀💙 oh my So adorable seeing Crusoe doing what a 2 year old does 😂! Love that you’re using the lawn already even if it’s just to soothe two young children! The olive trees are beautiful though - anyway you can cut a branch and try to grow a sapling from it in some pots? May you all have a wonderful weeke!
Crusoe is so busy but absolutely loves being on the farm. We should definitely try something like that friend! Thanks so much for watching, we are so appreciate of your support 🌳🫒😊🇵🇹❤️🙏
Tara you are doing a great job. No judgement from me as you are a wonderful mother and you work so hard. You are a great team
Thanks so much Margaret 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Happy Sunday ❤
Thanks so much friend. Happy Sunday ❤️❤️❤️
Sunday morning ☕ with my fav family 💋💋💋💋
Yay! Thanks so much for watching Darrin 🇵🇹❤️🙏
@@TheNewbys Tara, your are spot on about how therapeutic Nature is. Gathering those olives, with a baby bundled to your chest, and listening to the music of the bird song is bliss. But think about it, too, that Portuguese women have been doing that in the same way for hundreds of years. And there you are, continuing, beautifully!
Hi John, Tara and boys! I just want to thank you both again for including me on your journey with this great video. It's hard enough what you are doing with the farm and raising two little guys without having to make sure we are along for the ride. Just wow! You are doing it and doing it well. Look forward to next weeks progress! No expectations from me on how fast or slow the journey may be. All I want for you both is to be able to enjoy the journey. Life goes by so fast and I love watching the two of you making the most out of each moment. You both have my deepest respect and prayers!
Hi Laura, thank you for joining us on this journey. Each day we get a step closer to our end goal! Thanks so much for watching and your constant support, we always love reading comments like this ❤️❤️❤️
I am so happy to see your family today! Looks like you are making lemonaid out of lemons. Being in nature always recharges my batteries also, Tara. Progress is definately being made! Lots of challenges but inspite of them you are moving forward! Keep up the good work!
We are so glad you enjoyed this episode Barbara. We are definitely trying to make lemonade out of lemons! Thanks so much for your constant support friend, it means the world to us 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Joel and his father are so kind to help you. The team are cracking on inside. Looking forward to another big step forward on the homestead 😊
We are blessed with such an incredible community and neighbours Maria. Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Oh my....when Tara was pushing the stroller to put crusoe to sleep and you sped it up I was sitting here laughing so hard I almost peed my pants. My lifelong policy is that a day without laughter is a wasted day. I know things have been harder than you thought it would be but remember tomorrow the sun will come up! Take care of each other and try to laugh until you pee!!😁🤣🤪
We couldn't agree more Kathy, a day without laughter is a day wasted! Thanks so much for watching and laughing with us friend ❤️❤️❤️
Hello John, Tara, Crusoe and Sawyer……thanks for all your ongoing efforts with releasing great vlogs keeping us up to date with your progress…..it must be exhausting for you guys but it’s great for all of us who are so enjoying your adventures! 🥰 now I’ve had my Sunday Newby fix I can go get some of my own chores done haha! Have a good week. Best wishes and ❤️ Julie 😊
Hello Julie, it has been exhausting but it will be worth it in the end! We are so glad we could spend some of this Sunday with you! Hope you have a great week friend ❤️❤️❤️
The construction is coming along nicely. That huge olive tree was harvested, and now it will provide food to eat, and olive oil for cooking. I’m so glad you’ve had more days of sunshine because it is a treat to see Tara and the boys on that huge lawn enjoying themselves.
Thanks Mona! Yes we would like a little more sun, but are very grateful for the rain too. 🙏🙏
So glad you had a better day on the farm. You deserve a break! lol The boys are looking so good and growing. Little Sawyer looks very content and Crusoe is his usual darling self.
The boys really are growing up so quickly! Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏

It does indeed Anna, Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏

🙋hi lovely family thank you for sharing another fantastic vidio I really enjoy following you at the farm glad the sun came out and the rain let up great that you can get out and about the rain here in Scotland has been horrendous I live just outside of Edinburgh the flooding has been so scary it's the same n many places I am praying you get your water sorted out some time soon stay safe till next time cheers 🍷 Anne from Scotland ☔☔☔
Hi Anne, please stay safe friend! Thanks so much for watching, we are so appreciate of your support ❤️❤️❤️
I have often wondered how my mum with 8 kids in 12 years managed to work, she must have been exhausted most of the time, I was two when she got twins. The work is coming along nicely, cant wait to see the diffrence next Sunday🥰
Thanks so much for watching friends, sending you lots of love ❤️❤️❤️
Oh Bless you guys. Doing all that work with 2 small boys needing constant watching. I feel for you. They are such angels when asleep or quietly playing. One of our grand daughter's and parents came for supper yesterday. She is 2 1/2 years old. She rearranged and poked things away. I love her so much and enjoyed our visit. When she got in the car to go home she yelled, bye, bye Papi, love you. How sweet.
I know you will do great things with the olives. So glad to see things moving along. Big hugs to you all.
Hi Peter! You have hit the nail on the head there! Lovely to hear about your grand daughter 2 and a half is a busy age, Crusoe is heading that way, he’s 20 months right now and sooooo busy!! Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡
It was so lovely to see when you and the toodlers pic the olives, stay brave and see the end of the tunnel, soon you have your haven ready to move in 💖💖💖
We can't wait Anu. Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Tara I just wish I was close enough to you to just come and lend a hand, someone to walk the baby round in the pushchair or take Cruseo for a walk, you are a superwoman getting the kitchen sorted out while looking after the two boys, let alone pick olives, thank you for giving your precious time to create the videos for us to enjoy, and John, you are doing a great job getting the house sorted for the family, sending love to you all xx
Thanks Sheila, thanks so much for watching friend. We are so appreciate of your support 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Tara it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get something done it matters that you keep at it which you do. Being a mom of two and helping where you can says a lot about you. It doesn’t matter how fast it happens as the end result is the same. John and Tara it will be so much easier living on the farm. I love this family. I don’t have to say how adorable the boys are as you have them with you and know for yourselves. Have a wonderful week and take care Newby family.
Thanks Debbie, we are taking it day by day and we will get there in the end. Thanks so much for watching friend, we are so appreciative of your constant support. Sending you lots of love ❤️❤️❤️
The running around the yard..🤣 Mom life! I think olives are usually shaken down onto a net which will be easier when they're/you're ready, that tree was too tall. Lovely video as always.
Mom life indeed friend haha Thanks so much for watching 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Good morning, Newbys. Good to see your olive harvest. It looks like progress is being made in the kitchen. See you next week❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good morning Carol! John is doing such an incredible job in the kitchen - can't wait to see the finished product!! See you on Sunday friend, thanks so much for your constant support ❤️❤️❤️
Lovely VLOG as usual. Here’s a thought. Can you use mulch say from chipping up the small olive branches etc. and starting to mulch in the driveway to absorb moisture and add some stability to the muddy drive? Obviously a large of load of pea gravel would do wonders but I’m sure expensive, seems to me that a wood chipper might be a useful tool at this moment. Not an expert but did live in Venezuela where in the rainy season at our horse barns, the muchachos would do this to help with very muddy and slick pathways. By the way, Crusoe is such a stitch…. Listening to him say, bad, bad, bad, when you were sorting olives, he’s a joy!❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much Caroline, that is a great idea! Definitely something we will look into. Thanks so much for watching friend 🫒😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
I loved Crusoe with his upside glasses and saying bad. Sawyer is beautiful. Tara, you are what I call a natural mammy to 2 wonderful boys, and somehow, you make it all work with so much poise. We, as watchers, love how positive you and your videos are, but we love seeing the realness of it too when things are not as smooth running. It reminds us that you are humans with real feelings, so never apologise. Your face and manner showed how much pleasure and how special your time on the farm was. I think those birds were for you to enjoy privately, a gift for you so to speak. You are also nature mother, which is apparent when you talk about the energy from the tree. I may remind you next week to do something with them, not to be mean, but because I know you would hate the effort of the tree going to waste. John would some wooden planks (old 1s or something) put down on the drive help as a temporary measure with the quagmire. Also you are going to have some wonderful olive wood that you can put to use in some project. And finally ("phew bout time" you say) the speeded up bit of the you all towards the end was so funny. Love and light to you wonderful Newby's.
Ps loved the cloud shots right at the beginning xx
Thanks Mary! Some great ideas there, the planks of wood is a great idea. It’s been an exciting week on the farm and we are all having a lot of fun, even though the rain continues unabated! Lots of projects upcoming and of course we have a house to finish and move in to! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. ❤️❤️❤️🙏

Just wonderfu! In this video, you ALL "weathered" so many difficult situations and, in the end, the sun was shining and you came out on top! Tara, I admire how much freedom you give to Carusoe and, obviously much trust you place in the Lord. So pleased you have such good neighbors and workman. Your love reaches out to all of us, too! Thank you! Patricia
We are really blessed with such amazing neighbours Patricia, don't know what we would do without them. Thanks so much for watching friend 🇵🇹❤️🙏
Sorry, this reply got away from me. I hope the first part came through. I was suggesting digging out those concrete posts with the metal angle coming off if them at the top.. If they came out in fairly one piece and the metal removed, they could be used as curbs/liners to hold in the gravel you might put down for the driveway. OR, Now, they could placed horizontally in staggered positions as a short term solution in the worst spots. Finally, if the concrete broke up entirely, the pieces could be "softened" and spread about in the worst sections. This is surely a job for the future but maybe food for thought from your senior, long legged lady friend. God bless you all. Patricia
Hello John, Tara, Crusoe & Sawyer. Good to hear from you and see what all is happening there. I know it hasn’t been easy along with having two boys to take care of but you have a lot to be thankful for and can’t wait to see how everything turns out in the house. So until next time, take care love you guys and God bless❤🙏🏻💐
Hello Doria. Yes we definitely have a lot to be thankful for! We are just as excited to see the finished product. Thanks so much for watching friend, we always love hearing from you 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
Thank you for be strong, good bless to be in Portugal
Thanks so much Ana ❤️❤️❤️
Good morning family!!! Mother Nature is so therapeutic and breathtaking. I wish more people understand how important it is to connect with living organisms and let the elements of life interact with each other. You guys are doing such an amazing job with Crusoe and Sawyer allowing the boys to be free and explore. Excited to see the olive oil and how you are going to preserve the rest of the olives. Thank you for acknowledging the valley and downfalls. On another note World Cup is here. Make sure to pause to drink 🍺 and watch some games !!!! Have an amazing week family! Love as always from Jersey-Mariana ❤
Good morning Mariana, being outside in nature is sometimes all the 'therapy' you need. Thanks for the reminder friend, we have totally lost track of time! Thanks so much for watching friend, sending you lots of love ❤️❤️❤️
Water water everywhere but not a drop to spare! It's a blessing but only when it can be can be controlled ! I get a kick out of Crusoe navigating the terrain! Like the march of the penguins!!! 😂😂😂 In his cute little dinosaur 🦕🦕🦕🦕 outfit! Someday Crusoe will be an amazing Engineer with all the knowledge he is gathering in his healthy little brain!! ❤❤
My goodness Tara is becoming a frontier woman! Baby strapped to her chest, toddler running around, collecting olives and no running water. Just imagine reflecting back on this in years to come when it’s smooth sailing. What a lovely positive family adventure xx
Thank you Karen 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
I wish I had a mum like you x
That is so sweet of you to say friend, thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Those tiny, little, pink Crocs. Be still my heart.
Aren't they just too cute! Thanks so much for watching Katie 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
My lovely husband and co renovator David has these sayings, “you can’t have progress without a mess” and “there’s no mistakes in the building game, you just make it right!”. No one will ever judge you, you are a wonderful happy family and we love following your progress. Best love and good vibes all the way from Tassie, Australia 💗💗💗
Thank you Cathran, these are very wise words friend. 👍 big hugs to Australia and you. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. 🙏❤️❤️👍
You can make some beautiful spoons from the olive wood!
That way you will honour that tree every time you prepare food. That will be such a big blessing!! 💜💜💜💜💜
Hi Olhamo! That’s a great idea! Spoons from the olive tree, John loves a project! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.
I have two boys who are now 16 and 13. Every age has its challenges, but nothing compares to having two boys the ages of Sawyer and Crusoe. I promise it only gets easier from here. You guys are incredible. Enjoy it while it lasts!
Thank you Meliss ❤️❤️❤️
You are amazing people indeed! Just look at that spectacular lawn! John, you worked so hard to create it, and now you can enjoy it with your beautiful family. The farm is a wonderful place to raise your boys. Thank you for sharing your projects with us! ❤
Thanks Francesca! We are super pleased with the lawn, and all this rain is making even stronger!! Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend.
Once again my weekend is now complete after seeing your progression with your farm, despite the dreadful weather.
Thanks Lindsay!
The look on your face Tara when deciding where to begin to clean up the little kitchen, with a newborn and toddler in tow! Absolutely exhausting period of your lives, but such precious memories (from the other end at least). Crushed sandstone is a cheap and effective way to remedy that quagmire issue.
Thanks Julia, you’re right, we are both pretty tired right now! Making memories is so important. Thanks so much for watching and taking this journey with us, your support is so very much appreciated! 👍🙏🇵🇹🏡

We could down several bottles of great Portuguese wine while we lament over the many seemingly insurmountable roadblocks there were while we built our business in New Mexico. It was a thermal spa. So, we know your headaches with water!
Keep following your heart and counting your blessings!!
Thanks Tanya, sometimes the roadblocks really feel impossible to get through but we are so glad you did! Thanks so much for watching friend, we are so appreciate of your support 😊🇵🇹🏡❤️
