Willaim was her firstborn son. He had 4 younger sisters who all lived well into their eighties and nineties. Sadly, Willliam's poor mother lost two more infant sons at birth and 4 days old. They came after his sisters. So his parents lost three sons. I can imagine his sisters reminiscing on the big brother and baby brothers taken from the family so young.
Thanks so much for the additional into 🙏 So sad that William's brothers passed so young, but how lovely that all of his sisters lived to a ripe old age!
Thank you for the information on his family, so very sad none of the boys survived, the sisters had long lives , I truly believe they are all joined in heaven now ❤🙏
The loss of a child is always devastating. I have no doubt he IS riding his bicycle in heaven and doing other 13-year-old things, too; playing baseball, fishing, shooting marbles and more. Forever Young. May sweet William Rest in Peace. Thank you for sharing his story, Ron.
Dearest Ron… William looks like a sleeping angel. What a beautiful child. His handsome face reflects the personality he had, in my mind. Kind, loving, always smiling… big hopes for his future. Such a smart boy, too. You have the talent to make me actually see him on his beloved bicycle. I’m not ever forgetting him. Ever❤❤
Times gone by make me sad. I'm a couple of years from 70 now, and I wonder if anyone will ever be curious about my life. Thank you for what you do Darlin. Watching from Texas
I don't know much about photography, so I am asking: why is the "S" on the sign, over the seat of the bike? Something doesn't look right there. The lower right corner of the sign is overlapping the bike.
That is so true! My aunt took pictures in 1938 when she went to Europe. The prints were a little small, I scanned them at high resolution and was amazed at the detail in the photographs and how well they held up enlarged. I asked her what kind of camera she had back then and she said it was a brownie camera! 😮
A young teen, a life cut short. His shoes are very dressy. If he got the shoes while he was alive, I'll bet you the shoes are 2 sizes too large for room to grow to get the maximum use out of the expensive footwear. Rip buddy ❤ Thank you, Ron. This video is very moving.
This story reminds me of the Timpano crypt in North Hibbing cemetery in Minnesota. A young girl named Toney Timpano died in 1915. She was buried in the basement level of the crypt sitting at her grand piano. Every day her father Tony could be seen walking to the crypt carrying a fresh clean dress to wear. When decomposition took over the basement was sealed. Mrs. Timpano died in 1960. She had a glass top coffin. The story is told that when nature started taking it’s toll Tony went to the local beauty school and asked them if someone could go there and fix her up. The crypt was open for several years. There are two interesting articles regarding this story in the Hibbing Hometown Focus newspaper. If you ever go there it’s around the corner from the very haunted greyhound bus museum.
This one hit me hard. I suppose it was the photograph with the bicycle. I can only imagine a vibrant teen, so proud of his beloved bicycle , riding it to run errands or enjoy the outdoors. Thanks Ron for such a beautiful tribute and not forgetting this young man. RIP William. 🌹
I discovered a terrible story in France about a killer priest who killed his very pregnant girlfriend who was only 18 and the newborn baby girl too😢 her name is Regine and she has been forgotten as well 😢 and a certain organization who refuses to acknowledge what that priest did still after all this time I only wished that you could travel to France to find her grave, like you do here.
What a beautiful tribute to his memory. So many people, young and old, died in those times from pneumonia and/or TB. Life is precious. Thank you for this story to remind us.
I'm guessing, but one of my first bicycles had a little satchel like that. It contained a lever/spanner and some tyre patches. It was a good little repair kit.
Such a beautiful young boy. Perfect features, I can tell he was greatly loved and would have been welcomed into heaven with open arms. Rest well precious William. ❤🙏
Williams family and friends sound so loving. He would have felt that love surrounding him as he lay ill and will now be reunited with all his loved ones in Heaven. God bless them all. 💚 Thank you Ron for such a heartfelt tribute.
What a sad story, I live in Cleveland, TN near the gravesite. Never heard of this story, but not originally from the area. I lost a friend, Wayne, he was also 13 yrs. when he passed from a bicycle accident. We would ride our bikes together daily to elementary school.😢
Can you imagine a time when you could actually do an eulogy and express grief as well as personal memories. How disconnected we have become. Another beautiful show of respect Ron. Thank you.
Nice video, nice private cemetery too. I believe the little pouch behind the seat was a puncture kit (spanner and patches). That is a fairly flash looking bike. Design did not change much over 50 years.
Such a sad story, thanks for sharing Ron. I'm glad that he will never be forgotten, he can pedal that bicycle to his hearts content. Take care Ron. Looking forward to your next video.
You do these videos with such love and dignity. Passed after 13 yrs and one month. I wonder if that bicycle was his birthday gift just one month before.
The past is marred by too many children being claimed by death. It's always most tragic when a child dies, because they never had the chance to fulfill their dreams.
So sad, yet touching and sweet. No better way to remember their loved boy than to have him with the things he loved. Thank you, Ron. He will be remembered always.
Would you consider doing a story on Ursula Sunshine Assaid? There is a book that was written. I was in middle school when it happened, in Central Florida. Because it was in our town they came to our school and talked to us all for a week and they gave us her book to read and wanted us to do reports. I had never read anything like that, nor have I since. It shook me to the core and has stuck with me for decades. I feel like she's being forgotten. She should never be forgotten l. Thank you.
Hi Ron, I just wanted to say I have spent all the last week and a half watching all your videos back to back. I am so grateful for your dedication and your team with their support for these amazing stories. I have learned so much from you and I look forward to many more videos to come. Much love from Australia xx
Could you please do more back up stories on the mortuary photos? I have been fascinated with them all my life and often wished I knew their personal stories. This one was so sad.
This story was so bittersweet in a way. As much as it is painful, your beautiful description of the scene, calling attention to the clear detail and the homage in the article and card of thanks told a story of a promising future that was cut so short. It told of the indelible mark and lasting cherished impressions that he left in his short time here on earth. Thank you, Ron. This was truly beautiful and is a lasting reminder to appreciate everyone in your life.
Awesome black and white photo and story Ron thanks for remembering this boy on his bicycle 🚲 laid out and now in heaven 🙏🙏 ..bless his heart ❤️ and rest in peace .....❤ Mary watching from Arkansas....😢😢😢😢 so sad
What a sad tale, full of melancholy. Thank you Ron. I had a ladies old fashioned bicycle when I was young similar to William's bike. He must have spent many happy hours riding it. Stay safe and keep well. Zora in Australia.
He had so much potential, seemed like such a great kid, very tragic and sad. I lost a friend at 10 years old (same age as me back then) who had much potential, very good grades at school, plenty of awards at the end of the year for best in her club, best at sports, best attendance. Then suddenly, just gone like that. I can imagine everyone’s pain and trauma at having to witness this. Back in 1916 you didn’t have much medical care and so internal injuries or broken bones from a fall or accident (motor or horse or carriage) were more often than not fatal. RIP William. Gone but not forgotten
Omg this is so very sad. Children shouldn’t have this happen. I lost my 18 month old grandson 7 years ago but feels like yesterday. God bless you for your wonderful stories ❤️🙏
How wonderful you speak...so wonderul, with respect..with Love ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 thanks so much for this story from the boy with the 🚲 With Love from Germany🌻Keki🌻
You did a great job narrating this video. Maybe too good. This is me after watching this. It made me long for my 17 years old son.❤❤❤❤❤❤😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Such a sad story. My heart ached while I listened and tears filled my eyes. Thank you for remembering this young man. You are always so respectful! Keep up the great work you are doing!❤
Wow.. Just woke up, its the middle of the night in sweden ca 3.30 soon morning, and decided to watch this. Beautiful! But now I am A bit sad. No, not sad, but a little melankolik (think I spelled that wrong). I am going back to sleep and I hope that I will dream about a bicycle ❤. But it will probably be my new electic one 😊. Thank you for materials för dreams Ron❤❤

Life truly isnt fair at times, a lovely boy who died far too soon! Thanks once again Ron for making me cry, but I enjoy watching your stories very much from Scotland and no doubt will cry once more!
What a sad story. 13 is so young. They didn't have the medicines for things back then like the later years. You described the details at the beginning respectfully Ron and told William's story well. May he have Peace.

Such a handsome 13 year old. So sad but knowing he's an angel in heaven these many years.

Being a photographer, I gotta say that the photography back then was amazing with the simple cameras they had

He most likely died of sepsis. There were no antibiotics at that time and many folks died of infection after an injury that broke the skin.
