proof that people by with emotions and not logic :) The Jeep does look iconic and it is great off-road. It doesn't compromise to suit everyone but it is a hit with a niche which probably makes it so successful. There's a cult following.
Fiat has actually has done a pretty good job of improving the quality of Chrysler's vehicle brands, but they still have a long way to go. It was Sergio Marchionne himself that publicly admitted how awful the JK was during its first few years. You can thank Fiat for addressing the incredibly poor interior quality of the Wrangler in 2011 and introducing a far superior powertrain for 2012. Unfortunately, such efforts were too little too late and the JK didn't really get the love it deserved until it reached the end of its production cycle. The JL is the JK done right and it's the Wrangler we should've had five years ago.
My mom had one of these. I think as a Jeep, it would make a good off road vehicle. Although my mom didn’t use it for that. She used it as her grocery getter style car. For those purposes, the ride is just not great and it is a massive gas guzzler. With her driving, she somehow got it to get only 4 MPG. I didn’t even know that was possible. She also had problems with the rear defrost wire coming off along with the transfer case being broken from the factory. Assuming you get one that doesn’t have these problems though, I am sure it makes a good off road vehicle. My mom certainly wouldn't be able to drive hers now that she has a roughly 1 hour commute each day she works. That would be awful on gas especially with how gas prices are now, so she traded it for a Honda Civic. My overall thoughts on this Jeep. If you plan to go off-road frequently, this would be something to look at. I don’t really recommend it as a grocery getter though since that is simply not what it is designed for.
Really appreciate your reviews. They're different from other RUclips channels because most of the time you give a clear and decisive opinion on the car instead of just providing facts. I believe they are now hitting the top of what they can raise the price which indicate that history might not be a good predictor for future retained value going forward (although relatively they may still keep their value pretty good vs other vehicles)

He keeps talking about new appearance items. Does the automatic transmission fall apart after a year or two ? Buy a new one with manual transmission. Old automatic transmissions are better than the new ones.
91%? Umm, how is that good? Like I get it, it holds its value, but if I want to buy this car, why would I buy it used when I can pay the extra 9% and get new? Especially an off road vehicle where you're not sure how bad it was used in the mud.
Pepper Shaker you’re referring to “selec trac” and yes that’s only available on the Sahara. It’s auto 4h. Others have 4h where you can’t really drive them on dry roads in that setting.
Did you ever try to drive one from coast to coast, I know a guy who went through 3 radiators driving one from Chatham, New Brunswick to Comox, BC on Vancouver Island, overheated really bad in the summer towing a small trailer.

Not a bad vehicle. But very overpriced. The powertrain is pretty mediocre but FCA charges BMW X3 money for a non-luxury SUV all because it’s unique. Based on the reliability of the last generationis not worth the price.
Louis Win it is expensive yes but not over priced since right now there are no alternatives. I off road a lot (not in a jeep) and there is no other vehicle that offers 2 beefy live axles, 3 locking diffs, sway bar disconnect, 2 transfer case etc. if you want to off-road and on road this combination is unique and since they have no competition they have raised their prices by a lot. Because they can. A lot of people including myself are sitting on the sidelines because of price. Next 2 years we will see some competition as the Ford Bronco is returning and ford ranger. That will keep next year model price increase in check and will push down used values.
Huh? The powertrain is hardly mediocre. Is it starting to show its age? Sure. However, the Pentastar is one of the best naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engines ever created. The 8-speed automatic transmission is fantastic. This is the powertrain the Wrangler should have had five years ago.
Pentastar is great. Driven them since the days of the 5AT in the GC.. Yes, it sure was mediocre then! But, not since direct injection and more gears.. and from everything I've seen, heard and read the 2.0t is fantastic as well.. Really anxious to try it with the 8AT because I've heard terrible things about it's lag paired with the 9AT... Pentastar is excellent though, especially the more recent ones.. Only reason i'd buy it over the 2.0t is for it's smoothness and consistent robustness. guy doesn't really know what he's talking about. oh well!
In 1992 my dad paid $13995 for a 5spd hardtop. $14,900 for the automatic with pin striping. We got it because it was cheap/cool. Not so cheap or cool anymore imo.
I'm good with my Tacoma. Off-roading, towing, practicality, reliability you name it. It beats this Jeep in any category. At the end of the day FCA can't come anywhere closer to TOYOTA.
My dad has a 2002 Toyota Tundra. He bought it brand new and it’s still driving strong. Has driven it various times to Mexico and back since he bought it. No one can beat a Toyota! My brother has a Toyota fj cruiser and it’s over 300,000 miles and he still strong! And what’s amazing, my brother does the least to keep up with maintenance 🤯 just thought I would share 😉
if the residuals were 91% after 4 years these things should lease for $100 a month with nothing down. if it cost $36000 a 36 mnth lease x $100 = 3600 which is 10%.
tmwall25 You’re forgetting interest rate which is 6.09% on the lease. Also Jeep would never set the residual at 90%. More likely they would set it closer to 60%. They are a business. If they get the Jeep back after lease end they want to be able to resell it and make another 10 grand off the next buyer. Setting the residual at 90% would lose them money on lease returns.
Aleks Lajzer One would have to buy it with cash and sell it to take advantage of the small depreciation. Then there's an issue of opportunity cost of the cash paid for the car.
I just looked at a Rubicon stickers at $53K! Had big plastic bumpers. I understand there is an option for metal bumpers? lol... ridiculous. I love all the wranglers, but every generation looks less "jeep" like to me. These look nice but more car like/trend with the sculpted panels, the integrated lights, big plastics.
Only reason i'd buy it over the 2.0t is for it's smoothness and consistent robustness. guy doesn't really know what he's talking about. oh well!
Scott Bott you know you secretly want a jeep right? LOL how many disco buyers are off roading with it?
efibendor1 not to mention every one is a convertible 4X4 with the most extensive aftermarket of any vehicle on sale now.
In 1992 my dad paid $13995 for a 5spd hardtop. $14,900 for the automatic with pin striping. We got it because it was cheap/cool. Not so cheap or cool anymore imo.
Man I like it!
Sucks they made the wrangler with the old 8 inch screen when all the new FCA products will be getting that massive 12 incher in the ram.
I'm sold.
I'm good with my Tacoma. Off-roading, towing, practicality, reliability you name it. It beats this Jeep in any category. At the end of the day FCA can't come anywhere closer to TOYOTA.
Toyota builds the best vehicles, and most of the world would agree with that.
But you can't take the doors or top off. Boring
Just got a used
if the residuals were 91% after 4 years these things should lease for $100 a month with nothing down. if it cost $36000 a 36 mnth lease x $100 = 3600 which is 10%.
tmwall25 You’re forgetting interest rate which is 6.09% on the lease.
@@gs98999 Who does 6% interest thsedays? thats a serious rip off
90%amazing
How does that back up camera work when you put a wheel cover on it? 😂😂😂😂😂
Chris Ramsey Make a hole for it lol
Chris Ramsey 😂😂😂
I'd be more worried about dirt, grime and mud.
I like it😍🥰😘❤️❣️
My eyes said yes. My bank account said heck no, here’s your wipes and diapers. 😭💩
Send it and I'll give it a try
I just looked at a Rubicon stickers at $53K! Had big plastic bumpers. I understand there is an option for metal bumpers? lol... ridiculous. I love all the wranglers, but every generation looks less "jeep" like to me. These look nice but more car like/trend with the sculpted panels, the integrated lights, big plastics. The soft top looked funny, poofy almost like the jeep got a toupee or something, sure they ride nice. But ridiculous prices.
And the vents that’s how I spot them
