Thank you for this! It confirmed my decision to buy this unit, over much more expensive brands. Note, that Rove has made some updates to this model which make it even better: One, the R3 now supports up to 512GB memory cards, but pay attention to the requirements! For best operation, I'd buy the Rove-branded card. Second, the mounting is no longer the slide-off, snap on type that confused some owners (although to me it was simple). The new mount is magnetic, you just attach it where you want and can easily remove the camera/screen part with just a firm pull, to securely hide it if you wish. I really like it, and the picture is superb. On top of all that, the instructions are complete and in good English! The box looks the same, but the arrangement of contents is different.
You're welcome Thomas and thanks for sharing the updated mount information, yeah they definitively packed it with cool features (follow up video coming explaining all menu settings) Cheers!
Thank you for the amazing videos, I have been looking to buy some type of dash cam, and even an alarm. I am happy I stumbled on your channels and seeing all the cams. I am looking now to see what ones are my favorite! Keep up the amazing work
This is the third video I watch from you channel, off course I subscribed you explain everything so well, have you done any reviews of aftermarket side view cameras? Like the ones some cars have in the side mirrors

Hi! Unfortunately I have not reviewed the io7 so I can't speak on it's performance however if I add a review a for it in the future I will update this comment. Cheers!
Very good video and review. Yeah, that userid/password will keep me from buying this dashcam. Like you, I am finished with having to log into everything I do. The app looks very nice but looks a bit "involved". What I do like about the VIOFO app is it is pretty much a linear vertical scroll to get to main selections. Quick, easy, and intuitive. I would love to see this cam with the new STARVIS-2 chip.
Thank you Crutch! I appreciate that. Ah yes the Starvis 2 chip.. I actually have one project coming up with uses it, I'm excited to see how much better it performs over the original Starvis. Stay tuned and Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun I have seen some vids from the STARVIS-2 equipped VIOFO A139 Pro 3 channel, it looks real nice but still needs some firmware work. The firmware is literally the true "power" behind any of these chips. Poor FW and the image quality is poor. I look forward to your STARVIS-2 review.
@@crutchclargo Hi Crutch! fully agree with you man, I seen dash cams that share the same sensor with drastically different results, definitely the software behind the scenes makes the difference..
Hi Crutch! I remember you were asking about this, here is my latest review with a Viofo dashcam equipped with the Starvis Sensor 2 ruclips.net/video/gaGlyIYLW-M/видео.html Cheers!
Hi Leon! The GPS is used to log the speed of your car and the coordinates of the location recorded at (which can be helpful as evidence in the event of a car accident) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Does it have a lock/password feature so nobody can get into it and erase files or change settings. Like a Lock Screen of some sort? Useful when taking it in for servicing or valet parking.
Hi Nuno! Nope, so far none of the dash cams I have tested have that feature (which is a great idea by the way) The closets thing we have to that is this one ruclips.net/video/vUEsIYEBVck/видео.html since it can back up the video to a hidden location. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Mattyvisionz! Wifi enabled dash cams do not support remote viewing (The Wifi will be off when the car is in park mode), what you are looking for is a Cloud enabled dash cam like this one ttps://ruclips.net/video/BAEH4f2ulEs/видео.html (live view, geofencing, notifications to your phone etc.) And I have more dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. Hope this helps, Cheers
Hi San! Correct, there is a difference in performance across dash cams that use IR night vision, so what I recommend to people is to compare the footage of the dash cams your considering side by side, that you way can pick the one you like the best (as opposed to just going by the specs of the manufacturer and arbitrarily picking the highest spec) I also recommend the same is done for day and night footage of front and rear cameras. There is no perfect dash cam out there but at least this way you can decide which one looks best based on actual driving footage. And I have more dash cam reviews in my channel under the playlist “Dash Cam Reviews” if you like to compare them. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Just purchased the Rove R3 dash cam (using type C port) and wonder which OBD power adapter you suggest would be best? I don't want to have the Rove hard wired in 23 Maverick Hybrid, but after watching some of your videos, if this is a doable solution for me? I know nothing about auto electronics and hope you can advise. Thank you so much for your informative videos and sharing a wealth of your knowledge.
Hi! Usually OBD2 adapters don't play well with Hybrids or EV Vehicles. While I had viewers use them with success others said it didn't work correctly for them, really seems to depend on the car model (and sometime year). Here is my OBD2 adapter video if you want to see how it works in case you want to try it ruclips.net/video/YEklm9V6xYE/видео.html. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Richard! Ah yes the FitcamX, here is the review for it ruclips.net/video/TvKRKYA7cgQ/видео.html One major thing to consider is how many channels do you need, the FitcamX has dual channel models but not for all car models. And if you need 3 Channels the Rove would be the better choice. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Legendary Encina! ah I think someone tipped you off to the next project I'm working on! LOL I have a mirror dash coming that may be or not be exactly what you are looking for (I can't say much yet since the product is still not released officially) stay tuned Bud!
