The last time I saw Sergio Marchionne, the former CEO of Ferrari, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the Chairman of Maserati, was when he got into one of these fabulous cars during his 2017 visit to England a year before he passed away. He was the man who saved Fiat and Ferrari years ago, especially the Ferrari F1 team when they weren't doing so well. RIP Sergio Marchionne 🙏🏻 🇮🇹 🇨🇦
Rob, Chris a word to the wise. This is a fantastic car but one that the majority who watch your channel will never be able to afford. Please don't go the way of others with successful channels who end up buying super cars as you will lose the audience that this channel is built on. Rebuilding ordinary low mileage late reg cars for half their normal purchase price never gets old..Super cars do . That said i'm looking forward to this build. Good Luck.
@@sruk Everyone seems to forget you're a business, that posts what you do on here. You'd still be buying the same things, even if you dint have a YT channel.
I used to photograph used cars for a large dealership. A trick that starts many hybrids on the engine is accelerator and brake to the floor, push the start button. It bypasses the hybrid battery if it's flat.
Your channel was the first auto channel I subscribed to, and it’s still my favourite despite discovering more, similar channels. Keep up the great content gents!
Hello Rob and Chris, another challenge for you both. No doubt that you are going to get the car and engine sorted.hope Chris is soon going to be feeling better? best wishes from Lincolnshire
22800 plus fees. Night before the auction car was 6k. I think you overpay this one, Rob. This is the only GT model with 2 litre engine. Carvertical valuation no always right for the money they show on raport you can have TROFEO spec with big v8. It was pleasure to bid with you on live auction. Good luck boys
Dont blame you guys for making a good business out of it, you work very hard but It's no wonder insurance premiums are through the roof, insurance companies paying out thousands to write a car like that off, then passing the cost on to us motorists.
That’s a nice car, don’t think you will find many used parts for it but it’s well worth repairing and you both have the skills to make it as good as new.
I love the way Rob and Chris spend £20k + to give us some new and interesting modern salvage repair videos, and they get pages of comments taking the piss about it and it’s heritage 🤦♂️😩 Keep the varied and quality content coming guys, thanks 🙌👍😊
Hi, Rob I know you put it on the screen how much it cost. But as I'm blind would you be able say in the next video please. I love listening to your and Chris's content and never miss one. Thanks Scott.
You guys really do get some corkers. I almost thought that you were going to get it for under £20k at one point, but that is a great deal. Amazing to think that one of those is available. Excellent as ever!
Love your investments guys, when you look back your now in a different league in repairing salvage vehicles, you throughly deserve your rewards, great content boys can’t wait for the next video on this one and the BMW, looking forward to finding out why both cars don’t start.
a great video again guys, who wouldn't take a chance on a car like that, if they had your skill and knowledge. I look forward to all your video's your team work and skill brighten my day while I'm here in Saudi Arabia. looking forward to the next one.
Glad you tracked down a lot of the parts (Eddie's probs not got 'em!) and awesome that there's nothing structural. Hope it doesn't cost an arm n leg to put this one back together as the market's gonna be fairly small. Good luck - it'll be fun to watch this coming together.
Hi 👋🏻 Rob & Chris 😊 hope you’re feeling better soon Chris 🤧 What a lovely bit of salvage Rob 👍🏻 Should be ready for Christmas 🎄 Rob just ready for your Claire to smooch round in it 🤩
My young nephew had the opposite experiance from you guys, he bought a cat N from copart got the wings and bumper went to fit them and found out the frame was twisted🤷♂. great video guys👍
Rob, the Levante also shares a lot of parts with the Alfa Stelvio. Not sure if the leg is the same but worth checking. I’m amazed it’s been written off as a Cat S but good for you guys, nice easy repair by the looks of it. Should be a quick turnaround if you can source the parts.
Hi Rob also try to contact Scuderia Parts for used parts for new contact Maserati in Ascot or HR Owen Hatfield- we can also supply you tyres from Hatfield HR Owen Maserati in MGT Spec
The Levante is based on the same chassis as the Ghibli which as been available since 2013, so there’s a good chance some bits of suspension will be the same
Ooh somthing expensive this time !! I guessed £20 000 you guys paid for it , wasn't far out , absolutely well done guys , I have valeted many maserati s the new stuff is better ( just posh fiats😂 ) love to see this one done ❤!!!
Maserati are owned by Stellantis so the comms will be protected by a security gateway. You can buy adaptor plugs that will enable you to communicate and program the vehicle. Without the adaptors you can't even program a service in.
Someone round the corner from my parents has one of these (pre-facelift) in grey. It is the blandest luxury car I've ever seen, if you debadged it you'd think it was a Hyundai or something. The interior is quite nice though and the facelift rear lights have improved matters. Will be interesting to see how the project goes, I'll looked at buying a Ghibli as they are cheap but you can't even get basic parts like brake discs easily outside of the dealer.
How / why do they write stuff off like this that has relatively minor damage ??? Must be a reason why premiums are so high if they have to compensate an owner on such a big loss.
Nice car, Rob. I must admit that I don't like hybrids, but sometimes you'll have to change your opinion. That Maserati could be fun as a daily driver (I'm not sure my wife agree) but however, it could easily compare to my other dreamcar: Mercedes 450 SLC. Looking forward to see the progress with this.
Great video ,I thought about 28k so what a bargain ,easy repair ,so hopefully a nice profit 👍👍good luck guys going to say these modern cars are getting hard to start after a accident what with all the electronics must be a headache working through it
The reason this would been total loss is an insurance repair so much more money. Genuine parts, alot more documentation Involved when in a insurance approved bodyshop. All political like everything. I'm a vda assessor paint refinisher and car trader for last 30 years. These boys are very good together. We would all love a Chris to have on board, man's a clever chap.
1 minute in 12k well, I was a little low, but so be it great vehicle. Again Chris hope you feel better soon. Try some liquid IV electrolytes or a similar substance. I think Rob is thinking Maseratis and Lamborghinis fit very well in his garage together. Thanks for holding the fort down Rob you are Legends.
It's a RUclips thing at the moment. They've all started saying American words recently. It's the latest craze. Some have been calling estates wagons instead of estates. Bless them
It’s almost criminal a car like that was deemed a write off. On the plus side there should be a tidy profit in it when done. Nice one lads. Great price 👍
Top buy/car!! Fellers, is it time to invest in a better scan tool that can deal with hybrids / Electric and dealer lvl service. i am not an expert, but, maybe you can reach out to a few big brands.. Even if it is a channel sponsor it would provide valuable education / Entertainment to us all. I Cannot wait for your first full electric.. wow.. beam me up scotty!!!!!
A mate of mine has a Levante, his has a factory immobiliser that needs a dongle to be placed in a specific place in the interior. Apparently each car has a different location for the immobiliser sensor.
Hmm I have just helped someone buy a Maserati, the GT trim is normally the base specification. This model has been superceded by the grecale and has been discontinued. The Levante is a lovely car. This car was developed with Ferrari help, the Grecale with the new buddy, Alfa Romeo
A big investment, but also hopefully a good profit margin if the parts aren't too expensive, luckily doesn't seem to need that many parts. Shame that the pyro fuses aren't standard so you could carry some in stock, though bridging the terminals does work, only problem would be if there was a direct short somewhere that could do a lot of damage. As you often and so rightly say not a Cat S, very lazy insurance assessors, which of course means higher insurance prices in the long term. Looking forward to the next one on this car as always. All the best to Chris for a speedy recovery. 👍👍👍
Hi Rob and Chris, this is a nice one guy's, glad to hear the parts are sourced to make a start, looking forward to watching this one. As you said Rob, how on earth can that be a cat S.. I wonder that any Hybrid is just classed regardless after any kind of damage..??? Alex.
Interesting video 📹 as usual fellas bar the parts bill you should get a nice drink 🍸 out of this one and it doesn't look like it' doesn't need a great deal of work to it take care fellas and stay lucky and healthy looking forward to Wednesday's video 📹 already 😊❤
I was bidding on this too. I was hoping to get it less than 20k and fix it for a new runaround but it went a little too high for me. Thought i recognised it in the 4 series vid! I knew this car wouldnt have chassis damage

So true
I don’t think it matters too much what they buy or don’t buy tbh. It’s a car they haven’t done before and it’s interesting to see the repair journey
We buy anything with a profit and will never become anything more than what we are no offence

@stephen579 exactly what everyone who is into cars says! Bloody awful, oversized, overweight, over complicated....... like a bloody feminist🤣

Get well soon Chris. Great video. Thank you.
That has to be worth having the car examined after repair and the structural damage marker removed.
Everyone having ago at the delivery driver in the other video for loading the cars wrong....🤣 Poor guy did nothing wrong

evs huge part of that and the waiting times on parts for this car might of been the reason this was written off.dash etc definitely resson why.
Hi rob and Chris, i thought you bought the car for 20000, hope Chris gets better soon, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Left hand rear wheellooks like it has been knocked out of line
That’s a nice car, don’t think you will find many used parts for it but it’s well worth repairing and you both have the skills to make it as good as new.
Rob, you should always connect the positive terminal first to prevent a voltage spike trashing the ecu's.

its great rob where you go over how the air bag fuse goes off and how to override it temporarily brilliant hope chris is better soon
Well done for exposing the car insurance corruption. Keep it up.

Loved this one, Rob. A brave move into the high end market but a great purchase rice compared to the retail price.

Fair play you guys are up for a challenge, seem to be picking up ones that parts are seemingly difficult to source.
