I love you 😂 she said struggle bus(and yes I'm already on it) 😂 I can watch you all day long!!! Your down to earth, you know what your talking about. Your so clear with instructions and direction!!! I love the fact you don't say "um"!! I'm more a cupcake lady. You've made me change my mind about stacking a cake. Thank you so much for your time and videos 😘😘
I’m 43 and never had much success cake decorating. I’m now going to buy some proper supplies and give this a go. Thank you for sharing this content with us
i’m never good at baking but very good at cooking anything but i’m so happy i came across this video i really didn’t know what to do . My son birthday is coming up and we in quarantine and i want to learn how to make it myself it always gave me so much ANXIETY the stuff i need to make the perfect cake but i’m so thankful this lady makes things easy and simple that’s what i been trying to find . definitely recommend watching her more
I absolutely love her. She takers her time to explain every steps. I cant believe I'm MAKING my First layered cake....excited. I have to hit repeat a thousand times..but I'm doing it!
My 7 y/o granddaughter wants to decorate cakes after she s made about 4 homemade pound cakes (supervision only ). I know nothing about cake decorating so we will both try this as our first layered cake. Made her Easter basket filled with beginner baking supply kit . Turntable , Leveler and all . In a bright pink . She will love it!!! Can’t wait to try this as our first cake . With strawberry purée too ) thanks so much for this video !!! We both will have a blast !
I used a plastic ruler for a bench scraper until I got one, and an old plastic lazy susan until I got a decent turntable for $21 on eBay. You can cut the corner out of a plastic bag to decorate. Cut vertical angles into the tip of a bag if you don't have a tip. Where there's a will, there's a way! Good luck.
I used a ruler.. was still a mess.. sooooo said.. I dont need smooth... ah haaa.... cut notches out of a piece of cardboard and used that.. I had rings on sides!
I started watching "The Sugar Geek" videos 2 weeks before making my little girls birthday cake. I learned SO MUCH... and how to be "extra". I trimmed each layer of my confetti cake, made marshmellow fondant., how important chilling before final buttercream...I am so excited to keep learning. The cake turned out beautifully and was delicious!!!
Your are a marvel Liz one thing i did learn from a pretty good baker. Was to flip your cake on to piece of parchment paper on a flat surface and by the time its fully cooled the top is flat with no markings. I love watching your videos. Love from Northern Ireland xx
Thank u, im 12 years old and i bake a cake or some treat every single week. My mom ordered a cake decorating set with everything u used today. I also want to try to make some macarons and i just cant wait to use all the supplies. I am a big fannnn of baking and want to be a full time baker when i grow up. Once again thank u for this video. Byeee
As a novice baker I had inconsistent results with scratch cakes, this cake came out perfect and was delicious. perfect cake to start with or regain confidence after cake fails. Followed directions exactly using weight.
Omg I’ve been looking at cake videos for days trying to figure out what I need and what I want to do with my daughters smash cake... so glad I found this video because it has EVERYTHING I need 🥰🥰
Thank you for this I make great cake but i cant decorate them well for so long its been all about the perfect texture and flavour of the cake for me but now im ready to learn how to make my cakes look pretty
You are aaabsolutely awwwesome!!! I've been watching a million videos but wasn't ready to get my hand on it yet, after watching yours, I'm all set to start. Thank you soooo much 😊
you are hilarious! Im a new subscriber and ive watched your new stuff first and Im just now seeing the older stuff. I just wanted to say....you were better than you thought. As someone new to baking this is honest, raw, straight up, ground breaking info to me!
@@SugarGeekShow I am going to make my first cake today-- I do not have a scale to weigh my ingredients and I am trying to convert the oz to cups. It is strange, when I google this and look at charts, I get various measurements, not all the same which I find strange. Do you have a conversion chart anywhere on your blog that is accurate? Appreciate your help!
I once heard that someone used the inside of their microwave ( ie glass plate and the wheel component). I found this idea out after I purchased 3 different turntables🤦♀️ Each one either didn’t turn smoothly ( actually all 3 don’t spin smooth) or were not stable. I should have just bought the Ateco cast iron bottom turntable I wanted in the first place. I don’t have a business yet, but I am on my way there! Sugar flowers are my favorite to make and arrange for my cakes
Definitely needed this video im thinking of making my sons 1st fancy cake for his bday instead of ordering one but I will definitely practice before hand this video was very informative
I absolutely love you videos and I just found you looking for candy apple. I have not seen like 10 videos I’m one hour. Thank you your explanation ways are amazing
I've been binge watching your videos and now I'm a subscriber. Yaaaaayyyy!!! All the tips and tricks I need all in one place. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Love from Jamaica
This was a great video. How much icing in all do you think was used to make this cake ? I can never seem to have enough to cover mines up . I’m just beginning and learning to bake . I lm confident that I am doing something wrong and want to correct it. I hope to be great as you though.
This video was so helpful! I’m a beginner in the baking field and this taught me alot🤩my mom bakes cakes sometimes and when I’m piping icing sometimes the piping tip explodes out! Do u have any tips for that not to happen🤣I’ve tried to not squeeze the bag as tight but I always end up doing it
Do you typically make a double batch of buttercream of just a single batch? Sometimes it seems like I have too much and sometimes too little frosting for my cakes. I'm a very newbie newbie to cake decorating. Love your suggestions! :)
Awesome!! Now I feel more confident to pull all the supplies needed out (AGAIN lol) And do this😳 thank you for sharing and walking us through! 🎂 NEW SUBBIE!!
Hey suger greek. I love your cake's. But i just want to make a simpel cake with no layers. Do you also have a movie for that how to make a simpel cake for 1 cake tin. Thank you
How long a head of time should I pull the cakes out of the freezer to decorate and then serve? My son has a birthday party Saturday and I was going to bake the cakes tomorrow which is Tuesday and then freeze them.

Do you HAVE to have a turn table? NO! But you don't HAVE to decorate cakes either!
Lol that was awesome!
😂😂😂😂
Mysti Dawn, I love the spelling of your name.

This video answered a lot of the questions I had after watching several other decorating videos. Thanks!!
Cake strips prevents those brown edges and you won’t waste cake.
Martha Amador true dear
Martha Amador I also learnt that from Mauryne's Cooking channel
You can also make your own with wet paper towels and foil. Saw it here on YT.
I used them but it didn't help with the edges browning, relatively flat top, yes, but took longer than usual to get the cakes baked 😕
@@yehaniwijekoon3212 what about baking on lower temp? you can ler those cakes cook lovely low and slow
I love your sense of humor
