Thanks for your honesty. Too many reviewers always say the printer in front of them is the best ever.

They now offer profiles for PETG, ABS and TPU. Thanks for the review. Ordered one and already have some mods planned to solve for most of the problems.

I might get one! I have a Robo r1 and it’s just a pain in the but and still can’t get any good prints! What mods were you going with by chance??

      @@user-nn2dq7of6m Hi,
A couple of ones from Printables to raise the top just a bit so the PTFE tube and toolhead cable doesn't rub too much although I think they already partly corrected this one, at least on mine. Also, I started with Printables but ended up designing my own spool holder, to ease the filament's path. And I also want to add a 24v led strip to light up the machine so I can see what I'm doing without opening the door.
I want to eventually get a bigger screen with a modern touchscreen functionality and mount it up higher. And lastly, since I live in Switzerland, I want to find a hotend replacement that I can easily buy here instead of paying 30€ of taxes plus the cost of the part when ordering from Kingroon or any other part from abroad.
Regarding Kingroon, I have had some contact with their support and contrary to others, I had no issue whatsoever with them. They are sending me a replacement hotend because of a mishap of nobody's fault and hopefully the webcam they forgot to ship with the machine.

Thank you for providing such an insightful and thorough review of the 3D printer! Your clear explanations helped me understand its capabilities and make an informed decision. I have kept an eye on Kingroon printer for a long time and I think it is time to order one now!

Great printer IF you bought it at discount, i got mine for $270 shipped, those issues could be mitigated for an advanced user so probably not recommending it for a new user.

Appreciate the honest review. It just doesn't make sense to pay $380 for this in 2024 with better options around that same price point.

What would you say would be a better option ?

Really good review JJ, I totally get what you want to say. One of my friends has this printer, to be honest, the machine is not bad and the printing is good. It would be just better if they lowered the price lol.

Another example of copy, paste, ship ASAP printer. We'll test it later 😜.
Instead of eMMC adapter they should just include a 5 ¼” floppy disk for firmware updates 😊
    Good review. Thank you!

for that kind of price and the amount of things that need to be fixed, i do wonder if you'll be better of just making a full from ground up coreXY machine? maybe smth like a rook or a printer of that kind

If the panels go onto the frames with weird uneven gaps I have to wonder about the overall quality of the printer. I use the Kingroon filament and was a bit excited when they were going to produce a printer as I thought cheap and good like their filament. Seems I was wrong. And when you came to updating it that was the final straw. I would have to give it 3/10. There are printers out there at this price with better stats like the Bambu A1, A1m or from other manufacturers like Creality or Elegoo.
Would have been nice to know the time of the benchy for a comparison. And even a little under-extrusion is not what I would want to see from today's printers.

Ive not used their klipper machines yet, but i have 2 second gen kp3s. Not a single factory part, short of motherboard (still modded to use uart on steppers)
They print great @ 150mm/s @ pretty high accel (varries from 1000mm/s³ to 8000 on travels). Took a lot to get there. Now i can just buy an a1 for less than i have into it. 6 months ago, kingroon made sense. Not so much now. Good filaments though!

seems like the really just wanted to cram things in but didn't think about convenience of use

  • @mrfoameruk

So for $20 more you can get the Bambu A1 with a better experience, upgradable to colour printing, fast quality printing, bigger build size, frequently updated firmware/software to make them even better, better levelling and calibration......What were Kingroon thinking? I get the feeling people don't want this tinkering anymore they want a printer that just works out of the box with a good experience.

So in cad it's only like 100$ less then the K1. So I don't see the point

The new Creality printers are really easy to use the Ender 3 V3 SE, Ender 3 V3 KE, or the Bambu A1 mini is also really easy to use.

Honestly just buy an X-smart for significantly less and get a far better machine. Or go a step up and get a Q1 Pro for slightly more

If Klipper, Mainsail, Fluidd, Moonraker, etc break the printer when updated without updating to a custom-made version of those software from the manufacturer, the manufacturer has modified that software. Those software are provided under a license called the GPL, which requires that licensees make the source code to the software available when releasing the compiled software. For each piece of GPL-licensed software Kingroon is using a modified version of, they are contractually obligated to release the source code of that modified version, and that licensed version must come with a license compatible with the GPL.
Companies that do this are unfairly exploiting the free work provided by contributors under the belief that improvements made to the software are forever kept available to the community. Do not support companies that flagrantly violate the GPL or any other software license. For free and open-source software projects with no financial backing, it is up to customers to put pressure on these companies to honor the license of the software they use in their products.

Joining the fb group makes you know that it's not anywhere close good for its price. From firmware to mechanical issues people had problems. From my experience alone with kingroon and their klipper machines makes it that I can never recommend them.
