A question Allen. I have a 55” Philips Ambilight. Bought from your, and my, favourite electronics store. 6 year guarantee. After 5 years a line appeared top to bottom, around 100mm in from the right. After a couple of months the line has gone. How? As for the claim on the guarantee, that was a saga.
If it has a UMC label on it (as this does) then it's rather more than a couple of years old. I don't think I've seen a Blaupunkt set on sale since before 2020 to be honest. Generally speaking if it's a Chinese-derived set and it doesn't just have the back of the metal LCD panel chassis sprayed, rather than enclosed in a proper plastic enclosure then it's pretty old. I dislike this newer build method, it's a sure sign of penny pinching.
My first tv was a Philip's KL9 CTR.No fimware to worry about back in those days.
What was the last CRT TV Made sold in the UK.
