Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination is one of the opportunities for engineering students. There are high paying PSU jobs and PG / Phd admissions with stipend.
GATE is especially a boon for students from Tier 2 and 3 engineering students who won't be having good placement opportunities in their college.
In this video, I give detailed roadmap for preparing for GATE exam in a systematic manner from first year onwards.

Sir I was completed in this year EEE.In third year was i written gate exam and i scored 53. ( I decided two ways to do PG.) One was studying in India or Other was abord countries like (Japan or Singapore).

First of all congratulations! Very few achieve this feet.
You may get a seat in some IIT itself. Or for sure in NIT Trichy. IIT Madras for example give core placements at around Rs.13 lakh per annum, NIT Trichy around 9 lakh (median placements)
Studying in Japan or Singapore will be costly. If you have that kind of financial background, then good.
With loan, it can affect your future decisions also as you will be stuck to pay the loan back for many years.
With a good company placement from IIT, you may be able to go abroad as well.

By the way i am good at logical reasoning and mathematics skill and good at english vocabulary also.in first year i will start my gate preparation and i did not start early for jee preparation .

Yes. Balancing is key. All of them are required for a successful career. You can't get ready for placement, interview, internship anywhere else other than college time. Early planning and doing them is required. Lot of students ask this doubt, will make a video on this.

Will surely try. It's a new paper since last year in GATE. So available PYQ analysis is less. However, give focus to the syllabus. Also, use PYQs from CS paper in relevant areas. All the very best.

Your cgpa in BE/BTech doesn't matter. If you qualify GATE and have cleared all your arrears (if you have), you will get a seat in NITs / IITs for MTech.

Why not? You can choose mechanical engineering and shine well if you are interested in it. It's only a stereotype that girls can't do mechanical.
There will be less girl students in classes (sometimes you may be the only one female in class). But let it not deter you from selecting it, if you are interested. You can very well succeed!

Just above cut off is sufficient for most of the branches generally. Anyways aim high and prepare well. With little hardwork you can get into NIT Trichy.

You can apply for any branch actually and clear GATE also. However, there are some limitations when it comes to PSUs. They will have eligibility criteria as BE in ECE with GATE paper in ECE for certain branches.
Doing CSE paper after ECE, you will be allowed to do MTech in few branches of CSE but may not to all (depends on IITs).
So even if you take another paper, better to always write your core and then another relevant paper ss second one.

Super. Ithula Manufacturing is very high yield subject for mech paper and even for production engineering paper it helps. You can start with PYQ papers of these subjects. If possible get solved PYQ book and start practicing along with semester. Glad that you did this work, all the best..

Better write GATE EE and you cam select a combination paper.

Aama. GATE exam is like an entrance exam. Based on that score you need to apply for MTech, PhD or for job with various colleges or PSUs.

No need to join academy in first year. First year just start with PYQs of General Aptitude (you can self prepare now itself) and get a PYQ Maths book (to prepare along with your college when maths is taken). I have given some book recommendations in this video description. You can check.
Only in second year, core subjects will be covered, hence prepare in parallel till 2nd year end. and then look for coaching if you want.
sir is it possible to learn two papers DA and Cs in 6 months from now ,I keep DA as main ,but by doing this will I score low in both ??,I know around 60% of Da syllabus theoretically as it covered in my btech but need to learn again ,and around 30 to 40 % in Cs ,but I need to learn both , will I able to or concentrating in 1 sub is better, and also will I able get seat in any of iits, nits ,iiits with 50-60 marks in DA , please help me sir....
Sure. Your approach of keeping DA as main is completely fine, as you already know 60% in it. Go ahead and give your full effort. Try to complete 90% of syllabus by October end.
Just give November (5days a week) for CS, try to pick two or more subjects which is of ease to you and are high scoring. Don't worry about marks in that. However keep revising, DA in the rest two days.
December on get back to DA again in full swing. Don't worry about the seats, you will surely get. All the very best.

Its better to select the course you like the most and where you will be able to function your best regardless of external conditions. Thats important.
GATE comes only next, so don't get confused on decision based on GATE.

For any PSU, it's safe to aim 70+. Yes. You can prepare while doing job. And of you have more than 4 years experience, PSUs call for experienced candidates without GATE through their entrance exams.

IT gives you opportunity for PG in IITs or NITs.
You get opportunities in PSUs as well (however vacancies are less for IT when compared to other core engineering streams).

Don't worry about the interview process. If you clear GATE, you will be confident enough to attend interview as well. Also go through college placement training to be confident, it will help through life.

For GATE preparation it doesn't matter. From any college you can achieve. But overall if you are asking for admissions, it's better to select a good college for your marks, it will lead to good infra, good faculties, good placements and good network of friends who will help you through out career.

Yes, you can get into Anna University campus through GATE score. You will get stipend of Rs.12400 per month if you take seat through GATE.
What about students pursuing mechatronics engineering,sir?
You can write either mechanical or electronics paper, whichever you find comfortable.
In PG you will have wider options to choose from.

You can purchase a GATE PYQ which explains theory side by side. You can check such books for ECE in amazon. It will help you to learn basic concepts in a simple manner. In college you will understand better

Its better to write GATE after completing your MSc. That will help you to get MTech in IITs. You can write NIMCET to get into MCA in NITs now.

Yes, MTech has high value. You can get placements upwards of 13 lakh in IITs.

How can I prepare for general aptitude sir?.. Now only I'm finished 12th
General aptitude can be prepared by school level knowledge itself. 10th std knowledge will be enough but you need to learn the tricks to solve problems.
You can get a PYQs solved book and start. Also, RS Agarwal quantitative aptitude book is good. It will be useful for placements also.

That's very nice that you have started preparation already.
For GATE, it's always recommended to take your own core paper first because PSUs will ask for BE Mech or related branches and Mech GATE paper. Or BE CSE related papers and CS GATE.
Don't get confused on your college and stream selection based on GATE. It's preferable to take the branch according to your heart and shine in it. If you are taking Mech in Tier 1, side by side get coding, AIDS skills through courses and get equipped as well.

You can start with General aptitude and Maths in first year. By second year, you will be able to decide on the side where your interest lies most. Then decide on whether to go with Mechanical paper or electronics paper.
Also, you can try PI or XE paper.
Pls note, for you, PSU jobs will be limited. But don't worry about it, mechatronics is a growing field and you will succeed with good preparation. GATE will be useful for PG.

hi sir give information related to biomedical gate exam and job related to biomedical field in public sector and also PG in biomedical which central university offering that courses
Biomedical has wonderful opportunities because if you see last year 2024, first rank mark itself was 54/100.
With GATE prep, you can also try GAT-B exam.
IIT Madras and many other IITs have this course. You will get opportunities to get into high end medical devices companies or deep research in your field. All the very best for a successful career

You can for sure. There are PSU jobs in Petroleum companies like ONGC, IOC etc. You can also get into IIT MTechs for good placements.

There is a paper called PE for Petroleum Engineering. However, most of oil majors like IOCL, HPCL etc wants GATE paper CH (Chemical Engineering) for even Petroleum students. Hence, of your aim is PSUs, it's better to write Chemical engineering paper.

Yes, you can do PG in IITs / NITs. There are also some government companies which take Biotech graduates based on GATE. I am making a comprehensive video on PSUs, will add in that.

Sir is gate preparation is useful for the one who is aiming for a job in abroad
GATE will surely help you with subject clarity and technical problem solving, that will be helpful to get opportunities abroad. Also, there are few abroad universities giving MTech based on GATE score in Singapore and Germany. However, much details about them are not available.
If you are planning to work abroad, following are the options:
1. Get job in an MNC and move through it
2. Some regions like Middle East you can directly apply.

Glad that you are thinking about GATE now itself. You can download the syllabus and start preparing with PYQs in parallel with college syllabus. Do prepare for CSIR NET and UPSC Combined Geo Scientist Exam.
Its better to write GATE after you complete your MSc. That will help you to get PSU jobs and IIT Mtech. All the very best.

Hi Aananth, very glad that you are focusing to prepare for GATE.
You need to focus on GATE syllabus and within that high mark yielding areas first.
It's better to get solved Previous year question books for aptitude, maths and your engineering stream so that you can practice along. Pls watch last six months roadmap video for better clarity.
Regarding placements, it's better to attend the placement training given in your college and even sit for placements. That experience will give you more confidence and help you in cracking PSU interviews also. So, don't miss that as college is the best place to get trained for placements.

Vani institute (I prepared here long back, don't know if they are conducting now)
Pls do search for yourself in Chennai, enquire with them, take demo classes and decide.
Is industrial engineering is good at NIT Calicut in placement perceptive
NIT Calicut in 2011 had mostly IT companies in campus placement and very few core. I got placed off-campus.
Later years, I heard many core companies are also coming. NiTC tag will help you get project in good companies, you can get into Operations research or supply chain jobs through them in companies you aim for.
As a branch it's good. It has very good faculties and lively learning opportunities.

Yes. You can.
However, you need to select mechanical or electronics or any other paper you are comfortable with.
Options in PSUs will be limited, as most of them will ask for core branches like mechanical. You will get PG options in IITs.
Also, use placement opportunities in college and develop skills for private jobs also. You have lot of opportunities there. All the very best.

You will get benefit only if you complete your MCA. Now also you can appear, but it won't be of much use.
The better test for you to target now will be NIMCET to get admission in NITs including Trichy. There will be very good placement opportunity after that.

First year just start with PYQs of General Aptitude (you can self prepare now itself) and get a PYQ Maths book (to prepare along with your college when maths is taken). I have given some book recommendations in this video description. You can check.
Only in second year, core subjects will be covered, hence prepare in parallel till 2nd year end. and then look for coaching if you want.

There are 30 papers in GATE, covering almost all specialized subjects also. Pls check in gate2025.iitr.ac.in website for papers and their syllabus. What specialization is yours?

Second paper you can choose from the combinations provided. You can select something where subjects match and your interest lies.
