Thank you so much for watching! If anything this video will prove that not every product works well for every hair type! What is your fave Shea Moisture styler?
I too tried their curl line. Just as you described it, it feels kinda gummy and icky. Too heavy for my fine-ish 2a-3a hairs! I do, however, really love their Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque (which also has protein!), and their Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque (for moisture). I use my Hot Head for 20-30 mins and switch up as needed. Thank you for all of your videos- you've taught me more than I ever could've imagined, all in one place! 😁
My hair loves this line ... EXCEPT that crazy nasty gel custard stuff 🙈😂😂 its soooooooooo bad for my fine lowpo hairs omg and after a few hours it gets even worse
I also like to take the thick cream products (either the smoothie or curl milk) and mix it with hot water in a spray bottle and spray it into my fine hairs instead.
curl enhancing smoothie)))) creams (for my 2b-3a they are working wonders) and I have their primer, wich has protein and it works too) I love their leave-ins...they are light if you not using too much)) I tryed only one gel and I just can`t make it work now the way it did a year ago, when I first started cgm(( I love their conditioners, deep conditioners (not every, but most) and shampoos)) so as you can see, I try so much of that brand...and I have more in my closet...xD
I also recently tried the SM raw shea butter restorative conditioner with sea kelp & argan oil with the coconut & hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie with silk protein and neem oil and was surprised that it felt drying but the latter did give my hair some shine but overall it felt dry and stiff. I like the thick coconut oil rehydration treatment mask as a pre wash and mixed with another conditioner on the lower portion of my coarse thick hair. I am still experimenting to find what works best for my wavy hair that holds a curl really well.
I had an issue with a leave-in of theirs so I emailed and asked for recommendations. Not only did they take the time to give me product recommendations for my hair type but they sent me a refund check for the one that wasn't working for me.
There are other lines geared toward wavy/fine hair-such as the manuka honey & yoghurt line. It includes a power protein treatment, which your hair might really like.
She's actually used that protein treatment! Check out the video where she makes the gelatin mask. She actually mixes that mask in because the mask alone wasn't enough protein for her. I have the same problem with that mask sometimes , but I still really liked it
I have wavy and quite amount of hair and my hair LOVES the manuka honey & yogurt shampoo and conditioner! So nourishing! But I’ve never tried Shea Moisture stylers...I was really excited about the video and it didn’t turn out good 😔
The line that you’re using is for type three and four hair. The reason why it isn’t working on your hair is because the product is not made to work on your texture. Some lines like the Manuka honey and yoghurt line are for your hair. Try those next time and you’ll see better results. Love your videos!
I know this is old but if something is made specifically for type 3 and 4 hair doesn’t mean it won’t work on type 2 since hair texture and porosity matter more than curl type
I have wavy hair and the manuka honey and yogurt does not work for me well at all - super drying for me. I agree with the person who stated porosity matters more
I'd recommend the Curl Milk from the same line--it's a bit lighter than the smoothie, and it makes my hair SO soft without feeling heavy. Also, I know you like leave ins :)
hi there! i'm actually contemplating about getting either the smoothie or the milk for my fine, wavy, low-po and low-density hair. does the milk help in enhancing your curls? thanks in advance x
Apparently they changed the formula for the gel. I bought it recently because of rave reviews and it was exactly the same as in the video. I looked into it and according to a lot of past reviews, people have commented about the odd texture and others who have used it in the past are adamant that the formula has changed.
Shea moisture is way too heavy for my wavy hair. I agree that it looks really nice and shiny but it just feels gross in my hair 😢 not for us wavy gals I don't think!
This particular line isn't designed for fine hair. We have the same curl pattern, but my hair is low porosity and super thick, so I need thicker products like this to properly hydrate and hold my hair. It doesn't feel goopy or gross in my hair, but again, it's a difference in hair type.
Even with the wrong product your hair looks healthy and shiny but how it feels is soooo important. Mine is thick and coarse and if a product is drying I add oil but I look forward to the next washday!!! Thanks for your videos. Love them and happy hunkering down!!
I am a low porosity 3A with some 3B and 3C. I love the curl enhancing smoothie, but seriously less is more with this. Personally, I tried the shampoo and conditioner and experienced moisture overload. The residue just sat on top of my hair from the shampoo and conditioner alone. Since I heard most people didn’t like the soufflé, I never tried it. The curl enhancing smoothie is a 1 and done styler. Try using a dime of it to a nickel size for your entire head, by itself; it does pair well with the bounce curl light moisture clarifying shampoo and conditioner.
That souffle was the issue. You need to mix it back. The natural products in it causes it to separate like that. It also may be too heavy for the wavey waves. Love your channel...stay safe!
I purchase the gel souffle on a whim. It is trial and error, best results I've had with the gel souffle is to use a small amount, I usually dip my finger (possibly 2 fingers at most) and apply to soaking wet hair and diffuse on cool. It took a while to get it right
Oh my GOSH! Soooo helpful! I have been doing the CGM for about 2 years now, and I thought I was in the transition phase for the first year and a half because my hair felt like this all the time. I was using Shea Moisture exclusively, and once I started watching your videos and switched my products, my hair changed drastically. You're invaluable!
I have probably the same amount of wave/curl in my hair, and I actually really like the curl enhancing smoothie. The gel stuff makes my hair kind of sticky, but I've had success using just a LITTLE bit of it
I use the shampoo, conditioner, and curl enhancing smoothie. those products work great on my hair. i started using them like two months ago and my hair went from frizzy to really nice waves. (i have really thick 2a/2b hair) I've heard the gel is way too heavy, even if you use a small amount. I use a different gel brand (garnier fructis pure clean styling gel) and it makes my waves really nice :)
It’s the smoothie! I’ve tried it on my hair multiple times and different amounts. No matter how much I use it always leaves a weird residue but my hair looks good. Also little to no hold and doesn’t last at all. I have high to medium porosity course strains with high to medium density.
The gel is not normally that texture, it’s usually sort of gelatinous, but not formed, if that makes sense. I think it may have been drying out and maybe old product. That said the only thing I like in the hibiscus line is the Smoothie. I love it in the dry NM winter for added moisture at that time.
I have 2b-3a fine, dry hair and I actually love this line! I've never tried the gel, but I love the curl enhancing smoothie, as well as the shampoo and conditioner.
That has happened to me as well. But try to mix the gel with a spoon in the jar before you use it again and don’t use too much. This gel isn’t meant for fine hair but it’s for thick hair maybe you can gift it to your sister.
This gel was my holy grail last year but they changed the recipe. If you microwave it with water it works better . . . but its not what it used to be. And yes, for whatever reason, I kinda like that producty feel lol! i also love the way this refreshes
I have more wavy than curly hair, pretty similar to yours actually. I just started using the Manuka Honey and Yogurt line from Shea Moisture. I LOVE it. The balance of protein and moisturizing ingredients is really great for my hair type. I still love using the Coconut Hibiscus Curl Smoothie as a styling cream after washing my hair though. It was actually the first Shea Moister product I ever bought and made me fall in love with them.
Shea Moisture was acquired by Unilever in 2018. They also make Dove, Suave, Tresseme, Axe and Love, Beauty, Planet. Idk why it's important, but I just know that because I worked there. I think they wanted to reach different demographics.
I really love your videos💕 but girl... this line is for THICK curly hair, for sure not for fine and wavy hair! Try their other lines, because actually this brand is just amazing 💖
but courtney has finer hair and this line is for thicker curls, maybe you should try their weightless fruit fusion shampoo and conditioner, Courtney! BTW your hair is sooooo much like my goals, oh wait! it is. it's sooooo shiny Ibet i I saw u in real life i could see my reflection
Please experiment with other SM products that are formulated for thinner hair. Also, would love to see a one brand tutorial on Maui moisture and dippity do curls line 😊
but was there really a problem with the shampoo and conditioner or just the styling products? I've been wondering if I would but the shampoo from this line but should I go with some of the other line from shea moisture with fine, hipo 2b-c (sometimes even 3a though) hair?
@@sammalneito I have low porosity 2c hair. I like the Shea moisture curl and shine shampoo and the Shea moisture leave in. I haven't tried the conditioner or gel yet. ☺👍
I haven’t tried most of the Shea moisture products because I am broke and need to use up the products I already have before trying others but I love their Jamaican black castor oil hair mask and and their raw Shea butter hair mask. The first is more protein heavy and the other is more moisture heavy ingredient wise. The Jamaican black castor oil helped repair over a year of dyeing my hair with box hair dye and that was only using it once a week for about two months, now I need to be careful because the last time I used it I experienced protein overload for the first time. But it works. I might eventually try some of Shea moistures other products but I really need to use the hair products that I already have before hand. I’ve been looking forward to this video for a while every since I started paying attention to brands and I am glad that you got to it. Thanks for your honest review on all of your one brand wash days.
Way less custard is better. I only use my fingertips covered. It also helps to stir it up also to make it liquidity. & use a leave in before hand it helps the cast break up better. & there is a foam in that line also that is uh-may-zing!
when you applied the gel and noticed busted curl clumps along with some decent clumps and some friz, i was like “this is what my hair looks like every time i style!!!” (except i get a LOT of wet friz that i smooth down with a brush while conditioner is in my hair, but it all comes back when i scrunch for curl definition). i also notice that my hair loses more water than i think is normal as soon as i put ANY stylers in. by this i mean that i begin my styler application process with soaking wet hair, and after just one good glaze/rope/scrunch, my hair needs more water in it before the next product. very confused by that. any tips/thoughts? i’ve been doing the cgm for about 7 months
Its the souffle that gave you problems. I myself have used just about all the products you bought for Coconut and Hibiscus line I did not use the gel because I had seen other with wavier hair types like Curlysusie and she said that product made her hair feel oily.
I have been using the Shea Moisture Coconut/JBCO line for several months with my high porosity, fine, 3b/3c hair and have found that you have to experiment with the amount you use. However much you use with other products, use less with SM. It is highly moisturizing and can have good hold and definition, but can also be heavy and gritty--so I know what you mean when you say "see the feeling!" Also, the gel is infamous for its chunkiness. I've heard some people say its normal, and some people say its not. Mine has always been chunky, and while I like the results I get from it, I have pretty much stopped using it because no matter how much I rub it between my hands I always end up with clumps/chunks.
I have been so mesmerized since finding your channel a few days ago--we have the same hair!--and I've lost count how many of your videos I have watched in trying to educate and inspire myself to finally treat my hair with the maintenance curly hair deserves. I have unfortunately been using Shea Moisture for over a year and I honestly thought my actual hair was simply changing and losing the curls it used to display. It wasn't until yesterday that I started exploring Curly Girl Facebook groups and they all said the same as you have in this video! Now having this review of yours, I am floored in being so convinced perhaps it wasn't me, it's the product! I'm actually excited now. I just ordered JessiCurl for the first time and hope to restore the curly waves I used to be so proud of. Thank you for your continued honesty and informative, educational tutorials--not to mention entertaining. You're simply wonderful and adorable. Thank you, thank you!
I like the shampoo, conditioner, and sometimes I like the smoothie out of this line, but I've noticed that I can't use them all at the same time. I'm using the mask and color shampoo from their purple line, and the manuka honey mask, and I like those three products way more. I hate to be that person, but try the manuka line please! Also during this mandatory time at home, I've been trying out different application methods instead of products. I'm just curious- have you tried going through all the "techniques" without all the products once you've washed? What do your curls look like without products?
I have 2B/C hair, and those products aren't made for our hair type. SM did have a really nice shampoo, from their discontinued low porosity line, that worked well on wavy hair.
This is my favourite Sheamoisture line. I have 3b curls. I'm not a fan of the smoothie but the anti-frizz gel in the line makes my curls so springy and defined plus the protein in the products ensures my hair stays balanced.
The only product I have of this line is the Smoothie and I couldn't use it either because it weighed down my hair so much. Since then I've been using it as a mirror stand for when I put on my makeup, (mine came in a tub). But just recently my hair was feeling a little too fluffy so I decided to give it another try. I took a teeny tiny bit, probably a sixteenth of a teaspoon (I measured) and emulsified it with some water in my hands and smoothed it over my dry hair and it helped get it under control. At this rate it will take me 45 years to use up, but in the meantime it makes a good mirror stand. FYI, I have coarse 2A low porosity hair.
3a curly hair here, i noticed with the gel shuffle that it gets better on the 2nd -3rd day hair but only if you scrunch often throughout the day. But i have better results when i apply it on wet hair and scrunch only , not rake it.
I love that you're doing more reviews on accessible products!! I bought the same line of Cantu that you reviewed, and I just noticed we were using 2 curl activators and no gel. Lol
I love shea-moisture. But honey, you used a line meant for 3acb and 4abc hair. You can check on the website of Shea Moisture what line is good for what type of curl. I have the same waves as you, 2abc, and I love the superfruit line. But it doesn't have mutch proteïne. I would love to see you use Shea Moisture with products that are meant for you. You'll love it 😍
The Curl Enhancing Smoothie is one of my Holy Grail products but my hair is low porosity and course. I wasn’t in love with the gel when I tried it but I did finish up the tub.
Well I’m glad I’m not the only one! I have 3a/3b curls and I’ve tried those lines, along with the black castor line and none of it worked for me, it was all ‘heavy’ in my hair and the hibiscus gel was the same runny but solid and lumpy bits, it does say in the instructions a little goes a long away but it didn’t give me hold just a slimy sticky feeling and by the end of the day my was flat, greasy and stringy looking - unfortunately it all went in the bin. I’m in the uk and this was a while ago so I don’t necessarily think you had a bad batch, I think it’s just the product. It was a shame as I sooo wanted to love it, I’ve heard so many rave reviews ☹️☹️ x
I can’t use the Curl Enhancing Smoothie..if I do, as soon as I add my gel (Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee), I get flash drying. I have hair similar to yours, but surprisingly, I get better results with the Raw Shea Butter line than with the Coconut & Hibiscus line. FWIW, your hair looks curlier and really amazing! I know you didn’t like it, but, it really does look great!
I'm curious but I assume it won't work...Honestly I wanted to like Shea moisture, but the two styling products I have don't even work on my coarse 3a! Meanwhile, I needed a protein and glycerin free gel and thanks to your enthusiastic reviews, I bought the Giovanni LA hold, can't wait to try it!
I’ve tried the curl enhancing smoothie and it’s an incredible product for some curlies but it was wayyy too heavy for my 2A-2C waves. It weighed them down so much the waves fell out and it felt like there was a waxy film over my hair. I can usually go a week without washing but had to wash my hair the next day. Love Shea moisture though! That was my bad for getting a product more targeted toward coilier curls.
I have really dry thin brittle damaged hair and this brand is heavy on my hair but the treatment is fantastic for me. As I bought the products I still use the other ones but very small amounts.
When I went to Sally's a few months ago the girl that I regularly see there and get help from told me to Never get that soufflé and that it's terrible for everyone, and she has type 4 hair. And honestly, for my fine hair, most of the shea moisture stuff is too heavy. Way too much shea butter and it just weighs my hair down and builds up very quickly.
I have type 2B to 3B and they told me the same thing at Sally's to stay away from the souffle. But even just the shampoo and conditioner was way too heavy for my hair
im starting out on my curly/wavy hair treatment. i want to get my wavy hair back from not treating it properly as i never knew i had. i have no idea where to start or what products to use to help - any advice for type 2b/2c hair? i appreciate any recommendations for products to use and how to do my hair
It can be overwhelming to start! So much information. I have a bunch of video's but these two will be great to start with! Wavy/Curly Hair Journey: Where to Start ruclips.net/video/VamIv6qKiT4/видео.html Surviving Transition during the Wavy Curly Hair Journey ruclips.net/video/B4JsPTENwj0/видео.html
I found that using just the shampoo and leave in conditioner (which I didn't put on my roots) made my hair super greasy after just one day. I'm not a fan, but that being said, I do have wavy hair, and I've seen some of the comments saying Shea Moisture is for very curly hair, so that's likely the reason it isn't working for me!
I am just starting my curly hair journey and I bought shea moisture gel which is my first gel and it made my hair quite sticky the first time and I couldn’t break the cast but I also figured that I put a little too much. The next time I put a lot less and it looked nice and soft as I managed to break the cast. I have medium thickness hair( or rather loads of it) and it’s wavy/curly. I’d say it’s all about the amount and the hair thickness as my hair is not fine at all.
I had the same experience with the gel .... I adore the curling smoothie and have been using it for years on my fine curly hair. I use the curling smoothie with Eco Gel and it works fabulously.
Your hair ended up looking AMAZING!! I have no idea why RUclips suggested your video, bc I totally have 3c/4a hair... BUUUUT I loved this video & I'm now off to watch more!! 💕
I can't use very many Shea Moisture products on my 2B/2C waves/curls because of all the coconut. They make a fantastic low-po conditioner that I love though! But that's it.
You mentioned watery liquid in the last product .. did it possibly separate? Did it need to be "whipped" again? Just a thought. Sure looks nice though!
Hi Courtney, Thanks for reviewing this brand. It was my first brand when I transitioned to CGM and I'm relieved to hear your experience because it was mine too...although I had no other CGM washdays to compare it to. So I kept using these products without knowing anything about STC, wet styling (rather than damp), or flash drying (which I learnt mostly from you!). I also still find the smoothie is heavy even with better technique. I didnt find the Styling Milk any better. I also found the gel clumpy, even gritty and also caused flash drying (although I didn't know that and thought it was my hair "transitioning"). Maybe mine was a bad batch too, I DID buy it from Walmart. I think that's always a risk when you buy products from non-hair care places. Anyhoo, I also wanted to connect this comment with your previous video about MyManeBio. After your review of MyManeBio, I went straight to their website because I decided the ~$90 was worth it to not have to guess-n-test with multiple bad products ever again. Thanks for sharing all your know-how!
P.S. My hair is also fine, medium density, and low porosity, so could also explain our common experiences with this brand. I think the coconut hibiscus is geared towards coarse and thick hair.
I’ve used the curly smoothie along with the other gel in a similar color container and let me tell you I got the most stringy, greasy, weighed down almost straight waves that just refused to dry for hours. Not a good wavy combo for me either
can you do a full video using the "curls" products? the brand that makes that protein leave-in conditioner with blueberry extract? I'm curious what you think about it as a whole. I'm also curious what you think about their restorative mask. It seems like a stronger version of the leave-in maybe? since your hair loves the leave-in I'm curious if it will love the mask as well. btw I really like you ALWAYS show your application. it's usually the same, so it isn't new information, but the repetitiveness helps me remember it.
I have similar hair to yours and I really enjoy the smoothie but I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews about the soufflé-folks saying they’ve reformulated it in the last year or so and it’s all hard and chunky now instead of the custardy type texture of other products.
This line is not meant for wavy hair it's too heavy. It's more for 3 types of hair. If you go to the Shea moisture website it goes over what works for wavy hair best.
They have a chart on their website to match hair type with products. This line isn't recommended for us wavies. Also I never use that much conditioner with SM products. Their products are concentrated
I had the same problem with the gel. I have found that this brand of conditioner and gel really weigh down my hair after multiple uses and sometimes after just 1. I do really like the shea moisture yukka & plantain anti-breakage strengthening shampoo (although I can't find it in walmart anymore) and I use the maui moisture shea butter conditioner.
The custard can do wonders to wavy hair...but!!! You have to use a lot lot lot less amount of product... Like probably a third of what you used for you whole hair, and emulsify it very well on you hands with water before applying. Just give it another try :) I love it, but it took time to learn how to make it worth for my hair.
These were the first products I bought to try out CGM (minus the gel! I bought the mousse in the same line). It was ok, enough to get me excited about my curls, but I just felt that gummy feeling you were talking about. I still use the mousse for now as a finisher before I diffuse, but i ended up throwing away the curl smoothie, shaving my legs with the conditioner, and am still using the last of the shampoo for my boys lol. I really liked the Shea Moisture manuka honey and mafura oil intense hydration masque but only as a regular conditioner - if i leave it too long it feels heavy again. i do use the manuka honey and yogurt protein treatment if my hair gets too over hydrated briefly (3 min or so) after shampooing. But I started using Jessicurl and had MUCH better results, hold, curl definition, and all the things. But now it is becoming very hydrating, so now I’m trying to find that moisture/protein balance :/ But probably not going back to the Shea Moisture shampoo. I do like their marshmallow root leave in :)
It’s the sugar in the gel; they use sugar for the hold and it makes your hair feel ‘gunky and producty’. The new formula is even worse because they use corn syrup as the primary hold instead of mostly agave nectar. I had a hard time scrunching out the crunch with this product and it made me feel kind of greasy and weighed down. I have medium to coarse wavy hair for reference.
I actually threw away a full tub of that curling gel soufflé thinking I got an old one because of the gritty lumpy gummy texture. I like their Daily Hydration Styling Gel much better and I use the spray in coconut oil detangler leave in before putting the gel in. The cast breaks much easier and doesn’t feel greasy after.
This is the exact same effect those products had on my hair. I too thought maybe I used too much but I’ve tried so many times to make them work but no luck so I just gave up.
I agree I have swavy medium thin and shea felt so heavy on my hair. And I felt the oils travel down my face lol. But I decided to keep it and use it only when my hair feels extra dry. But I feel that it will def work with someone with thicker hair.
I have similar hair to yours and I totally understand what you’re feeling! You should use a lot less product on both styling product, especially the gel, you need the tiniest amount! Now that I’ve learnt how to use it it’s one of my personal favorites. I just use 1/4 tea spoon MAX Sending you love❤️❤️❤️
I think I am doing it wrong I have wavy hair and some curls but we have similar texture.. I keep getting frizz using the shea moisture curl enchanting smoothie pls help
Exactly it Looks so great!. However your hair didnt need all that moisture. I love shea moisture soooo much. My hair runs on the dry and fine side, but it does work so well with these in mind and on my tighter curl pattern.
I’m not sure if the whole line is CGM approved, but can you try Garnier’s curly line? I just picked up the Garnier Curl nourish shampoo and am excited to try it.
I also like to take the thick cream products (either the smoothie or curl milk) and mix it with hot water in a spray bottle and spray it into my fine hairs instead.
curl enhancing smoothie)))) creams (for my 2b-3a they are working wonders) and I have their primer, wich has protein and it works too)
I love their leave-ins...they are light if you not using too much))
I tryed only one gel and I just can`t make it work now the way it did a year ago, when I first started cgm((
I love their conditioners, deep conditioners (not every, but most) and shampoos))
so as you can see, I try so much of that brand...and I have more in my closet...xD
Good to know😊
There are other lines geared toward wavy/fine hair-such as the manuka honey & yoghurt line. It includes a power protein treatment, which your hair might really like.
lexiebuns yes! I’ve been using the MH & Y line and my crazy hair (weird combination of textures) and it likes this line.
She's actually used that protein treatment! Check out the video where she makes the gelatin mask. She actually mixes that mask in because the mask alone wasn't enough protein for her. I have the same problem with that mask sometimes , but I still really liked it
BeautyWearsBoots I just use it as my weekly hair masque, not as a protein treatment. I’ve done her gelatine treatment though and my hair LOVES it :)
I have wavy and quite amount of hair and my hair LOVES the manuka honey & yogurt shampoo and conditioner! So nourishing! But I’ve never tried Shea Moisture stylers...I was really excited about the video and it didn’t turn out good 😔
what’s the best shea moisture line for 2a/2b/3a hair?
I feel like the gel was the problem. I really like the curl enhancing smoothie!
Same I love the smoothie
I have a hard time with it. I really want to like it but it never really does much for me and/or its too heavy?
The line that you’re using is for type three and four hair. The reason why it isn’t working on your hair is because the product is not made to work on your texture. Some lines like the Manuka honey and yoghurt line are for your hair. Try those next time and you’ll see better results. Love your videos!
Sunny Beach 3456 Wouldn’t the Manuka honey be incredibly heavy on her 2a/b/c hair? The Manuka honey works best for type 4 hair
@@morganmcclain4624 You mean the Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil line? That's different from the Manuka Honey and Yogurt line
I know this is old but if something is made specifically for type 3 and 4 hair doesn’t mean it won’t work on type 2 since hair texture and porosity matter more than curl type
I have wavy hair and the manuka honey and yogurt does not work for me well at all - super drying for me. I agree with the person who stated porosity matters more
Thanks so much !! i have type 3 hair and I’m gonna try this !!
I'd recommend the Curl Milk from the same line--it's a bit lighter than the smoothie, and it makes my hair SO soft without feeling heavy. Also, I know you like leave ins :)
I love the style milk.
Same I have the same texture and I have been using just a teeny tiny bit before I leave the shower and it is making a big difference in my hair so far
hi there! i'm actually contemplating about getting either the smoothie or the milk for my fine, wavy, low-po and low-density hair. does the milk help in enhancing your curls? thanks in advance x
Lola yes it does help ☺️ (I have the same hair type as you)
Hey dear. Do you also use the shampoo and conditioner from this line. If not which shampoo and conditioner do you use.
Apparently they changed the formula for the gel. I bought it recently because of rave reviews and it was exactly the same as in the video. I looked into it and according to a lot of past reviews, people have commented about the odd texture and others who have used it in the past are adamant that the formula has changed.
Do you have any other recommendations for a gel from this brand?
This line is more for people who need way more moisture. Usually people only use the smoothie by itself or the style milk and the souffle together!!
Shea moisture is way too heavy for my wavy hair. I agree that it looks really nice and shiny but it just feels gross in my hair 😢 not for us wavy gals I don't think!
I couldn't agree more!! My hair looks amazing but it's sticky and very heavy..
I just need a good product to help my frizzy hair
I felt both a residue and my hair felt both coated and frizzy😞
@Caramel Cupcake is shea moisture products good for medium porosity?
@Tanner Grinzel On their website they actually say it is for both wavy and curly hair
What shampoo do you use?
The way that you're describing the texture in your hair is reminding me of the way that my hair felt when I tried the Garnier curl treat jelly.
I have probably the same amount of wave/curl in my hair, and I actually really like the curl enhancing smoothie. The gel stuff makes my hair kind of sticky, but I've had success using just a LITTLE bit of it
I have used this before. My first try, I had the same reaction as you. I used much less, and it turned out a lot better. It’s a less is more product.
I have a feeling this will weigh your hair down.
It does look nice on camera, so pretty! Your hair color looks slightly darker and I like it with your pale skin, quite striking! 👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
@Tianna Edward's I've wondered if it would work for me in very small amounts, I don't use as much product as Courtney does.
That has happened to me as well. But try to mix the gel with a spoon in the jar before you use it again and don’t use too much. This gel isn’t meant for fine hair but it’s for thick hair maybe you can gift it to your sister.
I only have their conditioner but im sticking to curlsmith for the rest of it 😭
I liked how your hair looked before you washed it the 2nd time. Even though it felt bad it looked fabulous. Volume and definition 😍
i think i used too much shea moisture curl cream because now my hair has been feeling greasy the past 2 weeks, even after washing it😭
This gel was my holy grail last year but they changed the recipe.
I only have 2b hair. But I also color treat my hair. But some of the products from this line are an absolute god send for my dry hair.
So I have tried a few products from this line. I LOVE that conditioner. I like the smoothie. I LOATHE that gel.
Oh my gosh! I can’t believe this is the first time you are trying Sheamoisture! I’m so excited 😆
but courtney has finer hair and this line is for thicker curls, maybe you should try their weightless fruit fusion shampoo and conditioner, Courtney! BTW your hair is sooooo much like my goals, oh wait! it is. it's sooooo shiny Ibet i I saw u in real life i could see my reflection
Buahaha thank you!
The fruit fusion line was my favorite line because it was specifically for fine curly hair buuttt it was discontinued 😫
Your hair looks so shiny and healthy.
FYI, I have coarse 2A low porosity hair.
use the curl enhancement smoothie as a single styler. I get awesome results from that!
I'm just amazed by how you can finger brush/detangle. If I were to attempt that, my fingers wouldn't even make it through the middle of my hair.
Your hair looks great, just maybe a tad too much product but still good.
Thank you! And I appreciate the feedback there!
I’ve read the curl smoothie separates after sitting too long. It changes back in texture if you pulse with a blender or immersion blender.
Yes! Also, on waves a little goes a LONG way.
I was kind of wondering if that might help. Good idea.
Kinky curling custard I love. Leaves you hair so shiny and soft
Lol
I also had to add protein drops to the product for my hair to hold curl with Cantu. I actually really liked it once I added protein.
Rebekah Land what protein drops do you use?
Also the mask washed with water make your hair waves down???
I have 2a-2b and add a little water to the curl enhancing smoothie in my hands with about a tsp of product! It has completely changed how it works!
I just bought a sample size of the curl smoothie and use it for refresh days on my 2b/2c hair. I love it.
I knew what she meant by seeing how it felt lol
This is what the cantu curl activator did got me.
im starting out on my curly/wavy hair treatment. i want to get my wavy hair back from not treating it properly as i never knew i had. i have no idea where to start or what products to use to help - any advice for type 2b/2c hair? i appreciate any recommendations for products to use and how to do my hair
It can be overwhelming to start! So much information. I have a bunch of video's but these two will be great to start with! Wavy/Curly Hair Journey: Where to Start ruclips.net/video/VamIv6qKiT4/видео.html
Surviving Transition during the Wavy Curly Hair Journey ruclips.net/video/B4JsPTENwj0/видео.html
Today I used suave shampoo, and fructis conditioner, the Maui moisture curl smoothie, and treseme flawless curl mousse
My hair has a variety of curl patterns. 2a-2c and maybe some 3a
Sauve is so bad for your hair
shea butter is generally too heavy for types 2 hair
You never know! In a situation like this, might I suggest clapping out the cast? Just applaud your curls like crazy.
I have the same problem with Shea Moisture. I have 2a waves and it weighs my hair down. Thank you for reviewing this!
Your hair ended up looking AMAZING!!
I have no idea why RUclips suggested your video, bc I totally have 3c/4a hair... BUUUUT I loved this video & I'm now off to watch more!! 💕
TheNenaBrown you are so sweet! Thank you!
Use the product again without the gell.
It’s the gel. Those products are meant for thick hair hence the oil
Now try the new native shampoo
It's the Shea, it makes my hair feel the exact same way!
Yess!! So crazy!!
But I feel that it will def work with someone with thicker hair.
you should get a adjustable measuring spoon
Looks good..struggled to understand why it didn't "feel good"? Scratchy, chunky, hard? Rough? Please describe....ty....Curly Oklahoma girl
It’s the gel you used. The consistency is supposed to be more liquidy, not chunky like that. The one you have appears to have something wrong with it.
I have similar hair to yours and I totally understand what you’re feeling! You should use a lot less product on both styling product, especially the gel, you need the tiniest amount! Now that I’ve learnt how to use it it’s one of my personal favorites. I just use 1/4 tea spoon MAX
Sending you love❤️❤️❤️
I love shea moisture the curling gel souffle saved my hair
I think I am doing it wrong I have wavy hair and some curls but we have similar texture.. I keep getting frizz using the shea moisture curl enchanting smoothie pls help
Try something else
Maybe you should try the gel on its own with out the curl creme next time.
