    Seven years ago I bought a TS55 with an MFT/3 table when I move. Best investment EVER!!! I've also purchased two 1400 rails and a LR32 1400 rail as well. I don't have a space in my small shop to store the long rail. I've developed the technique to join them together correctly. I also purchased the LR32 guide rail plate, Centering mandrel, and 5mm hole bit to use with my adapters to use my PC890 and Makita palm router on the guide rail plate adapter. I don't use a zero clearance plastic edge on the LR32 guide rail as I use some home made spacing jigs to get my 37mm and 32mm drawer glide spacings correct. Along with my Seneca parallel guide adapters, this makes breaking down sheet goods and cutting cabinet sides simple, straight forward, and repeatably accurate. I bought the small table extension as well to support long sheets when cutting, plus my small table saw and router table are the same height as my MFT/3 so I can support sheet goods when breaking them down.
    Here's the deal the Festool tools are used for precision cutting to size and for boring shelf pin holes. My other tools are used to assist. Still looking at that DF500 but my doweling jig, and pocket hole work just fine for getting alignment of the sides and bottom of those boxes just perfect. I also use a Shop vac and a dust separator with a 27mm hose adapter that fits my TS55, PC890, PC 5' RO Sander, and the Makita Palm router perfectly. My dirtiest tools, when I use them, are my router and small table saw. In this shop I did not buy a chop saw because any wood edge banding I need can be cut with the table saw using the correct cross cut sled. Not doing any complex angles like a crown molding would require. Base boards are done with jigs as well if needed. Will give Peter Millard's domino jig a try after Christmas to see if I want to spring for a DF 500 next year. 5mm Domino's are coming for Christmas.

    Hi Christopher: Thank you for the informative video. I have been using an earlier model Festool track saw since 1992. I recently sold it and replaced it with a 36 volt battery powered Makita track saw. It is also a beautiful saw and produces silky smooth cuts. It is compatible with my Festool tracks of which I have both the long and short ones. I have also recently bought the TSO joining bars, parallel guides and rail square from Lee Valley. The rail square is awesome and produces perfectly square cuts speeding up your work. The parallel guides are very accurate and produce repeatable cuts. The joining bars are VERY well machined and automatically align the rails being joined. They work so well that I cut my long track in half for better portability. TSO products are worth checking out. There are lots of RUclips videos about their products. Cheers, John Jensen from British Columbia

    I don't like the way the tracks join either. Here in the US, our standard sheet size is about 1200 x 2500, so a long track would be by first choice for that reason. But with shipping charges they all cost $300-400 just for the long track. If the manufacturers would simply machine an accurate tongue and groove system on the ends of the short tracks, then joining two or more together would be ideal. In theory a person could join as many as the job calls for, so material of any length could be accurately cut with short tracks.

    • @christofix
      @christofix  Год назад

      Those tongue and groove systems at the ends of the short tracks are a good idea. Perhaps manufacturers can actually do something with this. Thanks for sharing this, my friend. Greetings Christophe

    Top machien. De hoeksteen van elk huishouden.
    Ik gebruik de 2 rails van 1400 (zo geleverd bij mijn set aankoop). Occasioneel verbind ik de 2 rails. Ik gebruik daarvoor een aluminium rei-lat van 2 meter, om zeker te zijn dat ze recht aan elkaar staan. Dat gaat zonder enig probleem bij mij.
    Nog een tip: Je kan de zaag ook op zijn zijkant gebruiken. De zijplaat is 90 graden tov de voetplaat. Door de machine op zijn kant te leggen en eventueel te verhogen met iets kan je zo op gewenste hoogte horizontaal snijden. Ik heb het nog nooit iemand zien doen, maar het werkt prima.
    Van de apart aan te schaffen parallel aanslag ben ik ook erg tevreden. Je kan deze aanslag ook gebruiken om de basisplaat te verbreden voor als je delicate snedes doet, zoals de 45 graden verstek snedes.

    • @christofix

      Hoi Nico, dat van de zaag op zijn zijkant gebruiken heb ik ook nog nooit niemand zien doen, maar het lijkt me wel iets logisch omdat deze haaks is. Dit ga ik toch eens moeten proberen. Merci voor deze super tip! Groeten, Christophe

    I have 2x 1400 and 1x 800mm. The 800mm is used for wardrobe builds and making kitchen units as the are a standard depth of 600mm so the 800mm is easy to handle on that maximum depth. The 2x 1400 are so I can get them in my van wile they are in the protective Festool rail bag and still I can join them to cut full 2.4 sheets. 👍🏻😊

    Hi Christopher, that was nice video. I'm also Festool fan, and I notice that in your video, also in description under the video you point by mistake that you buy the older model of that track saw"Festool TS 55 *R* EBQ". Actually in your video you show the newest model "Festool TS 55 *F* EBQ" which is with the newest Blade with thickness 1.8mm comparing the older "Festool TS 55 *R* EBQ" that use 2.2mm thickness Blade. Also mostly because of the blade your track saw "Festool TS 55 *F* EBQ" make cuts twice as fast comparing the oldest model-"Festool TS 55 *R* EBQ". So its very important for everybody who will going to buy track saw from TS55 series to buy the newest Festool TS 55 *F* EBQ, not the oldest Festool TS 55 *R* EBQ model.

      Ik heb jaren de kat uit de boom gekeken voor een TS55. Maar eenmaal aangeschaft heb ik nooit achterom gekeken en moet ik besluiten dat hij meer dan zijn geld waard is. De prijs is hoog, maar de waarde is zowaar nog veel hoger.
      Zoals Chrisptophe zegt: de enige spijt is "waarom heb ik zo lang gewacht". Dat is het cliché der clichés bij festool aankopen.

    The only negative with long rails is transport. I have used festool with 2x1400 joined together plenty of times and I dont remember that gap at the join but I didnt pay attention as workbench is usually already set up for cutting. I don't think you will have problems with cut accuracy because of that gap.

    • @christofix

    1:17 tool says "TS 55 FEBQ" but montage says "TS 55 REBQ" .. which is correct (and why is the other one also in the shot?)

    • @christofix
      @christofix  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for pointing out the discrepancy at 1:17 in the video. You're absolutely right: the tool I referred to should be the 'TS 55 FEBQ'. The mention of 'TS 55 REBQ' in the montage was an editing error on my part. Unfortunately, once a video is uploaded on RUclips, certain aspects like this can't be amended. I appreciate your keen observation and understanding. To clarify for everyone: the correct tool is indeed the TS 55 FEBQ. Thanks for watching and for your support!
      Since you're interested in the details of the tools, I'm curious: What specific features do you look for in a tool like this, or what kind of projects are you planning to tackle that might require such a tool?

Hopefully one day I will be able to, but my cabinet saw is the most expensive tool I own and at double the price of the ts55, I could still justify it because it is the heart of my shop and every single project I do goes through my table saw at least once.
