The refresh on the outside look nice. I was seriously looking at getting an RS, but then GM got rid of the 2.0L Turbo, I immediately crossed it off my list. I cannot fathom paying an RS price for a rental car drivetrain/interior. For a few thousand more, I got a 2022 Durango GT V6/AWD.

Finally catching up on all the Chicago Auto Show videos here and maaaaaaaaan Chevy surely upped the game with this Equinox here!!! I feel like they should've thrown the V6 in there for an RS trim level, or just call this one the RS Line or something like that. IDK....looks great though and the interior is leaps and bounds past the former iterations!!! Great review as usual Joe and Lori!!!
So glad you did this review! I had a 2016 equinox, totalled it, bought a 2015 and that's what I'll trade in soon. My wife has a 2020 and cannot get comfortable in it so the equinox was off my list...until I sat in the red RS at the auto show. Inwas so shocked at how comfortable I was, how much I liked it and the little refresh! This went from last on the list of next vehicle to the second choice, especially with the awd option. The Buick Envision is still first choice😆.

Great review. I just started a lease yesterday with 2022 Equinox RS, my MSRP was about $31k. I wish that it did have the 8 inch screen and the surround camera as a standard option.
Welcome back to Florida Zonkman I mise you and you guys rock at the Chicago Auto Show and I think you've promised that you're doing the house tour. Thank you Apostle Lori for the camera shots.
Just bought a 22 Equinox RS, first new car in 18 yrs. Had cavaliers before. I have had only 1 problem in the first 580 miles; high fuel consumption. Would have bee pleased with 23-25 miles per gallon, but 13.953 in a 179 mile freeway trip. Took it to dealer, no codes thrown could not duplicate. I used Shell 87 grade. Switched to Sunoco same grade and its almost at a quarter below full with 105 miles being driven. My "GHOST" name for vehicle was $33890. plus TX & Title. Will run a few more tankfuls, if same problem dealer said we will call in White Coats from GM. That's my only problem so far.
I dont see the 2.0L engine for this vehicle anywhere on the chevrolet website and from what I’ve read they dropped the engine as an option. Can anyone give me any clarification on that situation?
@@lilred1107 very sad but thanks for clarification. Got my hopes up thinking a chevy cuv might be worth cause it could be exciting but reality is often disappointing.

I own a 2018 Equinox Premier with the 2.0 engine and I love it the only thing I wish it had was Bose. Sound system and front and rear park assist . I like the refresh on the 2022 model my concern to upgrade is the lack of inventory though
Inventory is LACKING. I ordered my 2022 equinox AWD last April, and it BARELY shipped from the plant last week. If my job would let me choose ANYTHING else I would have.
You're right. I Googled the 2022 and MotorTrend has an article saying the 2.0L made a return this year, but a CarAndDriver article says it's still discontinued.

You should have spoke on the front/rear suspension. Looks like the four link rear allows for good handling. The front MacPherson strut system looks like it steers well. How did it seem to you?
Love it. Got the awd with the Rs package. Best features are the comfort, hd screen, panoramic sun roof, heated steering and adaptive cruise control. I’ve been having so much fun. Can’t wait for the summer. Bikes fit easily in the back. No longer need a bike rack. Awd is amazing in the snow. My insurance monitors my driving so even with the 1.5 turbo, I still need to be careful. Plenty fast for me. One thing you missed is extra storage in the back if you don’t cover it with the weather proof covers. We always use it when we go shopping. Love your reviews, but they aways make me hungry for Twinkies.🤗
I think the seat warmer at this time may not work due to the part supply issue for certain vehicles, however later this year GM will invite the vehicles affected by the supply issue to the dealerships to activate the seat warmers or the ventilated seat if applicable. Even in Canada we're affected by this supply chain issue. In fact the Equinox and GMC Terrain are manufactured at CAMI in Ingersoll, Ontario (under 2 hours west of YYZ). In fact your test vehicle's seat warmers are not installed until GM calls in on the parts for the activation of this feature.
My car was hit recently, and I have been put in a Chevrolet Equinox as a rental. I had to use UBER for transportation for rides before the Equinox came. One UBER ride was in a Honda Pilot. The Pilot felt like you were in something lightweight, and the ride was awful. The ride in the Equinox is smooth and quiet. I also do not feel like I am riding in something lightweight. The ride is very good, and the 1.5 liter engine moves the Equinox down the road very well. For my driving, I feel like the 2.0 engine would not be needed under my driving needs since the 1.5 does the job. The Equinox I have also does not have all wheel drive. I do not need all wheel drive where I live. The fuel economy has been 26 miles per gallon in combined city and highway. This is very good gas mileage, and the Equinox has quite a bit of room in it. I feel like it is a much larger mid size vehicle with the roominess of the larger mid size cars of the late 1970's to early 1980's. When the repairs to my car are complete, I will have to return the Equinox back to the rental company. I wish I could keep the Equinox, and may sell my car and buy one.
I just turned 22 and I'm just gettin into cars when he said the 8 inch stuff I ran to see what people said and I see that these are men in these comments...I've found a new group to hang with
Hey Joe and Lori, and also the Raiti's Rides family, how are y'all doing today? 😬 Thanks Joe and Lori for this amazing review about the Chevrolet Equinox which was debuted in 2004 for the 2005 model at the iconic (for me) Detroit Auto show, anyways if you haven't told by my emoji I'm actually confused and thought that Chevrolet stop making this SUV long ago, I also I thought this was a new Buick 😬(and that's why I used this emoji). Anyway the Chevrolet Equinox is like the Toyota Rav-4 of Chevrolet, but it received a facelift for the 2022 model year (which was much needed) and it have a "sporty" trim that is the Rs (that's what Joe is presenting today) and if you have seen there Facebook post (should take a look, it's actually good), it shows that the "new" Chevrolet Equinox have a black leather seats with red stitching/accent. But to keep it "short" (lol short isn't in my dictionary) what is your favorite compact SUV: Maybe the Buick Encore, GMC Terrian Or the more popular compact SUVs like the Nissan Rogue, Toyota Rav-4, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Ford Escape, Volkswagen Tiguan, Subaru Forester, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai kona electric (just an electric Kona), Ford Bronco Sport, or ect. Or maybe if have a bit more money to spend on a Luxury/Premium compact SUV like the: Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-30, Acura MDX, Audi Q3, Jeep compass, Jeep Cherokee, Volvo XC40, Volvo XC40 recharge Pure (electric XC40), or ect.
The whole competition is better than this car, honestly. Gm needs to put the same effort they did into the corvette into their other lineups. But, Great review like always my man Joe
Yeah the interior design is really a letdown to me. The only redeeming quality about these is the optional 2.0T engine that this one didn't have, it's unusually quick. Otherwise boring and too expensive for what you get.

Joe, The 2.0 4 cylinder was dropped after 2021 model. 1.5 is the only engine for 2022 & 2023 as combustion engine wraps up. 2024 Equinox is slated to be all electric. The gray wheels look good new, but will chip & scratch with mechanics. The Premier front looks better without gloss black that will look chipped up. Yes, you are right Equinox is only SUV without black plastic around wheels. That's why we're getting one this year, a Premier one in new color Seaglass blue.
You can fit SIX hotdogs in this center column... More proof Americans will do ANYTHING to not use the metric system. Great review. Seriously looking at an Equinox RS after getting an LT as a rental.

Very little comparison info on the Rav-4 and HR-V. Just bought the 2022 RS in same blue (even prettier blue color in person). Got $1000 off the $38,540 MSRP from the dealer and an extra $1,200 off from GM. I would have wanted more info on the competition, but they were out of the question. I prefer to keep my arms and legs.

Joe and Lori as always I love your reviews. You guys are the best. Maybe Lori could do some reviews, my wife thinks we need to see more of a woman's perspective and I agree. I have a dark blue 2019 FWD Equinox LT 1.5 with the 8 inch touchscreen, roofracks, heated seats etc that i puchased off my lease in December. It drives as well or better than my father in law's 2021 hybrid Rav 4. In fact my Nox feels more nimble Yes the interior has some hard plastic but his Rav 4 has hard plastic along the whole length of the upper door sills down to the armrest, then down to the lower door. He could only get Navigation if its paired to his phone. Guys, these are not high end cars plus plastic is used to reduce weight. Unfortunately GM did discontinue the 2.0 because the demand was so low. GM should bring back the 2.0 and I wish they had a hybrid version, although an all Electric Nox is coming next year. The oil consumption issue on Equinoxes was the last generation with a different motor.
The decontent special. When I got my 2018 Equinox the three engines were 1.6 diesel, 1.5 liter gas and 2.0 liter gas. I got the 1.6 liter diesel in LT 2 trim and AWD. It had the panorama sunroof and the 8" info screen with blind spot monitor in the mirrors. I had exterior door lock releases on all 4 doors now only 2. Now one engine which is punchless and gutless. No thanks
I just looked up on the Chevy site for the 2.0L RS and that is currently not an option. I wish it was, it would make this SUV a contender even though its a heavy car!
Actually, Joe, the 2.0L Turbo engine w/9-speed automatic has been long gone since at least 2K20. The powertrain you’re driving is the only configuration the Equinox comes with (even confirmed on Chevy’s own website). So, yeah, nothing but hot air out of Chevrolet again, offering an RS trim on a vehicle that doesn’t really need it. Wouldn’t get this thing if my life depended on it.
Joe, you glossed over the underneath part of the rear cargo/storage area. What’s under the nice cargo mat? So thorough on the exterior, but I feel like this was a real disappointment. I’m gonna have to Zonk you on that part of the review 😀

Unfortunately, I bought this vehicle in April 2022, and granted the Premier version, which they had also at the dealership, was only a few grand more, I would have gotten the ruby red premier after the fact.
Definitely a mini mini-van. You can fold down the back seats and I am also 6ft tall, but have to bend my neck because the back has no space. There is also no button on the rear door to open from the inside.
Also........mine had 33 miles on it when we left the dealership, and now we are at 12k. Gas mileage is great, but the clear coat was already peeling off by The third month of ownership, right below the rear window wiper. They say it's covered by manufacturer warranty and will repaint it for free, but the quarter panels or bumpers of the vehicle definitely have no protection. The paint just scrapes off and you will see white.
It’s definitely an improvement. In the past I’ve found Chevrolets of all types to look cheap, especially in the interior. And no cvt is also a plus. But even the 2.0 L engine seems underpowered. The Equinox has certainly closed the gap but I’d still take the CR-V and RAV4.

Never liked the Equinox but it's getting better looking ...
I agree with you Rich!
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!

This blue is the perfect color for the Equinox, and the rims too. Bright interior would have been nice.
I dont see the 2.0L engine for this vehicle anywhere on the chevrolet website and from what I’ve read they dropped the engine as an option. Can anyone give me any clarification on that situation?
That had a very low take rate, so it was discontinued.

Thank you for always putting out quality and in depth videos.
Hi Rides What Is Your Best Luxury SUVs In 2022
Is the 2.0T not available yet? I’m on Chevys site right now with no mention of that motor.
Valiant effort by Chevy, but Joe you mentioned a litany of cars at the top of the video that are a better overall deal than this.
I like it Joe but I like the color on it the most, and what color blue is that ?

My dream Chevrolet SUV! Nice video Joe.
Hey Joe and Lori, and also the Raiti's Rides family, how are y'all doing today? 😬
Thanks Joe and Lori for this amazing review about the Chevrolet Equinox which was debuted in 2004 for the 2005 model at the iconic (for me) Detroit Auto show, anyways if you haven't told by my emoji I'm actually confused and thought that Chevrolet stop making this SUV long ago, I also I thought this was a new Buick 😬(and that's why I used this emoji).
But to keep it "short" (lol short isn't in my dictionary) what is your favorite compact SUV:
Maybe the Buick Encore, GMC Terrian
Or the more popular compact SUVs like the Nissan Rogue, Toyota Rav-4, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Ford Escape, Volkswagen Tiguan, Subaru Forester, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai kona electric (just an electric Kona), Ford Bronco Sport, or ect.
I love how new this Equinox looks like. I see this, the 2.0T, the Premier (and on very occasional times, the Turbodiesel) wherever I go.
They won't. GM is like every sports franchise in Detroit. They aspire to complete mediocrity

I agree Joe, 8" is fine.
I like the looks of it. I'd be concerned about overall quality, especially with all the hard plastic surfaces.
Needs the 2.0T, with an 8 spd, and AWD to be a compelling choice to me.
I just went online at the Chevy Equinox site to build a 2022 Equinox and did not see an option to add a 2.0ltr engine. 1.5 across the board.
I think they are holding off on that while supply chain issues are still disrupted.

Yeah it would be a great idea to have women review cars sometimes. I don't mind that.
Thanks for sharing that info!
