Nope...they dropped the 2.0T for the 1.5T slug. Chevy's reasoning was poor sales?!??! First, that is BS. They build more 1.5T's because that is the standard engine. The 2.0T is optional. Is that number split 50/50 when a shipment arrives at the dealership? NOPE...1 - 2.0T for every 5 or more 1.5T's. That is why the sales stats are lopsided. Idiotic marketing! Prior to the drop, the Equinox was one of the most powerful in its class. Now its the weakest!!! I road tested the 1.5T and was ready to walk out the door and the salesman said we have a 2.0T which has almost 100 more HP. What a difference between the two! I'm glad I got my 2020 with the 2.0T. They did 1 thing "almost" right though. Got rid of all that extra chrome that no one wants lol. I like chrome, but my Equinox originally came with more chrome than a Harley! WTF!!!

GM is no longer slapping four grand on the hood, the way they did pre-pandemic, but they still maintain a real-world cost advantage, on a couple of fronts. Though they’ve mostly stopped the crazy rebates, their financing deals are still leaps and bounds ahead of what competitors offer. 0% for five years, 1.9% for six. $299/month lease with only $1k down (or nothing down if you currently lease another car). Great review. Very odd but the driver side back seat doesn’t have a rear pocket. The passenger side does. I would rather have more trunk space (for work storage) than leg space in the rear seats. Otherwise, it’s a dependable and perfectly fine car in its category.
I love that the car doesn’t have a lot of unnecessary features because that just means more things that cab break. The competitors focused on the top levels to offer. If the dealership are not doing markups, this us the suv to get. Love it!

My complaint with the Equinox, and the Terrain for this matter, is the rear ac tunnel. It is not flush with the front seats like a well done cuv. It goes too much rearward that the middle seat occupant will not feel comfortable.

Honda has better handling than Toyota. Toyota probably installs the best A/C in their autos. Toyota has the most patents on solid state batteries, it is reported
One big problem with east Asian cars: driver’s seats are back killers but I admit I havent tried a full-size SUV from them. The new RAV4s and Passports may also be comfortable in driver’s seat
I own a 2.0 premier and I was looking at a new one until I learned that the 2.0 with the 9 speed trans is no longer available, that is a deal breaker for me, the smaller engine is lacking in power
Exactly. I’ll have to hold on to my 2019 until I can go EV. The 2.0 turbo with the 9 speed is very satisfying to drive. That extra power got me out of the way of crashes more than once, acceleration is just as much a safety feature as breaks.

I leased a 2022 equinox, didnt see the gas tank in your video. I wanted to see if it is filled up by the left opening or does the rubber come off on the right, under the external flap.
I liked the car and your review of it. My brother just bought one the other day. gas mileage would be my biggest concern, my ford focus gets 42 to a gal. but they have well-known trans problems. so now I am looking for something myself.

Hey Nolan Good to see you do the Equinox. I think this car don’t get enough love. I love my Impalas WIRELESS 4G WIFI up to 7 devices for $15 a month. ABsolute no issues with it. Where my Phone has dead spots in some areas the WIFI keeps me conntected. ALso Love the Pano Roof everyone talks about it that rides in it. I think this Equinox needed a little more change. Hybrid for one, and better exterior style, and a better updated interior with a digital Gauges. I should of waited to comment intil the end. You said what I said LOL>
I own a 2007 Equinox...I love it & would recommend the Equinox. 170,000 miles & still going strong. Had a Blazer before that and it lasted 12yrs before I got the Equinox..I got tired of the color but it was running fine.
The one thing this has that the others don’t is the ability to tow with all four wheels down. Can’t do it with any of the others mentioned as competitors here.. you have Ford and Jeep for the most part. Can’t do with any hybrid or full electric. So need something to tow behind motorhome and can’t have cut.
Does it still have an auto stop? What I meant by that is when you come to a complete stop, it would shut off! The only way it would start back up, if you let off the brake or it would start back up on its own after a few minutes!
The original 2.0 would not meet pollution certifications that were increased in California. They have a new 2.0 but with slightly reduced numbers. It is in the Envision now. But unfortunately with covid affecting parts supply chains, they have limited number available and are keeping it in the Buick’s for now. It was planned to be in the Equinox and Terrain until covid affected supplies.
That’s a good question because this refresh was supposed to come sooner than this so no telling when they will actually go with the new generation. Traverse refresh was supposed to come earlier too but is coming for this 2022 year
@@PrimeAutotainment - It also said it would be on the same platform as the Encore GX and Trailblazer. I hope it would obviously be a stretched version of it, but still that probably means a crappier ride versus being on a larger sturdier platform.
I have almost a year behind the wheel of the 2020 Equinox 1.5T/6 speed. My biggest complaint with the transmission is that it REALLY likes to hold higher gears. It's too slow to downshift. There's one corner in my daily commute that drives me nuts because it ALWAYS refuses to downshift until I put my foot into the gas pedal, then it drops two gears and makes me feel like boy racer. LOL Is there finally an auto stop/start disable button in the 22s?? My other biggest gripe about the 'nox. Always have to shift it down to manual and tap the + 5 times to disable that stupid system. But I find the 1.5T peppy, if not earth shattering, and I CONSISTENTLY get better than EPA fuel economy on the highway. I've had up to 37mpg highway on a full tank over multiple days. Normally 34/35 until winter. Extreme cold and the AWD on snowy/slushy roads always makes the mpg drop. If you're in a cold climate (I'm in central Canada), and get temps down into the -30/-40s ... the 1.5T can struggle to maintain operating temps on the highway. We had issues this past January with the intercooler icing and the PCV system froze up causing the front AND rear crank seals to blow out. It was in the shop almost a full month getting repaired. So if you get cold winters like I do, definitely invest in a cold front ... if you can find one. I'm still searching.
Have you asked your GM dealer for one of those Winter Grille covers? My Buick dealer gave me one when I purchased a 2013 Buick Encore and when I went in to look at a 2022 Encore GX, they said that they also had the winter grilles for that car as well if I wanted to buy it
The 22's now on lots DO have the disable button right next to the emergency flashers button. As for holding gears (obviously for good fuel economy) can you tap the manual buttons on the top of your shifter (even with it just in D) and downshift that way (without having to drop the shifter into L) ? I know Subaru my Acura MDX will allow you to do that, nice feature.
@@ofcbob6391 Yes, you can certainly do that ... some days I do. What I find bad about that is if I have a passenger with me, due to the location of the buttons on top of the shifter and it's position when in D/L, I'm elbowing them in the side in order to do it unless I do a little funky chicken dance move and wave my elbow up in the air to tap the buttons. Ergonomically, it's truly terrible. When I'm driving solo, yeah, no problem. Double tap down just before the apex of the turn and it's golden. But it shouldn't need to be that much work. It should respond to my foot on the pedal and drop ONE gear, instead of waiting until I have to floor it, drop two gears, rev up to 4,000rpm and make me look like boy racer. LOL
@level7041 Buying one without a block heater isn't even an option here. LOL No, it's an actual design flaw. The issue has recurred EVERY winter now, at least once, and I won't leave home without a code reader in the vehicle if it's below freezing. Dealer just applied the latest and last "fix" GM offers for the known issue and clearly stated that they don't have any faith that the fix will make any difference with the issue. It's a design flaw, at the engineering level. In our town of less than 8,000 people, they have over five dozen customers with the same issue with the Equinox, 2018 and up. (current generation) If you live where it never freezes, you're fine. They shouldn't sell the vehicle in Canada, or anywhere north of Georgia as far as I'm concerned. A bit sad, because it's really the only issue we've had with it - just happens to be a big one!
I have the 2020 equinox LT Its a good car but, there's a dangerous glare in the info screen with driving in the daytime. I was hoping they would fix this in the upgrade, sense they didnt i don't think I will get the new model.
Tbh my 2017 equinox 2LT is way nicer interior quality … was considering getting something new but after seeing this I may just put money into my equinox and upgrade it only have 65k miles …
Why would you ever get rid of the 2.0L turbo? I've had 2 of them and they get as good of fuel mileage as the 1.5L. Come on Chevy, bring it back and the 9 speed tranny.
Great rental car! lol. Having driven a Equinox... the only thing thats good about them are the lease prices. Other than that, there is way too much competition out there, that absolutely KILLS this. Kia Sportage would be one I'd get... or Mazda Cx-5.
Love my '19 Equinox 2.0T. It's cute and faster than both of those cars you mentioned since I actually test drove the Kia before I bought my car. The Mazda looks a little nicer but way more expensive than the $19k I bought my car for last year.
Wheres the water pump? Still where its hard to change? On that 2022 will sensors start going bad in 5 years like the 2016 overpriced problem we have right now?
The fact that the one and only engine is a lowly 170 HP 1.5T on both this and the more expensive Terrain showcases how GM just doesn't care about fun or excitement or customer satisfaction. Agendas, box checking and Barra's triple three battery electric future is literally all she cares about. My 2019 Impala will be my last GM ever since they refuse to make sedans other than small overpriced Cadillacs.
On another comment video of the Equinox I spoke well of it and added that i'm considering pourchasing one. I was absolutely villified by several posters saying how lousy the Equinox is. I answered There's a reason it's GM's bread and butter car, and besides hundreds of thousands of Equinox buyers can't be wrong. They wrote me back saying these buyers are all wrong. I'm still conisdering getting one although I'm not sure which trim I'd get.
I just ordered a ‘22 Equinox LT earlier this week with nearly all the bells/whistles you can get on the LT trim, very excited to pick it up when it comes in. I had a ‘20 Trax LT and having something that small and underpowered just wasn’t cutting it for me anymore
@@danielroberto9183-w8j will do. My in-laws had a ‘19 Equinox LT before upgrading to a Blazer a few years ago, they loved it, they even let me take their Equinox for a drive a few times and I felt jealous of them at the time bc of how nice their Equinox was and how smooth it was too
The RS trim looks promising. That chrome in the fascia is overkill with the other trims. The C-pillar has been bugging me since this body style was first introduced. I mentioned in a different video and I will say it here: Chevy is not making the Equinox competitive and I wouldn’t choose it over anything in its class. The new Hyundai Tucson and upcoming Kia Sportage are going to take the Equinox’s lunch and dinner.
1.5 turbo no other option ? no turbo for me.. no thank you ,,had three with turbo,s it mess''s up ur engine if not serviced in three years..what happen to the 2.4 ?
No faith in GM. Prefer what Mazda is doing these days. Been watching Kia as well as their progress is real. Not wishing any ill to GM. One day they may turn back towards the greatness they once had.

Can anyone tell me the last good interior of any GM car? Make and model please. Maybe the 1970's trans am?
You did say that this particular model is around $30,000? If so, that's a pretty good price for all the features you get!
The only thing I want to know is, Can I change my transmission fluid?
I leased a 2022 equinox, didnt see the gas tank in your video. I wanted to see if it is filled up by the left opening or does the rubber come off on the right, under the external flap.
The Blazer kinda stole the Equinox's thunder - its the better looking of the two.
BEAUTIFULL LITTLE TRUCK..
Is there a spare tire under the cargo area? Please let me know.
Might be a good vehicle for Grand Ma Ma.
I want to know if they changed the timing chain design the keep blowing up ?
I liked the car and your review of it. My brother just bought one the other day. gas mileage would be my biggest concern, my ford focus gets 42 to a gal. but they have well-known trans problems. so now I am looking for something myself.
I have a 2015 civic, great little car but already needs some work suspension wise, my dad has a 2012 rav4 which I like the ride height, and I’ll probably going to get a small compact suv.
Hey Nolan, the LS will still have unpainted black mirror covers
You’re right, I’m sorry! Thanks for the correction 👍
Hey Gene978, since you own one, does it come with Sirius XM radio? Lots of cars have it and provide from 90 days to 6 months of free trial.

I own a 2007 Equinox...I love it & would recommend the Equinox. 170,000 miles & still going strong. Had a Blazer before that and it lasted 12yrs before I got the Equinox..I got tired of the color but it was running fine.
Sharp Looking 2022 Chevrolet Equinox SUV-I test drove a 2021 Chevy Equinox at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show
The one thing this has that the others don’t is the ability to tow with all four wheels down. Can’t do it with any of the others mentioned as competitors here.. you have Ford and Jeep for the most part. Can’t do with any hybrid or full electric. So need something to tow behind motorhome and can’t have cut.
Hi Nolan 👋
Thanks for stopping by!
Shout out from Frisco, Tx
Does it still have an auto stop? What I meant by that is when you come to a complete stop, it would shut off! The only way it would start back up, if you let off the brake or it would start back up on its own after a few minutes!
Still got bumps, groves, or creases on the body. The old one like in 2011 I think was good shape
The screen is kinda facing upwards towards the front windshield.
Getting rid of 2.0 Turbo is mistake i love my 2018 that little motor will run. I dont get why they do this i wouldnt want a 2022 because of this.
Yup I wont be trading my 2019 2.0T for this new one since GM got rid of the motor, so they lost 2 sales so far lol.
This is why I purchased a 2020
The original 2.0 would not meet pollution certifications that were increased in California. They have a new 2.0 but with slightly reduced numbers. It is in the Envision now. But unfortunately with covid affecting parts supply chains, they have limited number available and are keeping it in the Buick’s for now. It was planned to be in the Equinox and Terrain until covid affected supplies.
I like the new look looks sort of look like the blazer in the front with the lights i hope to get a equinox in 2022 or 23
Which size wheel feels best on the Equinox?
I have 2018 love it
So does the Equinox LT 2022 come with universal remote/garage door opener (home link)?
I had a 19 with the 2.0 turbo. That thing went and the towing was twice as much as as the 1.5. Like you can shut off the auto stop on the 22.
Those 2.0s are so fast.
When will this car get a new generation? This is like the second or third refresh. Practically everything else available in this segment is better.
That’s a good question because this refresh was supposed to come sooner than this so no telling when they will actually go with the new generation. Traverse refresh was supposed to come earlier too but is coming for this 2022 year
@@PrimeAutotainment - GM Authority states a next gen will be 2025 my. That makes 8 years for this current gen.
Dang that stinks. Seems like it’s a pretty low priority for them right now
@@PrimeAutotainment - It also said it would be on the same platform as the Encore GX and Trailblazer. I hope it would obviously be a stretched version of it, but still that probably means a crappier ride versus being on a larger sturdier platform.
This is the first refresh. It was completely redesigned for the 2018 MY and this refresh was delayed a year due to Covid
LOL
Is there finally an auto stop/start disable button in the 22s??
My Buick dealer gave me one when I purchased a 2013 Buick Encore and when I went in to look at a 2022 Encore GX, they said that they also had the winter grilles for that car as well if I wanted to buy it
@@marco.morel04 I did over the winter, but they warranty installed the "active grill shutters" instead. I'm unconvinced they're a superior option.
You must of drilled a big hole 😂😂😂 11:50
Scuttlebutt says, the single engine choice will be expanded for 2023.
CX5 or Rogue for me
Thanks for stopping by Miguel!
I'd drive this anyday over a Rogue, yuck. CX-5 is a good option.
Very nice.
Man that interior is FUGLYYY
Glad I got a tuscan.
I love mine
Tbh my 2017 equinox 2LT is way nicer interior quality … was considering getting something new but after seeing this I may just put money into my equinox and upgrade it only have 65k miles …
I like the vehicle. I don't like the way the engine idles at times/ feels like its misfiring.
what ,no cd player ?
This for 2022? Chevy should look into the competitions seriously.
Why would you ever get rid of the 2.0L turbo? I've had 2 of them and they get as good of fuel mileage as the 1.5L. Come on Chevy, bring it back and the 9 speed tranny.
I had a 2018 with the 2.0T & 9 speed combo...it was a great combo. However the take rate was miniscule for the 2.0T.
Yes the fuel reduces for 5 days great
Love the update ❤
Oh man Chevrolet, kia and Hyundai are going to eat your market share.
This review just passed me to another choice.
Nice looks, could use more power though.
My 2016 CTS says what...will never overpay for a BMW or Merc again.
Wanna talk about lowly power? Downgrade 2 notches to a Trax. Those are woefully slow and can’t even get out of their own way
On another comment video of the Equinox I spoke well of it and added that i'm considering pourchasing one.
@@wns808 Good luck with it and keep us informed about the car when you get it.
@@danielroberto9183-w8j will do. My in-laws had a ‘19 Equinox LT before upgrading to a Blazer a few years ago, they loved it, they even let me take their Equinox for a drive a few times and I felt jealous of them at the time bc of how nice their Equinox was and how smooth it was too
@@wns808 how’s it driving ?
@@tommydub7785 2 months in & so far so good. Very smooth ride
That seaglass colour is homely. 😑
Chevy Equinox is the best selling vehicle after the Silverado it has been a success and they will not mess with it to much on a mid cycle refresh
@@mikeske9777 oh no doubt, it sells very well, considering. It’s a no frills, everything you need crossover for sure.

1.5 turbo no other option ? no turbo for me.. no thank you ,,had three with turbo,s it mess''s up ur engine if not serviced in three years..what happen to the 2.4 ?
Ill bet its another cardiac of america.
then motor shut off at lights would bother me!

The front looks like a Honda. Rear looks like a Hyundai Sante Fe
No faith in GM. Prefer what Mazda is doing these days. Been watching Kia as well as their progress is real.
Not wishing any ill to GM. One day they may turn back towards the greatness they once had.
Disappointed. I own a 2018 and can’t find a suitable replacement from Chevy when my lease is up. Sigh. Absolutely nothing to look forward to 😐
Yep, lifelong chevy guy here and it looks like my current will be my last. Such disappointment from their current offerings.
So all cars have the same interior
