    As a medium swing speed senior, I hit woods / hybrids better than irons, so I have gone with it. I now carry two fairways, (adjustable Cobra F8s 13.5 and 18.5) and 4 and 5 G410 hybrids. I am about to add a 6 hybrid, dropping out my 5 and 6 irons, which will also allow me to add another wedge lower down the bag.

    Hey Ali. I own two of the Ping G 425 Max Woods in the # 3 and the # 5. Love them both. Honestly speaking I have never seen a better hybrid in terms of feel , ability to aim at targets, way they look and forgiveness. I recently tested the G 425 hybrids versus Taylormade Stealth's. I would be considered a mid handicap golfer and I am a senior as well. I tried both makes over the course of several days in various lofts and in senior flex. Both the Stealth's and G 425 's are quality clubs but for me the Ping's were by far the best choice for me. I really like the 3 dots on the Ping models and the face as far as aligning my shots. I felt it was easier to aim at my targets then the Stealth was. I ended up adding several of the Ping G 425 hybrids to my bag. Great review here Ali. Thank you. Joe

    Excellent review video. I got my 3 wood today and went down to the range. Super impressed with the club. The wrap face sounds and feels really solid. My carry distance from my ancient Calloway was 20 yards up. Dispersion was much improved. I’m thinking of getting either a hybrid or 7 wood. I would like to retire my 4 and 5 iron as I hit both the same distance. Thanks for helpingme make a choice.

    Great video - easily one of your best from a content and findings perspective. If you, likely a scratch golfer, are hitting a 7-hybrid like that, then you can stop most of your fittings at an 8-iron - then into 7,6,5,4 hybrids - then 7wood (that flight and stopping power was amazing). When you get out of lockdown, I would love to see you play a round of golf with a bag setup like that - or do it now virtually vs your stock bag, and see what the results are.

    Enjoyed the reviews and the format with the interchanging of the different clubs from similar distances. I too have a similar conundrum with the 7 wood vs hybrid debate. I've hit the 3 hybrid and it's great. Very hot, and love the shape, although do get the occasional left shot off the planet. Not so much with the fairways. Subscribed.

    Didn’t like hybrids either but love my Ping G410 hybrid because I could set it flatter. After that straight and workable ballflight (low, high, straight curved). Love that club, maybe this year also a Ping fairwaywood or the TSi3....looking forward testing them on trackman after lockdown....

    I have a G30 7wood (heaven wood) and can back it up from time to time. I took both 3 and 4 irons out of the bag and just choke down an inch or so to get 4 iron distance out of it. I'm a 4 handicap for what it's worth.

      So you wouldn't play the driven iron 3 or 2 is what you saying.. I need a 200-yard club. my 4 iron goes 190 at 22 lofts.. I need 19 lofts or 18 lofts to get the 200yrds.. Ping suggests I get the crossover at #3 with 20 lofts. But I'm not sold on it.. any help.

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 3 года назад

      @@bnzstheboy6520 If your 4 iron 'carries' 190, I would look for a 205 'carry' club - make the gapping 15 at the long end of the bag - it gives more flexibility. The other thing to do is pick a shot shape that you want this club to hit - so that you can count on it - and then build the club that aids this shot shape. As an example, my 22-degree Taylormade GapR High, I play 2 clicks open to 21 degrees (this should be more fade like, but I put it in the Upright setting, and that combo produces a 5-7 yard draw - I also replaced the stock shaft with a heavier 110-gram Steelfiber X-flex that is 1/2 shorter which matches the shaft in my longest iron - a 24 degree Mizuno HMB 5-iron). For 'my' next club, which is sort of the club that you are looking for, is my struggle, because a 19-degree hybrid, played open at 18-degrees for a 5-yard fade, which I prefer at the 220-yard distance, doesn't come in as high as I want (I've hit a bunch in the simulator trying clubs and my descent angle drops below 45-degrees to the 40-43 range - you can see it in the video here - it's a great flight, not too low like the 2 driving iron - I would call it a mid-flight - but it doesn't have that 7-wood decent angle where you know it will stop - and that is why you are seeing Pros put 7woods in the bag on certain courses - it's the decent angle - that said, if you play in really windy conditions, it won't always be the right club). I'm a big fan of 4-hybrids (23 to 20 degrees) because most good players have enough speed, with the aid of the club's CG, to get that 33+ yard peak height and greater than 45-degree descent angle. It's the next club, that 17-20 degree range, where the hybrid, while still far better than a long iron, starts to not be optimal for most golfers (I'm a 6 handicap with a 108mph driver swing speed), very similar to what you see in this video. I would try a variety of clubs, 7 woods that you open/de-loft a click or 2, if you want to hit a fade, or possible a 5-wood, 1/2 to 3/4 and inch shorter, that you increase in loft a click or two (if you want a draw) and compare those 2 with a 3-hybrid, also playing with the face angle for shot-shape. I find really spending the time and effort to fix this part of the bag from an area of weakness and making it into a strength is an instant handicap improvement and it is where most amateurs can fundamentally make huge improvements - again, look for a goto shot-shape and a 45degree land angle, or higher, if possible.

    Great video (despite the rather depressing black backdrop!). Looking forward to when I’m allowed out to go and get fitted for this range. Very keen to try out the 7FW for the first time, though I note that the loft on this club is different on the Max and SFT models, which is a bit confusing.
    My biggest dilemma however is over the hybrids as I just don’t understand how the lofts are calculated. For instance, the 26 degree hybrid is meant to replace a 5 iron, yet is actually the same loft as the 6 iron! If anybody can shed some light on this, then would be much appreciated.

    7w seems a bit more forgiving and if you struggle with thin hits (I know I do) the lower cg should offer better ball speed retention. Im planning to switch into one this season.
