Thank you for Sharing this Daniel. I have seen and heard this recording before, it is a stunning piece. I play the Great Highland Bagpipe and I have a set of small pipes as well, but they don't seem in that good condition or performance. Being a MacRae (I spell mine as MacCrea) and having a huge amount of interest in Gaelic culture I learned this tune but in a different version, I later found that I preferred a version closer to the one you just shared, and I learned that. As I have listened to the Weavers version over time, I have wondered if they were using a different kind of bagpipe to come up with the sound therein... As you may well know, there are a number of types of "Pipes" out there and the sound, function and array of notes vary in these. Tapaid Leibh a-rithist (Thank you again!)
Well done! It evokes such a beautiful, peaceful feeling. I am ready to go to Scotland, too. I would love to find out where some of our ancestors lived and go there.
