I've noticed that many of the "gentle giants" breeds start suffering the same problem as tiny breeds. People hear that they're gentle and mild tempered and don't train/socialize them well - I'm not referring to these specific owners, I've seen a lot of bernies and newfies that didn't live up to their reputations. Also, lots of people get them expecting them to be lazy teddy bears when especially young males can be pretty rowdy if you can't train them.
Yeah, I have noticed the same thing. Far too many people don't realize that the "friendly" breeds are only like that because they usually socialize easily, not because they're naturally docile. *Some* rare dogs might be, but that's a roll of the dice.
They were bred for work in snow, and they never had to worry about slobber, given that they were outside a lot. It's only a problem now that they've got cushy 😅
Shows the importance of early socialization, especially with large breeds like the Saint Bernard. He can't be scared of something that he is used to. But since this was his first groom, he was too scared of the noises.
Can't imagine how he would have reacted in a normally loud salon with dogs barking and multiple dryers going off. I think Vanessa might have a new client whether she wants one or not!😂
The "cameraman" and Vanessa......"Gooooood boy..good boy..nope nope..Good boooooy". Doggo's response can not be said due to RUclips community standards. 🤣
Just bathed my Bernese this morning.. I've done this since she was a pup, so she's very used to the shower and blower 😊.. I trim her paw pads myself. Just take her to a groomer to do her nails. This is a handsome bernard-bernese ❤️
You are incredibly patient with all breeds. Thank you for being so kind to both cats and dogs. It is so true that pets need to be acquainted with the grooming process early on so that it is normal to them instead of something that is unusual or even scary.❤
Well done Vanessa, he really was a challenge. It just goes to show that grooming from a puppy is so beneficial to all dogs but especially big dogs with long hair. He looks great despite his grinch feet 😅 and I'm sure he feels better for it too ❤xx
Aww, what a handsome boy! Yeah, it's difficult to get the big ones to do something they don't want to do. Especially when they're just teenagers like this big boy. My 127lb Pyr/Anatolian took one look at Santa the other day and noped right out of there. No cute Santa pictures this year. :(
I love the saints! I had one several years ago. She was a DIVA and she knew it! She was very well behaved, and loved attention. Training needs to start very YOUNG. Mine passed away at 12. She was the best dog, and had no idea how big she was. We still miss you Daisy girl.
The Saint Bernard once was a medium weight dog that was nimble enough to walk through fresh pulver snow from avalanches without sinking in too much to find people under the snow. It sad how, especially in the United States, the Saint Bernard was bred into a big, heavy, drooling mascot of his former self. Before that, the Saint Bernard had a body more like a bigger Bloodhound.
Yeah he is way to big and strong to not be cooperative. The owners need to do much more training and desensitization with him. He also needs far more exercise so that nervous energy melts away.
First, he's only a puppy. Giant breed dogs like that are still puppies at 18 months. And he's scared. He's probably never been away from one of his owners for very long. I think he's actually extremely well behaved, considering his age and his size.
The owners need to give him baths at home as well. How do they expect their dog to handle grooming well when they never tried to socialize him with baths?
The biggies are always the biggest babies, it seems. Took our 127 lber to help pick out the new puppy, and when they all pell-melled out the door he let out a yelp and literally jumped straight up into my arms. As he outweighed me, I have no idea how I kept my feet. Ahhh, yes, my scary, ferocious Rottweiler. So embarrassing. 🤣🤣
I have two ten month old Saint Bernese and trying to groom them is an adventure, to say the least... The male screams like a husky and thrashes around like a hooked swordfish if he knows he's about to get a bath 😅
Think of it as progress. Next time he comes in, he'll have an idea of what to expect and he'll (hopefully) be a little more comfortable and a little less scared.
The Bernese mountain dog explains the face and size, he sure doesn't look like a purebred Saint Bernard... Two very chill dogs givings us a scaredy cat 😂 He's cute, though...
Kody's still just a baby. 15 months is still pretty young. He'll get used to grooming soon enough. For the most part, he WAS being a good boy for the entire groom until you had to put the muzzle on him.
When I was a kid we had a saint bernard. It was the most insane dog I've ever had. Whenever we would let him in from being outside we'd get up as high as we could on furniture because he'd rush in and go crazy.
Noooo - the cameraman barking on command and his comments, this whole groom was hilarious! 😂 Of course it wasn’t for you wrestling him in your salon. But watching it - Cody with „everything is a problem“
"We are not throwing tantrums."
I THINK YOU'LL FIND WE ARE THROWING TANTRUMS MADAM
Indeed lol
but he is still so cute tho 🤣
Kody knows the St Bernard “just plop down, and they can’t take me anywhere” trick
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In pre-school and child care, we call it The Rag Doll, but I now vote to rename it The St. Bernard.
@@RainCheck797I read this as "Sit Bernard" and I vote that's what we call it
@VioletDraconia 💀 damn, consider it done!
I'm glad you have the cameraman's help with this silly baby Saint Bernese.
Saint Bernard.

15 months?! He's just a toddler!
only he dont toddle
@@Safiyyah-n4d Ha!
He does waddle
at the end she says 2 years old... hmmm...
Thank you for being so patient. I don't think a lot of groomers would.
Don’t know how they were bred for working. You spend more time cleaning up their slobber than they spend awake during the day
I read somewhere that they were snow dogs, the kind that would search for any missing person in the snow
How disgusting! I don't know how people can live like that.
They were bred for work in snow, and they never had to worry about slobber, given that they were outside a lot. It's only a problem now that they've got cushy 😅
The slobber is a hard pass
@@Yesica1993 I think you're on the wrong channel if you're offended by doggy hygiene issues
"Oh gosh. Everything is a problem."
I felt that. But he is so cute.
LOL my dog at home perked up when she heard Vanessa say "WALK!?" 😂💗
Bark like a dog! Your camera man is very well trained :)
I think he did well for his first groom. You are so patient and caring! Good job😊
He is a Scared Bernard, not a Saint Bernard.
Baby steps, Kody
Poor thing, scared of everything! Definitely needs some more experience with grooms! Very cute giant potato, though! 😊❤❤❤
*slams on the brakes*
"That doesn't work on tile!!!" *skid*
"Don't do anything rude." Proceeds to be rude.
Prime example of why it's important to teach doggos the grooming processes while they are still puppies. I love St. Bernards.
“Pretend it’s a couch” 🤣
He's beautiful, no amount of hair or slobber would deter me from owning such a magnificent beast.
He is lovely 🌹 You are such a patient loving groomer😂I always enjoy your sessions.
Yes! Vanessa is an all-around amazing young lady!❤
He's just a big baby🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
“It’s okay! It’s okay!”
“You keep using this word… I do not think it means what you think it means.”
No,Vizzini it isn't.
That was some groom.Thank you Vanessa and (camera man).

Good patience! You did well, he looks great!
How he can be 15 months and no bath he is on a farm? Thank you Vanessa for a great job!!!

He’s SO interested in what you’re doing, his eyes on your every movement. He’s gorgeous.
Aww poor baby, it sucks he's so scared but it's a good thing his first groom is with someone so kind and patient.
You & the cameraman did a really good job! Kody is a goodball but you guys prevaled & he looks beautiful! ❤
You are incredibly patient with all breeds. Thank you for being so kind to both cats and dogs. It is so true that pets need to be acquainted with the grooming process early on so that it is normal to them instead of something that is unusual or even scary.❤
Love the cheerleading camera man!
Him picking his feet up as you are trying to trim them is so funny, most likely not funny at the time, but very funny to watch now!
Well done Vanessa, he really was a challenge. It just goes to show that grooming from a puppy is so beneficial to all dogs but especially big dogs with long hair. He looks great despite his grinch feet 😅 and I'm sure he feels better for it too ❤xx
OMG, He is such a goofball! 😂 He i still a baby. He will be huge. They are great for cuddling. 😊

We love watching your channel. My oldest adores mayo and akoya. I love the furnadoes and my youngest loves the songs you make up while grooming 😂
The cameraman is such a good hype-man!!
Them shampoo tubs be HUGE!
The constant "Where are you touching??" reactions are hilarious.
Oh my god the way he hid into the corner of the table during the blowdry 😂 what a big baby

Was Kody recently adopted? I hope? I can’t imagine having a large breed for the first year of his life and not socializing him and bathing him. 😮
The owners need to give him baths at home as well. How do they expect their dog to handle grooming well when they never tried to socialize him with baths?
He was difficult to groom but cute Kody❤❤
Saint Bernard's are some or my favorite dogs ever
15 months without a bath. Glad there’s no smell transmitted over the internuts.
There’s always a opposite and equal reaction. Have a safe and happy thanksgiving ❤🐾🐾
My dog tries to eat anything that's not safe
Soap, pool choline, etc
You're so kind and patient Vanessa.
I hope the pawrents tipped you well. That cutie was a handful! Whew🥲😁
What a ok boy, can't quite give him a good boy status yet. Hopefully the owners can take a hint and start to work with him to get him settled down.
Such a big boy is going to be a challenge, especially his 1st groom ever

Adorable 😊🐕💚
And they say a groomers job isn't stressful!! No wonder why some groomers want to throw their hands up in the Air and have a strong drink afterwards!!
I suffer from anxiety, Vanessa 😂 please, wash and cut my hair 😂😂😂😂 I would love it
He's handsome. I hope he learns to accept grooming.
Definitely need to get him training for a groomer sooner.
I grew up with a rough coat Saint. Perfect with family. Would take out screen doors if a stranger walked down the street.
I have two ten month old Saint Bernese and trying to groom them is an adventure, to say the least... The male screams like a husky and thrashes around like a hooked swordfish if he knows he's about to get a bath 😅
Yep, the older we get, the less we like new things.
And when we get really old, bathing is a workout.
Kody is adorable. He is 1 powerful puppy. I want to cuddle him he's so cute.
Cody said you can catch these hands lol
Those mats behind the ear on Saints are a real thing, lol!
Cody- Vanessa was not going to leave that matt in! No way!!😂❤️
🍃🌷🍃His face is SO cute🥹!🥰🥰🥰🍃🌷🍃
Ok Vanessa your fans are so ready to see you and your camera man together 😂😂
Won't happen. Camera man is her fiancé and preferes to be anonymous.
A beautiful dog with a mind of his own.
Drinking soapy water is very Saint Bernard thing to do.
Hi Vanessa. He looks soooooo confoooosssed. 😅 And beautiful!!!
AnYthing exists in the grooming salon
Kody: MOM CAN YOU PICK ME, I'M SCARED AND I THINK THIS IS A TORTURE CHAMBER LOOK AT THOSE THINGS .
I came for the chaos 😂
For such a small gal, you take on these gigantic dogs. He is still young, you did a good job,
He seems to really interested in the cameraman.
Oh my goodness, what a baby. I love big ol' babies.
Think of it as progress. Next time he comes in, he'll have an idea of what to expect and he'll (hopefully) be a little more comfortable and a little less scared.

What a big baby! love it! Giant puppy!
What a scaredy-dog! You can tell he's smart, though, with the way he kept trying to manipulate the situation.
I was quite nervous for you there! 😳 He was indeed quite scared!
I had a St-Bernard in my young years. His name was Cesar and he look like mine but a 225 pounds baby and he was a angel.I miss him a lot.😢
God bless you

During the blow dry do you think dogs are ever like, "if you didn't want me wet then WHY DID YOU PUT ME IN THE SHOWER!!??"
My favorite are the cat videos...😂😂
