Generosa was too smart to either do the killing herself or get her lover boy to do it. Yes, Danny is telling the truth that she hired a third person Chris to do the killing. However Danny knew about the plan, covered up for her and married the heiress. He is not innocent and deserves to be in prison. Generosa died and escaped prison. Chris got away.

Generosa may have told him that in order to make Ted look bad and convince Danny to kill Ted or at least help her find someone who would. She wanted a divorce and money and probably didn't want to share custody of the children. Sometimes people stoop to horrible accusations to get what they want.
I'm not saying every accusation is unfounded, or that Ted is 100% innocent because I can't possibly know that, but false accusations happen. For example, comedian and actor Christopher Titus. During his divorce his wife claimed he abused her and the kids and it caused a 2 year investigation and cost him $2 million to defend against it. And she did it because she wanted to hurt him. It's despicable.
Maybe Generosa did that too. We can't know.
