George himself didn't even know what it was. He just added it to make it seem there is more to this universe than we saw. And I think it worked. That single line was the base of an entire phenomenon
blitz gaming I’m 99.99% sure it’s not over, we got robbed of over a season of content, I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney did two-three more 10-12 episode packages and calls them like “lost missions 2” or something, the reason being the fact that Disney cares about money and they need content to plug into Disney+, also people will want more, and they have a lot of content skipped
The ominous music plus the fact that nobody's saying a word is haunting. It's actually kinda depressing. All those years of excitement and adventure are gone. Evil has taken over and all hope is seemingly lost. The characters we once knew and loved are gone. Scattered to the cold winds.
..........okay that just makes this even more depressing but that does fit it cause your right. And to be honest when Ashoka dropped her lightsaber and Vader slowly fading out of the visor just....hurt because your always expecting a big happy ending with where all the characters are now right? Nah mate cause this, is an ending of a life that Anakin will never be able to get back. And the characters? We’re buried in the snow, on a marooned planet, all of there sacrifices. Meaning nothing. And I imagined when Vader picked up his former apprentices lightsaber, he remembered all the good times and adventures he had with her. And now, all he had left is her lightsaber. And when he looked up, I would imagine him silently saying “I’m so sorry snips”
Such a poetic end. He finds Ahsoka's lightsaber near a crash of a Venator, and believes that she died, which makes sense as to why in Rebels he says "The apprentice lives...".

This is how he is normally while alone. Vader carries immense sadness with him at all times. Sometimes, it is overshadowed by anger, but the sadness is always there.
It’s crazy they did this so well because the fact is they didn’t give us any expressions so we the viewers just like most of the movies and sequels can make our own theories and paths they let us chose what he felt

Anakin was back for a moment, holding his padawan's lightsaber that he modified himself for her. Even with the helmet on, you know when Anakin resurfaces during Vader's quiet moments.
Yes, also in Rebels in the fight vs Ahsoka , Anakin comes back. Ive allways saw harder to understand, that that kid, and then that Jedi was in that suit.
Fulcrum. The clone wars is a brilliant show and much better than most of the films in its journey but the things the films did better was show Anakins fall to the dark side. He’s this fragile conflicted boy who becomes disillusioned with the Jedi and has all the stress piled on him, the prophecy, distrust from the council, Slow grooming by palpatine, the fear his wife will die. So it makes sense when he’s tempted with a way to save her. In the clone wars however, Anakins cocky and charming and funny and a bad boy who just gets aggressive sometimes. His personality is so radically different to movie Anakin that it’s harder to imagine him falling to the dark side as easily as he does. Watching Anakin at the start of the final two clone wars episodes, it’s hard to imagine what he’d be at the end of it. Anakin throughout revenge of the sith however, it leads nicely into his downfall
Years later, Vader did not come to that planet for his health, Anakin came to that planet looking for a shred of hope that he could pull himself back from what he had become. And he did not find it.
Are you sure that this scene took place years later? I think it took places a few days at the most, after Vader learnt that "he killed Padme" and that he went to this planet to find Ahsoka as a last resort of comfort, hope and forgiveness.

Ahsoka was literally the remaning light that he had left to him.

Julian Vadillo Sadly, Obi Wan is the reason he lost his limbs, burned and is a cyborg now. Also the reason why he lost Padme (Not true! But Anakin thinks like that; “You turned her against me”) that’s why he’s furious and wants to kill him because he reminds him his failure as a Jedi. I think he is the last one Vader will remember as a friend unfortunately. (Until Anakin’s turn ofc)
The Clone War was one many wanted to forget, and with the creation of the Empire Palptine made that possible. Now all the stories, knowing what’s happening in the coming two trilogies, the good times, the fight for freedom, the broken helmet are just part of an age long forgotten
Most villains are victims of their own making. Just calling them victims diminishes them as a character. The Joker, Green Goblin, Two Face, Vader, The Riddler, General Zodd, The Shredder. Etc. That's what makes them tragedies. Nobody is born evil not even Palpatine. He started out as a college kid with a passion for politics till Darth Plagueis got a hold of him.
The Fourth Chairman I mean there are some things you can argue with him about, as much as I love both the OT and the PT, he has made some, difficult choices.
I realize they couldn't directly contradict the movies, but I almost wish the Clone Wars had done their own version of Anakin's fall ... because it's really difficult to square the film Anakin with, frankly, *either* the Clone Wars Anakin or Vader of the original trilogy. It seemed to me like the Clone Wars, rather than really centering his concern about Padme as the basis for the fall, was centering a growing frustration born out in increasing acts of aggression and a desire for control, some of which was connected to his years a child slave (something pretty glossed over in the film). Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thought it was a more psychology nuanced than the films, where Anakin seemed a bit perpetually petulant.
This is top notch cinematography. We use to get hyped because of Vader’s presence and what’s he going to do or say. No words here, and its terrifying still. You can see that little light that is now Anakin Skywalker behind that mask. This design is also far better/realistic than the Rebels one. This scene feels like the proper version of that “nooooo” scene in episode III. This is it, this is Anakin agonizing

Kato Ho Ten Soeng no, it was still bad. The characters constantly bobbed there head whenever they talked, it was incredibly distracting. It looked like a red vs blue episode with all of that head bobbing .
This is without a doubt now the saddest Star Wars scene. Deep down Anakin stilled cares about his friends, and seeing him take ahsoka’s lightsaber made me almost cry

It’s so fitting that this series ends on a clone helmet. Clone A throwaway line in episode 4 “you fought in the clone wars?” -Luke Skywalker to Obi Wan. That one little throwaway line would plant the seed for some of the greatest Star Wars ever seen, some of the greatest characters, greatest scenes, greatest animation, greatest universe building ever.
That's what I thought. Just a few episodes ago, he was jolly Clone wars anakin. Its easy to picture movie anaskin but so hard to picture clone wars anakin killing younglings or doing anything too sinister. Yes there are elements as shown with trench but I just can't see it.

He looks so much like Anakin. I usually see Vader and Anakin as different characters, and sometimes it's hard for my brain to even comprehend that they're the same person, but here... It's Anakin. This scene is what it took for me to see that
I recommend the novel "Dark Lord: The rise of Darth Vader" (non-cannon but it should). You really see Anakin, betrayed, used, victimising himself, not taking real responsability, hating Sidious, ... And it makes you understand better the SW III. There's a novelization of SW III too in the same vein.

This scene right here is the Conclusion of Anakin - Ahsoka relationship. Cold, twisted, confused, lost. These are the feelings Vader is having and how this is gonna torment him for the rest of his life. Filoni is a true masterpiece
@@OWmyDragonBallz yes, Rebels is a Sequel series to Clone Wars. Ahsoka is reintroduced In that series as an adult. She and Vader face off in the episode I mentioned, which is near the end of the series.
Seeing this scene animated like this, and just gently carried in such a slow manner shows that this IS the Anakin Skywalker we all loved back in the Clone Wars. It breaks my heart & makes me tear up seeing him like this. His life has changed, for the worse. And he knows that there’s no going back now. We love you, Anakin..

then you can feel the only thing that vader allways feel. the story of anakin/ vader is not a good story it´s a sad story overall and besides that a masterpiece of story telling. with that in mind the prequels most fans hated so much and oversee the whole time what is going on, they are true masterpieces. if you can feel the same even a little the story of anakin skywalker becomes much more then just a story from a galaxie far far away. thats the true genius of george lucas story.
I think Filoni and his crew have made a statement on this. Not only rhymes in form of somehow repeating or familiar patterns, no, in this particular case environment and the inner world are in a state of rhyme. The music, the visuals, there is nothing to say anymore. It's mesmerizing.

I just can’t take this scene... no emotions, just looks up and in deep thoughts of who he was.. walks away as he can’t bring anyone back.. it’s so powerful. The theme of this scene suits it well.. I got so emotional..
What’s worse... is that it actually feels like CW Anakin is Vader in this scene. If I had to take a guess, this is one of those few moments where a sliver of Anakin comes out. And on top of all that hatred, he feels loss one last time in his life.

Rebels also had nowhere near the budget Clone Wars did, which is a shame because while rebels could be great at times, it always struggled more visibly against the limitations of its art style.
Rebels didn't even have half the budget TCW has. But despite that, it's still a good looking show. Everyone just unfairly compares it to TCW. Anyone that can look at Rebels and think it is visually bad is an eejit.

@FRED THE THOT SLAYER Probably worst than Hell I think cause all the suffering he endures was caused by him. Not to mention that he could have improved his armor but he willingly keeps it this way both because his pain allows him to tap even further into the DS but also because he feels it's his punishment. The only thing he has left is Sidious. Just to remind you that Darth Vader is not solely badass but also tragic and kind of pathetic (in the sad meaning).
When the camera focus on Jesse's helmet at the end, it symbolises the end of the republic being his helmet has the Republic logo on it and the death of Jesse. Jesse didn't die for the Republic, he died with it
There was no need for Darth Vader to go all the way to some insignificant moon just to find a rusty old lightsaber of some random old Jedi under a pile of rubble and dead clones. ... But Anakin needed to.
What if we made a Star Wars hack-n-slash set entirely in Vader’s mind? Set during the events of Episode VI it would feature Anakin fighting his inner demons to regain his freedom and rejoin the light side. He would come to terms with the atrocities he committed, try to find closure for all that he did wrong, and ultimately fight Darth Vader for full Control of his body and mind.
I used to dream the show would end with “May the Force be with You” as its ending score. False hope, obviously. How could it end any other way? In fact, I could tell you what Vader is thinking right now: “It was all for nothing.”

You can almost see him thinking: "If only I could take it all back." After that only thing he had left was anger. He hated Anakin for what he have done. He hated Obi Wan not because he defeated him. Because he see him as the one who failed him as mentor, father. He hated Obi for not killing him.
Scenes like this one, are why I love the Clone Wars. With absolutely no dialogue, you can just FEEL Vader’s anguish. How haunted he is by the terror he’s unleashed onto the galaxy...and it’s heartbreaking... Thank You Clone Wars, for making my childhood a good one.
This is now my favorite scene of all of star wars, this is why i love star wars. This embodies everything the clone wars was setting up, this scene alone. Its beautiful this scene made me tear,. And gave me chills i cant explain it as there isnt alot on the surface but this scene has so much to tell. Especially if you grew up with the series like i and so many have done.
@@jarrodedson5441 I think part of the problem was there was nothing left for him after the betrayal, nothing except for Palpatine. By the time he realized the folly of his actions he was already Darth Vader and in that suit of his. It wasn't until Luke showed up that he thought there was another way and of course we know what happened after that.
@@AdeptKing Exactly. Anakin became a Sith to protect his wife, have a happy family and bring peace and order to the galaxy. Instead, he just lost everything. Friends, family, wife, even his body. The only thing he gained was power and this power turned him into one of the most monstrous and destructive being the galaxy has ever known. Palpatine was the only thing he had left after all those meaningless sacrifices.

I agree, we had been preparing for this for such a long time, but finally seeing him, seeing Vader, tore me down. The clone wars ended, and it was no good ending. The clone wars was lost, it wasn't a victory for anyone.
Even though we've always known his fate, years and years of watching him be the hero of this show, especially with the development of his relationship with Ahoska, make this inevitable moment hurt so bad
James Ludwig the way he ignited the Lightsaber is indeed reminiscent to Anakin. Whenever Vader ignited his own Lightsaber it was always held with one hand usually by a low ready.
@@venom8598 You misinterpreted his words. This is likely very soon after Anakin was put into the suit, he had not fully transitioned into Darth Vader yet. Anakin wasn't brought back by his memories of Ahsoka. He assumed Ahsoka was dead because of her lightsaber being at the scene of the crash. When he turns it off and accepts that she, the last light in Anakin Skywalker's life, is probably dead, Anakin Skywalker truly disappears.
Honestly, this episode really makes me realize the consequences of Revenge of the Sith. I had watched it so many times that if often went right over my head here. But the tragedy is real here. The happy trio is seperated, one a hermit, one alone in the world as a fugitive and one trapped in the monster he has become. And the feel of that is captured so masterfully in this scene

@@zarulmustaqeem9014 Earlier in the episode Ahsoka and Rex had to escape the ship as the clones were hunting them down due to Order 66. They barely escaped and the ship crash landed on this planet, obviously the whole show had built up to Ahsoka's relationship with the clones so they meant a lot to her, even after they were trying to kill her. After the clones had died with the crash landed ship, Rex and Ahsoka made the effort to bury their remains, Ahsoka pushed to her limit, decided to leave her blue lightsaber behind which was later found by her former master. Anakin. Or now Darth Vader.
Clone Wars uses the aesthetic actually present in the movies and tries to achieve as much realism as they can on a TV budget. Rebels uses the Ralph McQuarrie concept art aesthetic that inspired the Original Trilogy. I love McQuarrie’s art, but it was so jarring to see it used so faithfully in comparison to the films that are actually canon

Well to be honest some people always thought that Vader wasn’t completely committed to his role as a Sith which is why it was easy to turn him good at end of return of the Jedi.
This show came out when I was in elementary school, and even then, despite the mature themes, I LOVED IT. The story, character development, and themes always managed to reach me even if I didn’t fully understand some of the context. Cartoon shows don’t always have to be watered down to bright colors and fart jokes. Cartoon shows can be deep/ meaningful AND still be funny/marketable to kids.

Same man, I just finished it and I just started crying hard, like the tears wouldn't stop. I grew up with these guys since I was 10, now 12 years later it just hurt, that's all I can say, it hurt seeing something you loved finally come to an end. That helmet will always represent to me an end of an era, the end of my youth

John Jason same I started watching the clone wars when I was 5 and now I’m 17... so many fun adventures they had throughout the galaxy and now it’s all over and all the characters we loved are either dead or different from who they once were
i actually loved Vader's design in Rebels, the brow of the helmet made him look more angry which i loved, but this design is so well made, its identical to Rogue One suit design, both are incredible weirdly enough
@@Jr-iw8dw Judging on Vader's armour and lightsaber and the imperial attire this is around the time of Rebels, maybe a year before. At that point, Vader has repressed Anakin so much that not even Ahsoka could reach him, only Luke.
In my opinion, this is the greatest final season of any show ever. Period. Most shows either drag out too long or rush to a conclusion but this is literal perfection. The only thing that comes close is breaking bad or the wire

One-eyed Owl as much as he was consumed to the darkside, i believed he heavily regretted his choices. i mean, anakin literally lost everything. Padme, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, Rex and literally all his friends. there was no way he wouldn’t have regretted that
Fun fact: The Emperor didn't send Vader here, this was his own side mission. Vader wanted something to bring him back to the light, he wanted hope. With Padme dead and Obi Wan (who he hates anyway) gone into hiding, he searched for Ahsoka, his last hope. You can see (when he looks up at the owl and it zooms in on his face) that his eyes fade away, Anakin fades away.
I think that final shot of the clone trooper helmet represents who I believe are the “three” main characters of the series. Anakin (now Darth Vader) walking away is seen in the reflection of the lens, the helmet itself is worn by the clones, and the paint job on the helmet is based on Ahsoka’s face markings
So this is how it ends. The final episode of the clone wars. The war is over and evil roams around the galaxy but that doesn’t mean hope is gone. It’s now time for a rebellion.
what a brilliant ending to the Clone Wars, no big grand finale of hope and joy, just sorrow and loss and it works so well, because at the end of the day that's what the Clone Wars represented, a war where only one man won, a war where everybody but Sidious was used and cast aside for a new darker time, the clones were incredibly loyal to the republic, and sacrificed even their best friends for it (through order 66) without even having a choice, and then were cast aside without remorse, the Jedi went against all their beliefs by entering a war they couldn't win, they became soldiers and tools of politics and only cared about their own self interest and let the Sith infiltrate and destroy them with ease, and even Dooku and the separatists were looking for their own (somewhat twisted) version of a better future and received noting, it really is just the story how war and pride corrupted the universe with only evil prevailing. (and then the story of rebels and the OT being how hope can prevail though that evil and the darker times).

Clone wars is said to be going forward if they keep getting the support I believe personally this clone wars show will be much different from rebels the animation and designs are completely different so they may focus on a story arc of vader searching for ashoka kenobi or maybe even rex
That is incorrect. When Ahsoka and Vader were dueling on Malachor 5, Ahsoka cut open hit helmet where his scar was. You can see that his pupils were wide, seeing Ahsoka since Order 66. That was the last bit of the love for Ahsoka Vader had.
I was not ready for a scene this perfect. I haven’t been so emotionally affected by Star Wars since revenge of the Sith when I was a kid, I’m 23 now and this finale left me feeling some type of way for days. The fact that clone wars starts as a goofy kids show and ends like this.... I was speechless. And this music is life changing. Peak Star Wars right here
I know man, I felt the same way back in 2008, having already lost interest in Star Wars, but this show turned out to handle the lore well and helped pave the way for this series to actually have an EU that included other stories that elevated the series in a way I never thought possible. But despite all that, had I known the series would've ended like this after starting with a movie about saving a baby Hutt...I'm glad I gave Star Wars another chance with the newer stuff, hell even the sequel trilogy was awesome, despite their flaws I do find jarring at the same time
Palm Boy rebels had a lower budget and from what I can tell was trying to copy Ralph McQuarrie concept art for the original trilogy as can be seen with the super thin lightsabers and Vader’s helm just as examples.
whats even sadder is that has they found each other Anakin at this point probably would not have wanted her dead seeing as Anakin at this point was probably an emotional wreck he could have been saved here sadly not in rebels however.
@@rosesweetcharlotte i supposed it would have depended on when and where in the timeline it would take place in if it was right after episode 3 i don't think he would want them killed at least not at first i think he'd probably reveal he was Anakin in an attempt to find out if they knew padme was alive (he didn't believe she was dead at first and if anyone knew she was alive it would be them.) but if it was closer to rebels then nah Anakin is deader and more dried up than the sand he hates.
He tried to kill his mentor. he killed innocent kids. i dunno whether he really is having an emotional moment over Ahsoka. who he later tries to kill anyway.
I love the style change in this scene. All the backgrounds look like they're paintings, similar to some of the backgrounds in the original trilogy. It's a nice way to show that we've left the prequel era.
Maddox Cindy actually the war itself begins in like 4 years from now. The war just shifts from being absolutely dominated by the empire to all the sudden the rebellion becomes much more of a threat all the sudden. What happened? Luke Skywalker. A new hope

Ohhhhh that moment where Vader slowly kneels...damn. That just hit different. The eerie music, the stillness in the air, the sheer silence save for his breathing....no one won here....no one but the emperor. What a way to end.
and thats why palpatine is and always will be the big bad of star wars, and the worst monster in the series. all this war, all this death, all this tragedy, and through it all, palpatine was laughing, knowing hell be the only winner in the end, either way.

I remember i went to the theater to watch episode 3 when i was 6. I still remember the amount of disappointment, the first time i saw the evil win. I knew Darth Vader was Anakin but i didn't know how.
Well the team working on rebels was the same as the team working on clone wars, and they must have known what they were doing, and went with that animation. I personally loved it. One of my favorite shows, appreciate their hard work.

George himself didn't even know what it was. He just added it to make it seem there is more to this universe than we saw. And I think it worked. That single line was the base of an entire phenomenon

The ominous music plus the fact that nobody's saying a word is haunting. It's actually kinda depressing. All those years of excitement and adventure are gone. Evil has taken over and all hope is seemingly lost. The characters we once knew and loved are gone. Scattered to the cold winds.

Nah mate cause this, is an ending of a life that Anakin will never be able to get back. And the characters? We’re buried in the snow, on a marooned planet, all of there sacrifices. Meaning nothing. And I imagined when Vader picked up his former apprentices lightsaber, he remembered all the good times and adventures he had with her. And now, all he had left is her lightsaber. And when he looked up, I would imagine him silently saying “I’m so sorry snips”

In this scene Vader didn't seem wrathful, violent as he normally is. He just seems... Sad.
This is how he is normally while alone. Vader carries immense sadness with him at all times. Sometimes, it is overshadowed by anger, but the sadness is always there.

Fulcrum. The clone wars is a brilliant show and much better than most of the films in its journey but the things the films did better was show Anakins fall to the dark side. He’s this fragile conflicted boy who becomes disillusioned with the Jedi and has all the stress piled on him, the prophecy, distrust from the council,
Slow grooming by palpatine, the fear his wife will die. So it makes sense when he’s tempted with a way to save her. In the clone wars however, Anakins cocky and charming and funny and a bad boy who just gets aggressive sometimes. His personality is so radically different to movie Anakin that it’s harder to imagine him falling to the dark side as easily as he does. Watching Anakin at the start of the final two clone wars episodes, it’s hard to imagine what he’d be at the end of it. Anakin throughout revenge of the sith however, it leads nicely into his downfall

Years later, Vader did not come to that planet for his health, Anakin came to that planet looking for a shred of hope that he could pull himself back from what he had become. And he did not find it.
Are you sure that this scene took place years later? I think it took places a few days at the most, after Vader learnt that "he killed Padme" and that he went to this planet to find Ahsoka as a last resort of comfort, hope and forgiveness.
Penny it was confirmed by Filoni to be a few years later.

The Clone War was one many wanted to forget, and with the creation of the Empire Palptine made that possible. Now all the stories, knowing what’s happening in the coming two trilogies, the good times, the fight for freedom, the broken helmet are just part of an age long forgotten
And the reflection of Vader walking away from that past, and forward into the age of the Empire. The symbolism in this scene is just top notch.
It is amazing how the galaxy looked so colourful with the Republic, in contrast with the Empire's sadness

I realize they couldn't directly contradict the movies, but I almost wish the Clone Wars had done their own version of Anakin's fall ... because it's really difficult to square the film Anakin with, frankly, *either* the Clone Wars Anakin or Vader of the original trilogy.
It seemed to me like the Clone Wars, rather than really centering his concern about Padme as the basis for the fall, was centering a growing frustration born out in increasing acts of aggression and a desire for control, some of which was connected to his years a child slave (something pretty glossed over in the film). Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I thought it was a more psychology nuanced than the films, where Anakin seemed a bit perpetually petulant.
This is top notch cinematography. We use to get hyped because of Vader’s presence and what’s he going to do or say. No words here, and its terrifying still. You can see that little light that is now Anakin Skywalker behind that mask. This design is also far better/realistic than the Rebels one. This scene feels like the proper version of that “nooooo” scene in episode III. This is it, this is Anakin agonizing

I recommend the novel "Dark Lord: The rise of Darth Vader" (non-cannon but it should). You really see Anakin, betrayed, used, victimising himself, not taking real responsability, hating Sidious, ... And it makes you understand better the SW III. There's a novelization of SW III too in the same vein.
Seeing imperial troopers and equipment in the Clone Wars really adds to the idea that it's over

The broken clone helmet half-buried in the snow is perhaps the strongest symbol that the war is not just over... but it was pointless all along.

the story of anakin/ vader is not a good story it´s a sad story overall and besides that a masterpiece of story telling.
with that in mind the prequels most fans hated so much and oversee the whole time what is going on, they are true masterpieces. if you can feel the same even a little the story of anakin skywalker becomes much more then just a story from a galaxie far far away.

I think Filoni and his crew have made a statement on this. Not only rhymes in form of somehow repeating or familiar patterns, no, in this particular case environment and the inner world are in a state of rhyme. The music, the visuals, there is nothing to say anymore. It's mesmerizing.

What’s worse... is that it actually feels like CW Anakin is Vader in this scene. If I had to take a guess, this is one of those few moments where a sliver of Anakin comes out. And on top of all that hatred, he feels loss one last time in his life.

wow that scene is so powerful, no dialogue, no facial expressions, just a man trapped in a life of endless torture realizing his mistakes and knowing that he'd never truly be able to atone for them...his light extinguished, and in turn consuming the light of the galaxy...until that light is once again lit 17 years later

Rebels also had nowhere near the budget Clone Wars did, which is a shame because while rebels could be great at times, it always struggled more visibly against the limitations of its art style.

What if we made a Star Wars hack-n-slash set entirely in Vader’s mind? Set during the events of Episode VI it would feature Anakin fighting his inner demons to regain his freedom and rejoin the light side.
He would come to terms with the atrocities he committed, try to find closure for all that he did wrong, and ultimately fight Darth Vader for full Control of his body and mind.

You can almost see him thinking: "If only I could take it all back." After that only thing he had left was anger. He hated Anakin for what he have done. He hated Obi Wan not because he defeated him. Because he see him as the one who failed him as mentor, father. He hated Obi for not killing him.

This is now my favorite scene of all of star wars, this is why i love star wars. This embodies everything the clone wars was setting up, this scene alone. Its beautiful this scene made me tear,. And gave me chills i cant explain it as there isnt alot on the surface but this scene has so much to tell. Especially if you grew up with the series like i and so many have done.

By the time he realized the folly of his actions he was already Darth Vader and in that suit of his. It wasn't until Luke showed up that he thought there was another way and of course we know what happened after that.

@@AdeptKing Exactly. Anakin became a Sith to protect his wife, have a happy family and bring peace and order to the galaxy. Instead, he just lost everything. Friends, family, wife, even his body. The only thing he gained was power and this power turned him into one of the most monstrous and destructive being the galaxy has ever known. Palpatine was the only thing he had left after all those meaningless sacrifices.

I agree, we had been preparing for this for such a long time, but finally seeing him, seeing Vader, tore me down. The clone wars ended, and it was no good ending. The clone wars was lost, it wasn't a victory for anyone.

James Ludwig the way he ignited the Lightsaber is indeed reminiscent to Anakin. Whenever Vader ignited his own Lightsaber it was always held with one hand usually by a low ready.
@@venom8598 You misinterpreted his words. This is likely very soon after Anakin was put into the suit, he had not fully transitioned into Darth Vader yet. Anakin wasn't brought back by his memories of Ahsoka. He assumed Ahsoka was dead because of her lightsaber being at the scene of the crash. When he turns it off and accepts that she, the last light in Anakin Skywalker's life, is probably dead, Anakin Skywalker truly disappears.
Honestly, this episode really makes me realize the consequences of Revenge of the Sith.
I had watched it so many times that if often went right over my head here. But the tragedy is real here. The happy trio is seperated, one a hermit, one alone in the world as a fugitive and one trapped in the monster he has become. And the feel of that is captured so masterfully in this scene

They barely escaped and the ship crash landed on this planet, obviously the whole show had built up to Ahsoka's relationship with the clones so they meant a lot to her, even after they were trying to kill her. After the clones had died with the crash landed ship, Rex and Ahsoka made the effort to bury their remains, Ahsoka pushed to her limit, decided to leave her blue lightsaber behind which was later found by her former master. Anakin. Or now Darth Vader.
Man, I can't believe the Clone Wars is genuinely over now. Dave Filoni is a Legend. He is the Chosen One.

Clone Wars uses the aesthetic actually present in the movies and tries to achieve as much realism as they can on a TV budget. Rebels uses the Ralph McQuarrie concept art aesthetic that inspired the Original Trilogy. I love McQuarrie’s art, but it was so jarring to see it used so faithfully in comparison to the films that are actually canon

This show came out when I was in elementary school, and even then, despite the mature themes, I LOVED IT. The story, character development, and themes always managed to reach me even if I didn’t fully understand some of the context. Cartoon shows don’t always have to be watered down to bright colors and fart jokes. Cartoon shows can be deep/ meaningful AND still be funny/marketable to kids.
Despite everything, Anakin can't completely cut off his ties to his loved ones.
Thats what made him a weak sith lord, never fully commited to the sith nor the jedi, that was his failing.

Fun fact: The Emperor didn't send Vader here, this was his own side mission. Vader wanted something to bring him back to the light, he wanted hope. With Padme dead and Obi Wan (who he hates anyway) gone into hiding, he searched for Ahsoka, his last hope. You can see (when he looks up at the owl and it zooms in on his face) that his eyes fade away, Anakin fades away.

I think that final shot of the clone trooper helmet represents who I believe are the “three” main characters of the series. Anakin (now Darth Vader) walking away is seen in the reflection of the lens, the helmet itself is worn by the clones, and the paint job on the helmet is based on Ahsoka’s face markings
I thought Master Kenobi of the High Ground was another main character.

what a brilliant ending to the Clone Wars, no big grand finale of hope and joy, just sorrow and loss and it works so well, because at the end of the day that's what the Clone Wars represented, a war where only one man won, a war where everybody but Sidious was used and cast aside for a new darker time, the clones were incredibly loyal to the republic, and sacrificed even their best friends for it (through order 66) without even having a choice, and then were cast aside without remorse, the Jedi went against all their beliefs by entering a war they couldn't win, they became soldiers and tools of politics and only cared about their own self interest and let the Sith infiltrate and destroy them with ease, and even Dooku and the separatists were looking for their own (somewhat twisted) version of a better future and received noting, it really is just the story how war and pride corrupted the universe with only evil prevailing. (and then the story of rebels and the OT being how hope can prevail though that evil and the darker times).

Clone wars is said to be going forward if they keep getting the support I believe personally this clone wars show will be much different from rebels the animation and designs are completely different so they may focus on a story arc of vader searching for ashoka kenobi or maybe even rex

That is incorrect. When Ahsoka and Vader were dueling on Malachor 5, Ahsoka cut open hit helmet where his scar was. You can see that his pupils were wide, seeing Ahsoka since Order 66. That was the last bit of the love for Ahsoka Vader had.

I was not ready for a scene this perfect. I haven’t been so emotionally affected by Star Wars since revenge of the Sith when I was a kid, I’m 23 now and this finale left me feeling some type of way for days. The fact that clone wars starts as a goofy kids show and ends like this.... I was speechless. And this music is life changing. Peak Star Wars right here
I know man, I felt the same way back in 2008, having already lost interest in Star Wars, but this show turned out to handle the lore well and helped pave the way for this series to actually have an EU that included other stories that elevated the series in a way I never thought possible. But despite all that, had I known the series would've ended like this after starting with a movie about saving a baby Hutt...I'm glad I gave Star Wars another chance with the newer stuff, hell even the sequel trilogy was awesome, despite their flaws I do find jarring at the same time

Thomas Drew Ahsoka design was better in rebels
Palm Boy rebels had a lower budget and from what I can tell was trying to copy Ralph McQuarrie concept art for the original trilogy as can be seen with the super thin lightsabers and Vader’s helm just as examples.
He actually went looking for Ahsoka, I’m even more sad now

whats even sadder is that has they found each other Anakin at this point probably would not have wanted her dead seeing as Anakin at this point was probably an emotional wreck he could have been saved here sadly not in rebels however.
David Mobeck at this point he still had a lot of light left in him, they had a warm departure.
@@michaelkean5969 I think had he found either Rex or Ahsoka, he would have killed them. At least taken them in for questioning and torture.

if it was right after episode 3 i don't think he would want them killed at least not at first i think he'd probably reveal he was Anakin in an attempt to find out if they knew padme was alive (he didn't believe she was dead at first and if anyone knew she was alive it would be them.) but if it was closer to rebels then nah Anakin is deader and more dried up than the sand he hates.

I love the style change in this scene. All the backgrounds look like they're paintings, similar to some of the backgrounds in the original trilogy. It's a nice way to show that we've left the prequel era.

Maddox Cindy actually the war itself begins in like 4 years from now. The war just shifts from being absolutely dominated by the empire to all the sudden the rebellion becomes much more of a threat all the sudden. What happened? Luke Skywalker. A new hope

Arturo Games Didn't Chewbacca, C-3PO, Yoda and R2-D2 already count? I mean they debuted in the original trilogy and appeared in CW.
Yes, I know Yoda had a bigger role in the PT but he still debuted in the OT.

Ohhhhh that moment where Vader slowly kneels...damn. That just hit different. The eerie music, the stillness in the air, the sheer silence save for his breathing....no one won here....no one but the emperor. What a way to end.
and thats why palpatine is and always will be the big bad of star wars, and the worst monster in the series.
all this war, all this death, all this tragedy, and through it all, palpatine was laughing, knowing hell be the only winner in the end, either way.
Not just that, but the way he gently brushed the snow off the lightsaber and igniting it. It helps show the light that is still there in him.
@@LeeEverett1 that's what got me-how gently he held the saber, the way it was done with such reverence....this was the last moment we'd see of Anakin Skywalker for a good while....he was always there but for a long time he'd be as buried as Ahsoka's squad...damn.

I remember i went to the theater to watch episode 3 when i was 6. I still remember the amount of disappointment, the first time i saw the evil win. I knew Darth Vader was Anakin but i didn't know how.

Well the team working on rebels was the same as the team working on clone wars, and they must have known what they were doing, and went with that animation. I personally loved it. One of my favorite shows, appreciate their hard work.
Too expensive. TCW has that Disney plus budget. These last few episodes will go down in history for how good they looked
