      My favorite thing about his speeches is that he always engaged the audience with a false sense of scarcity by saying “what do I have 5 minutes left?” At least 15 minutes before he’s done

    Ultimately it comes down to the Peter principle. People tend to rise to the level of their incompetence. Most senior people are in jobs they are not cut out for. Hence all the stupid decisions

    Exactly spot on about the JL shop. Retail is my area and you need to know the detail of the individual store to make any sense of any accumulated data

    One solution for all this is to sack everyone from middle to top management and CEOs, saving trillions for everyone and lot of time and frustration for the people actually working, and let the teams self regulate

    Great talk as always by Rory! I am interested in the books he puts in a plug for at 30:25. I have read Alchemy and Transport for humans. Can anyone tell me the names of the other two books (IDEAS and BETTER are visible but not the full titles). Thank you!

    18:10 nobody wants to buy a car with no cupholders in a country where culturally, it's normal to drive 4+ hours... Hydration is a basic human need. Those German engineers and design execs just haven't understood how big the US is.
