My favorite thing about his speeches is that he always engaged the audience with a false sense of scarcity by saying “what do I have 5 minutes left?” At least 15 minutes before he’s done
Thinking backwards like Ludwig! Curiosity, thinking differently should be in every institute and business DNA. A fast track, obstacle course for problem ideation, probable possible and team building. Loved your talk and intelligence - thank you
Ultimately it comes down to the Peter principle. People tend to rise to the level of their incompetence. Most senior people are in jobs they are not cut out for. Hence all the stupid decisions
One solution for all this is to sack everyone from middle to top management and CEOs, saving trillions for everyone and lot of time and frustration for the people actually working, and let the teams self regulate
Great talk as always by Rory! I am interested in the books he puts in a plug for at 30:25. I have read Alchemy and Transport for humans. Can anyone tell me the names of the other two books (IDEAS and BETTER are visible but not the full titles). Thank you!
18:10 nobody wants to buy a car with no cupholders in a country where culturally, it's normal to drive 4+ hours... Hydration is a basic human need. Those German engineers and design execs just haven't understood how big the US is.
You do reaslise that We, the herd of animals you are attempting to control, are watching you, right? And WE might not Want to be 'Nudged' by corporate forces. In fact, we both resent and reject your attempts, and, further, given the opportunity would happily defenestrate the lot of you...
You remind me of a cartoon of Moses parting the Red Sea and leading the Israelites through. Just as they are on the other side of the river, Moses is asks one of them incredulously "What do you mean it's too muddy?"
Do you want to solve problems? or Do you want to win arguments? This phrase can live rent-free on my memory.
Great for relationships too…
As always, Rory hit it out of the park.
Rory my old mucka! You are the oracle for small business owners everywhere.
What a brilliant speaker, highly entertaining but most importantly challenges your thinking about...well everything
For every word you do not know look it up for listening enhanced pleasure--Like great classical music, Rory makes me smile😊
Why do they time Mr. Sutherland? Just let him go lol. It will be worth it!
100%
I totally agree. Let him off the lead, and just let him go. He's fantastic to listen to.

Rory Sutherland has become a pet-topic of mine lately... incredible insights!!
Same - that itself is marketing

Wow that mobile phone notice could really work in Cinemas lol
Legendary... thank you Rory 😊
Exactly spot on about the JL shop. Retail is my area and you need to know the detail of the individual store to make any sense of any accumulated data
amazing talk

I've solved your solar problem - it's actually a lot of fun.
Roaring Rory !
Great stuff
This man is pretty ace, but God damn if the intro "music" doesn't make me want to start a fire in my own house.
Rory, OK, love the insight, the content, OK, the "blue sky thinking" OK, but for fs, OK, stop saying OK every third word . OK
It's like people need, like a word for when they are, like, trying to think of how they want to, like, finish their sentence.

'Evolutionary Ideas' by Sam Tatam. And 'Change for Better' by Madeline Croucher :)

Hydration looks after itself. Drinking.before you get thirsty is dangerous

What is the similarity between high management and mushrooms?
Both are kept in the dark and being fed by horsesh*t...
So basically...things won't get better anytime soon?

Rory is interesting, but he doesn't half talk crap sometimes like his suggestion of running a house off an electric truck!

What do we think about winning an argument by lying eg Brexit?
The same reason the remain campaign lied that the economy would collapse, financial services would leave and there would be a spread of super STIs.

How many times can he say, "OK?" ? It spoils an otherwise fine talk. It's a shame.
