The Historical Society of Bensalem has the missing dioramas. The mall is in Bensalem; there's no town named Neshaminy (just a creek and a school district).
Ok
I worked at Sears as a teenager, and then Neshaminy Mall and the roof of Sears is the highest point for miles around when you go up there at night you can see the city and 60 miles all around
On the positive, places like Bristol Borough are on uprise/return. That place is done up like a Christmas card, and if that ain't good enough for you, you can take a trip up to Jim Thorpe
Yes, it is in Bensalem Township there actually is no Neshaminy Township it’s a school district
I live up the road from the Neshaminy Mall. I’m sure you noticed all the construction going on around the mall which is adding insult to injury. The mall certainly appears to be dying however where Strawbridge’s was, new stores, a gym, bowling alley and restaurant are going in there so hopefully that will pump much needed life back into it. PS. I’m a North Catholic Grad!
And they're building upscale apartments at the Oxford Valley Mall. I never saw myself living at the mall but I'm intrigued by the idea of it now. I'm temporarily living in the metro-Charlotte, NC, area but my fiancée is getting the information about those apartments at Oxford Valley together.
So am I. 1984
There is literally like three startbucks in the Roosevelt mall area. You have one in Macy's, one in target and one across the street from the mall. How many Starbucks do you need. There coffee ls overpriced.
The Neshaminy Mall is, in fact, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania
I worked at Arby's there in the early 90s. Place was buzzing back then.
Was at Neshaminy Mall back in August, it is sad what's happened. Went there a lot in the 80s , 90s and early 2000s and the place was hopping. So sad what has become of it.
Yep. I remember being in school and neshaminy mall was packed every weekend in the 2000’s.
There is a good reason that so many more stores in the Roosevelt Mall. It's because it's walkable and in the middle of concentrated neighborhoods. Nobody walks to the Neshaminy Mall.
They are both dying malls between high rents high crime etc I grew up going to both they used to be vibrant bustling fun places to shop now they are empty shells of their former selves all phone places and inner city type businesses hair and nail salons and hip hop clothing companies stuff that many people don’t give a shit about I miss models neshaminy coin shop sears and many other stores like strawbridges the record places
Roosevelt isn’t dead.
@@ThePhillyCaptain no it’s dying there may be stores but not really anything to shop at except maybe macys and Ross unless you need phones or vapes
It has over 90% occupancy. It’s doesn’t matter what the stores are it’s not dead
@@ThePhillyCaptain I’m just saying when Roosevelt had k b toys modells the record store and other more choices better quality stores it was a more crowded and vibrant mall I just go to Walmart target or order online because it’s doesn’t interest me enough or have choice enough to support it everyone has their own opinion that was mine I only shop at Ross occasionally but everything else is not worth going there for anything
I remember when both malls had events to bring people there if there wasn’t anything to go there for even neshaminy might go once or twice a year to go to Boscovs but other then ha not worth the gas or the time
*SO* many childhood memories at Neshaminy Mall...
Kids today dont hang out in the mall...they go online and become fat incels that cant talk to humans in real life. The funny thing was in the 80s the mall cops would give us a hard time...now they are begging for mall rats to come back. It was our facebook in real life. They should build skate parks and have things like laser tag rock concerts/rap battles and whatever to get the shared experience. Parents should be like ...you are going to the mall ...walk around and talk to other kids! I would also give movie passes to kids in the area and free popcorn and hang-out areas for them. bring back the malls! in the dead of winter a city under glass...it was so great... they should have king of the Rats gift certificate, to the mall rats who get voted in by the other rats...hahaha OVM was the best mall for the wildest rats
Hung out at Neshaminy and Roosevelt Malls in the 70's and 80's. Had lots of fun meeting girls there. All the construction going on around Nesh Mall is helping kill it.
Roosevelt Mall had: Marlo Book store, Herman's, Sam Goody, Wall Of Sound, Spain's, KB Toys, Allied Hobbies, The Galaxy arcade, Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips and a great pizza restaurant near John Wanamaker's (now Macy's).
Nesh Mall had: 2 pet shops, 3 book stores, 3-4 different shoe stores, Neshaminy Stamp and Coin shop, Woolworth's, Sears, Strawbridge and Clothier, a really fun arcade called the "Space Port". The AMC open in 1996. Once the Macy's pulled out in 2016 it was game over.
Ahhh, the good old days of my youth... long gone.
Before it was Space Port it was the "Electric Eye" across from the the Pampered Pup (hot dog place) and the Premiere Theater. Remember "Docktor's Pet Center" across from Wall-to-Wall Sound (formerly Franklin Music) near Sears? They always had puppies in the front window.
@@themagus5906 Yes! "Pampered Pup" - what a goofy name. When Docktor's closed and they extended the Barnes and Noble into that area. I remember the "Electric Eye" arcade, but I was a bit too young to go in there by myself. The name was changed to "Space Port" right around the time Star Wars came out... that's really when I started hanging out there looking for quarters that had dropped under the games, I found a lot of money on the floor in that place. I did the same thing at "The Galaxy" arcade in the Roosevelt Mall. The owner would chase us out of there when he saw us doing that.
They are at the Bensalem Bucks County, visiting center in front of the casino, and once they finally get rid of that store and someone purchases it, they’re taking the rest of them out and putting them there as well
Was in the Neshaminy last week... Took the dog to get her picture with Santa. Saying it's in sad shape is an overstatement. But I think Boscov's, Barns and Noble and the theater a long with a couple cool nitch stores will keep it on life support for a couple more years.
Hey captain speaking of dead malls across the street from Neshaminy Mall where the DMV is sitting is locally known as Poltergeist Plaza. Because they had to move unmarked graves from another cemetery in Philly to build it.
DDH and I dated at Neshaminy Mall back in the day (50 + yrs ago), I loved going into the pet store and he liked Sears. Nothing there now but memories and the Indian statue. Took daughters as tots to Build a Bear and your right about their Santa was the best in the area. It was so crowded and noisy but we loved the excitement. Thank you, Captain
The Santa you were talking about has retired. He was from Minnesota, and would spend Thanksgiving thru Christmas eve at Neshaminy Mall. The only day you could get pictures of him in his red suit was Christmas eve. Our girls had pictures with him from the time they were 2 months old until he retired. Best santa (helper!!!!) ever. Thanks for putting a smile on my face!!!!
Hey PHILLY CAPTAIN, great video at Neshaminy and Roosevelt Mall..Enjoy on & TOODLES...
As a kid I remember the Indian totem pole up the hill from the US 1 expressway, saw that every time we go by. Shame it was knocked down. Nesh can be revived, but it would take building the Roosevelt Subway all the way up the Blvd and terminate it at the mall. With so many major roads in the vicinity, a decent park-and-ride should be built on the sears side of the mall lot (likely as a parking garage tied into the station, tied into the mall, and fed by ramps over Rockhill Road (no need to further tie up that road).
Yeah; I remember that totem pole as well, as it was an Indian-themed mall back when it was built (1968). In the seventies I used to "park" with my girlfriends at the back corner of the Sears lot overlooking the valley. Back then it was like looking over Griffith Park in LA. They used to have a helicopter landing area there as well, where Santa would arrive for Xmas. Long gone now.
DO MORE DEAD MALL CHALLENGES 🙏🙏😍
My first job was the snack bar at Woolworths in Neshaminy mall , in the center of the mall back in the olden days😂. I worked there for a year. I have a picture somewhere of my brother and I at the concrete fountain that used to be in front of Sears, which was taken out when I was still a child. I remember the Neshaminy Indian statue very well.
I love these series of videos, great work!!!!
Sad to see malls like this 😢. Hay Philly Captain, could you please do a walk through the Berlin farmers market, AKA the auction. It's in South Jersey.
Captain- If you do go to the mart, it’s just a short ride to “Mighty Joes” in Shamong. You’ll pass the recently closed Atco Dragway if you do!
Also- the most “dead” mall is at Voorhees Town Center/Echelon Mall. There’s a Boscovs and I think a Bath and Body Works. Met my wife working at Boscovs I. The early ‘90s. The mall was hopping then. Even expanded with a new Sears store. Half the mall was torn down and it’s still empty. I don’t know how it stays open.
Neshaminy mall was the the first mall in my life, spy hunter in the arcade and then Walden books for skate mags.
There were 2 book stores... what was the name of the other one?
11:48 LOL what do they sell at J.D.? Uhhh, I dunno, like whatever ........
OVM is where they shot Clean and Sober with Micheal Keaton.....it was magical in its day.....
I was told that Bensalem Historical Society took possession of the dioramas that used to be in front of Stawbridges.

4:53 ,that is Holister from California it's actually part of Abrocrombie & Fitch ,same owners ,many Abrocrombie & Fitch stores became Holister locations before they closed ... both chains are still around, but limited locations
I think it was Hollister. I read the Moorestown Mall isn’t doing that well for Priete which owns both Moorestown and Cherry Hill Malls.
It is in Bensalem, Neshaminy has a mall and high school but not an actual “town” or address.
This was my true first Mall. Parents used to take us here a lot. Used to hit Sears for their Tough Skins jeans and the t shirts with numbers on it lol
So sad to see malls a thing of the past! They used to be the place to be, The only thriving one left seems to be King of Prussia mall but i agree with you Captain the traffic is crazy but i usually try to park in the Nordstrom’s parking lot. It’s not to bad getting in and out there. but i don’t go very often.
King of Prussia is a tourist attraction. East Coast Mall of America
We came to NESHAMINY to visit Santa here too when our kids were small in the middle 80s. The mall was a boom town then, crowded all the time. I think the fence around the Santa area was the same one in the 80s.
Used to work at smart toys and got
Topic years ago sad to see what happened to it
Have you done the Plymouth Meeting mall?
The Roosevelt Mall was the best back in the 1980s. My friend and I would park our cars, I had a 1957 Chevey and my friend had a 1969 white GTO convertible and would pop our hoods and hang out every Friday and Saturday night. So many people would talk to us and eventluly over time the Mall became a massive Car show. The peak was about 5 years later 1986 or 87. It was so crowded with cars cruising thru the Mall they built a mini Police Station trailer. The Police would have to block the flow of cars out onto Cottman ave. Plus the Carnival was the best. They had two stages built and had bands play. The Ozzy Cover band was the best. The band Kix played on the stage next to Sam Goody's.
I saw the Monkeys there.
My band also played on that stage... I think it was 1989.
So sad, 19 days till Christmas and that place is dead.
This makes me want to go to the mall, no crowds.
Thrse are some of your best videos. Thanks and Happy Holidays.
So, that AMC, it’s nice? I am in Florida and ours is a shit hole👎🏻 It’s dirty, bathrooms are nasty. It’s way too big for the amount of people that go. It was nice 20 years ago.
It's nice because hardly anyone goes there anymore. Also movies today mostly suck. Too much woke BS.
you sound a bit like Gilbert Gottfried
I know
Thank you!
Yep. Worked flipping cheesesteaks at the RM with some great people in the early 80s. Went every day to AC to get the rolls. People said we were way overpriced charging $6.00
9:30 looks like crickets 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗 for the cricket
Yo Cap: I believe those awnings are from . . . Banana Republic? Thanks for the content. Indoor malls all across the country are dying as the outdoor ‘village concept’ has taken over. They’ll be busy once it starts snowing. 😬
Our daughter heard that after this year there's a chance the mall is going to close but Boscovs will stay where it's at.
My wife grew up the road from the mall and her father took 8mm movies of the mall when it was a cow pasture dairy farm. My father n law was also a surveyor and was one of the men who helped survey the land before the mall was built.
Wow they no longer even have the Chic-fil-A. I was there 2 years ago for a movie. It’s depressing 😂
If it is depressing then why use a laughing (😂) emoji?
Closed January of 2023.
So sad. Even worst this year, who’s got money and the prices are crazy. I’m looking to sell my plasma 😬
That's a real shame! I grew up around the corner from that mall and worked in several of the stores.
Yes, jd sports is big in the uk. It can be expensive. Its competition is sports direct. Great video Captain. 🇬🇧 🎄☃️
Don't forget Artifax on Cottman since 1976!
They are looking better than the Montgomery Mall. I wonder how much busier it would be on a Saturday or Sunday?
Technically, those are miniature Eiffel Towers.
The malls lost their balls
There was an off track betting palor owned by Philadelphia Park at one end of the mall.
Neshaminy Mall Diorama Finds Home at Bensalem Township Municipal Building. 1960's era Picturesque diorama artwork depicting Bucks County Colonial Life and the American Revolutionary Saga has found a home at the Bensalem Township Building Lobby! Mar 19, 2021

It would be cool if there were pictures of the Roosevelt mall from back in the 90s somewhere you could look at
Back when Way Out was near Coconuts
Was Roosevelt Mall always an outdoor Mall, with no inside corridor?
Yes
capt, come do the exton mall!!!
Neshaminy really did have the best Santa. I remember taking my duds there 20+ years ago and having to wait 2 hours in line because he was so popular. Eventually they started handing out beepers so you could at least grab a bite to eat at Friendly’s or wherever. Then they got a new Santa 😔. Nothing against the new Santa but he just wasn’t the same and honestly there was really nobody who could replace the Santa they had.
The King of Prussia mall should be checked out. They seem to be a bit more successful.
It’s extremely successful. I hate the traffic around that mall. I avoid it at all costs
the people want the KoP mall, Captain!
@@ThePhillyCaptain richer area better stores better demographics
Not ghetto like neshaminy or Roosevelt malls
I made a video at the King of Prussia mall a few years ago. I don’t care about demographics I care about traffic.
Here we areeee
Rip to Ralph cirella
Ralph ….we speak your name
Lol yep. Hey now!
Neshaminy Mall Is a joke, had phone screen replaced few weeks back at that kiosk at food court and sold me a non genuine screen and Face ID stopped working. Went back and refused any expectance or repair. Like …. “What are we doin”?
That’s not Neshaminy Malls fault.
Jimmy Buffett place you called that place used to be Hollister there's one open at the Oxford Valley Mall
I used to live near Oxford Valley Mall in Levittown. Moved to Southern California in the Summer of 1977. Should have never left. Our Governor sucks, the prices are probably the highest in the nation, and the people here are pathetic. Wish I could afford to come back there. I had many good times.
@@miked.1950 Seems like a SoCal - PA move would be cheap as opposed to vice-versa.
@@spamlessaccount True, but I am a senior citizen living off of social security in a mobile home. I would never be approved for a mortgage, with todays' interest, no matter where I wanted to live.

Oxford Valley Mall was the best
I was at LensCrafters last week. Oxford Valley is a ghost town.
