Up until our move to Florida, I lived most of my life near the Neshaminy Mall. In the early 1970's, my grandparents would take us for lunch in the restaurant up on the 2nd floor of the Strawbridges, and I loved it when we could sit by the railing overlooking the mall court. My favorite store as a kid was the Magic Cube Kiosk. I would beg my parents to buy me a novelty or magic trick, a. few which I still have packed away in my closet. Great memories.
Maybe you saw me there too. I ate at the restaurant many times with my Grandmother in the early 70's. Loved looking out over the water fountain. Once I made a paper airplane out of the place mat and sailed it off the railing... it hit someone right in the head!
I was there every week in the late 70’s and 80’s Germantown savings Sam goody fluff and stuff Sears and Strawbridges were awesome the radio shack near pomeroys now boscovs bought my first stereo receiver at that radio shack in 76’ Sam Goodys records and tapes etc technology has changed oh Woolworth’s was great too miss that mall my favorite of all malls. Amazon and Walmart and eBay took over.
If I own the mall, maybe renovate it to make it a balance of the 70s with modern features, keep the “fountain statue”, and transform it into a lifestyle center, while making it affordable for business to move in. But if we must demolish it, I would salvage that statue fountain figure.
I live up the street from the Neshaminy Mall. It’s heartbreaking. The pandemic and all the construction on Business Rte 1 and Rockhill Drive put the final nail in the malls coffin. The food court is pitiful. Chick-fil-A closed last year which made no sense. It was always busy. The Adriatic Pizza tripled their prices. Amazon, QVC and HSN crushed malls out of existence.
The small village mall in horsham turned just box stores but survived. I see some malls putting half apartments on the lot. That could work if the rent is reasonable.
If Boscov's were to close some of its stores, that would be the final nail in the coffins of many malls in this area. 1:20 there used to be that logo in the wall of the former Strawbridge's at the Plymouth Meeting Mall; it didn't survive the remodelling (into smaller stores) of that section of the mall.
This was the mall of my childhood when I was very small kid🧸🐻👶! Back in the day, I can so remember a Kay Bee Toy 💜💜and Hobby Shop and the Fluff and Stuff store🐨🐨 that sold Smurfs💙💙 and Hello Kitty paraphernalia❤️❤️!!! I also remember eating at the old Strawbridge & Clothier as a child with my now Late Grandparents, my Mom, and my Brother on the balcony. It is so 🖤😢sad that so many malls are going under😢🖤. They say in Europe that the Malls are busy and thriving, despite shopping online because they're near good public transportation areas. However, I think the reason why many Malls are dying in America is because unlike European workers who get a vacation of 6 to 8 weeks a year, American workers are lucky to get one week a year vacation. People in America are overworked and exhausted and have children to take care of, so it is just easier for them to shop online. I wish American Employers would give American workers 6 to 8 weeks off, then they could spend time with their families and go to the Mall both for exercise in the colder weather, to shop, and just to enjoy each other's company!!! I so miss what America was like in the 1980s😢😢🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤.
Turn it into a mix use condo village community, make a pedestrian and bike train to the west trenton line, and run shuttles to the West Trenton train and the Trenton Transit for NYC commuters
I remember a little over a year ago I saw 5 or 6 Amazon vehicles parked near Sears. I also noticed a couple of new trash cans nearby. I think Amazon was doing some sort of mobile sorting there. I don't think they are there now Has anyone seen that?
Hey Captain! Ever check out Tyler State Park and the campus of the Bucks County Community College? Beautiful place with history linked to Philadelphia. I wouldn't go this time of year, though. Spring or Fall
im so sick of seeing gyms everywhere taking up all our space where we could have some cool stores. If people want exercise go walk around the block or clean your houses!
I was here yesterday! I couldn’t believe it was so dead there!
I was there visiting the Bridge church!

Great video thanks the Boscovs was a Lit Brothers first when they added the south portion of the mall used to be Sears to Strawbridges only

I used to hang out with friends at this mall during high school, I’m so sad to see how it looks now. It’s nearly desolate.

I'll pay $1 for the mall
The malls and suburbs killed downtowns
I have fond memories here with my grandfather. I remember we always went to the movies at the AMC at this location. It was always packed.
The small village mall in horsham turned just box stores but survived. I see some malls putting half apartments on the lot. That could work if the rent is reasonable.
An efficiency apartment at the Oxford Valley Mall is practically $2000/month.
Thanks for the video
last time i went here there was still a chick fil a and the fye had just started closing but it was still creepy lol
It’s so depressing in there now.
Bring back "Space Port"!
And the Pampered Pup!
We used to take the bus up there from bridge and pratt just to hang out at that mall. So sad now
Neshaminy was a happening mall when I lived in Levittown. Moved to the West Coast in the Summer of '77. Thanks for the vid Captain.
There used to be a WoolWorth in that mall, I remember buying Star Fox for Super Nintendo there

Make it into condos with shopping you never have to leave
Across from the mall is La Hacienda Mexican restaurant.
That Mexican place has decent food..we go there alot
and Ultra Zone laser tag which also has an arcade
I bought my Cactus Jack shirt there back in the day
back in the day? that was like 6 years ago 😭

Hey PHILLY CAPTAIN, great video in Neshaminy Mall..Still in business & hopefully will get better again..Enjoy & TOODLES..
Make it a walkable neighborhood with mixed zoning. Do it up like Bristol Borough.
Turn it into a mix use condo village community, make a pedestrian and bike train to the west trenton line, and run shuttles to the West Trenton train and the Trenton Transit for NYC commuters
Make it a housing project
Well, it’s Blockbuster’s all over again

My kids used to love that place. It’s depressing to see it like that.
Time to turn this into a Gen-X retirement condo community with restaurants, bar, dentist office, and urgent care facility
Have you visited Growden's Mansion? It's just a stone's throw from the mall. I saw DWOW star GI Ho walking the mall around 2008.
You have a Pizzeria Uno's man that's a staple here in Chicago
I think modell's liquidated
Online shopping will eventually take out everything

If I buy the mall, then I will make sure you get the deputy manager job at Game Stop.
I believe the mall opened in 1967 not 1979. The Indian statue was always there along with the colonial dioramas. Very sad to see it so dead.
By apptment only?!
Amazon ruined small businesses people like to stay home
This is my Mall...wish I had the $...I'd keep it going...
Turning that around trust me they would have to definitely charge regular price for space thats 90% of their profit
I guess you found your car with no problem this time.
Curly will never be respected 😂
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Unfortunately it’s probably going to become an Amazon warehouse. Sad 😢
