I saved this months and months ago when I realized how MUCH cat hair was on my chair wheels. I spent 30 minutes or so this morning finally doing the job. Come to find out, it was about 1/3 MY hair (long) and 2/3 my cats hair wound around the spindle of each wheel. I will not let it go such a long time in the future... thank you so much for showing me exactly how to do this job!
Excellent! I used two big screwdrivers as levers to pry off the wheels. I put one screwdriver on the bottom and one on the top to pry off the wheel without bending it. I used a rubber hammer to push out the axel. After cleaning out the hair, one wheel would still be stiff, but I found that if I used a little jeweler's screwdriver and lubricant (like WD40), I could scrape rust out of the inner wheel and off the axel. Doing this a few times, cleaning out the inner wheel with a shaft shaped paper towel, and cleaning the axel with the lubricant and paper towel made the wheel turn easily. I used a rubber hammer to push the wheel back on. Also, when prying or hammering off the wheel parts, watch where they fly, so you can quickly find them.
Funny, educational, and entertaining. Stumbled on your vid because my chair does indeed have these wheels and suffers the same problems. Thanks for putting this out. 😀
Thanks a lot cuz when i tried it wasn't bulging and was too tight and this vid really help solved it and now after trimming the clog hairs and lastly i done lubricating it and like you recommend a few tap and all five will working perfectly 👍
The standard office chair rollers in the video are easier to clean than the Rollerblade style replacement wheels. How do you clean those since you cannot easily get to the shaft?
I did this expecting a whole bunch of stuff between my wheels. No. Just sucky wheels. Now I know how to take them apart. Informative video and funny. Thanks!
How much do they cost at the Goodwill Store? I have found so many roller chairs by the dumpster in our huge apartment complex. Believe it or not, most of them were in fairly decent shape. Right now I have two roller chairs that I got at the "Dumpster Emporium."
I opened the tilt adjustment knob spring of my gaming chair and now unable to tight it again because spring is so hard Please explain how can i solve this issue
I work in a hospital and everyone thinks oh its just an easy quick job, let's do this with like 300 IV poles and save some money. My first one took like 1.5 hours, was disgusting and had a high probability of breaking a part which would totally defeat the entire purpose of doing it. There is also a pretty good chance that you would get hurt at some point in the process if you did it long enough. To buy a brand new unit would cost about $200.00 which I think would be comparable to a chair. I make close to $50.00/hour, so that is $75.00 of tax payer money in just the labour and then you are still left with an old IV pole albeit with nice smooth wheels. It just isn't worth the time that I could be spending on other things in my opinion. I guess taking environmental factors into consideration maybe makes it slightly better to fix, but I don't know... Thanks for the video though, it did help accomplish the task. It would be great if somebody invented a nice spray that would dissolve the hair on contact. There is a million dollar idea for some innovative type out there.
I just did 3 out of 5 wheel sets right now, but somehow I bent the end of one of the metal rods in the process. The plastic on the other hand may have some dents/marks, but is relatively in good shape. After this frustrating moment, I looked up the price of a new set of wheels and they were just $15-30. I think next time this happens I'm just gonna buy a new set lol
What if the wheel itself is leaving black marks on the ground what's the easiest way to clean the wheels themselves? Just Chuck them in the sink with some hot soapy water and scrub them once you've pulled them off? 😅😅
my chair apparently has tougher wheels yet the legs are softer and plastic easily deforms. Eventually I used the grip side of some pliers like a crowbar to put pressure on both sides at the same time. It was still a bitch but it worked
@@StatUpBox though if I had a metal pipe that fit onto the business end of the pliers, the leverage would make it easy. Leaving this here just in case someone encounters tougher material
Been cleaning 6 of 24 of these chairs 😅 taking me 60 min each chair...😢 didn't think i could pull apart 😊 will try.. im shure I'll be buying a few new replacement s
Good video but what if it's not like this kind of plastic wheel? It's also metal. How about how to fix an office chair that don't stay up. I adjusted the seat height and somehow the lever underneath the seat don't work to keep seat a new height. Please Help! Thank you. ❤
Thank you Mike Tyson

I did this to the overbed table casters at the hospital when visiting my dad…. Rolled smooth as glass afterwards 👍👍👍

Came for the content, stayed for the humor. 10/10

I m trying it from 1 hour, nothing happen except my pechkas crooked
Broke my chair doing this.
Nope, Too hard to pry loose.

Unfortunately i ruined my chair

@@halaltube1469 i broke one of the wheels when i tried to pry it apart
I swear I could make a small wig from all the hair from my wheels.
I can’t get past step 1 🤣
A little humor goes a long way. Same goes for a little lubrication.
I messed up on step 2. It was someone else's chair. How to fix?
😂🤣💪☺️
OMG, you are SOOOO entertaining!
It's funny😂❤
