I bought these wheels! My Herman Miller is already expensive AF. I some how thought that having an expensive chair must mean that it had expensive or high quality wheels? I swapped these out and it just felt better. I don't really know how to explain it. I love my stealtho wheels and i even put them on my shelves in my garage. THIS WAS A GAME CHANGER! Especially on the shelves that is loaded with heavy shit... the wheels that they come with just can't do what the Stealtho's do. The factory wheels on the shelf would just not move or roll because it couldn't handle the weight I guess? The Stealtho's do not have this issue! I even roll them around on different "terrains" like little rugs and turf!
Bearing engineer here. ABEC has nothing to do with speed, higher ABEC numbers equate to tighter tolerance bands for the ID, OD, and Width, it does not affect inner geometry or surface finish. ABEC 9 is a waste of money if the shaft and housing cannot be kept to the same extremely tight tolerance range.
Not making sure that all the components in a critical path are of compatible tolerance ranges is actually under-engineering. Putting DLP led headlamps on a kids bicycle is not over-engineering. It's being wasteful.
FYI - Anodizing is a process used on Aluminum. Although it is technically possible to anodize steel, in practice it isn't done. That steel is most likely powdercoated.
I’ve had these since 2022. WFH so they get daily use. The biggest problem is they’re so quiet and roll so easily that I sometimes slide a bit while leaning back in my chair. The dogs don’t seem to appreciate the lack of warning. 😂
As someone who loves dialing in my office chair and who has used several wheel upgrades in the past, I am supper excited to see a company put effort into a product like this and keep the price competitive. I am ordering a set, with locks, now. Thanks for the video!
When I tell you this is the exact thing I’ve discussed in great detail with friends I’m an electrician and I’ve seen a roller chair at the hospital outfitted with roller blade wheels! Superb!
I have been using Stealtho wheels for almost 2 years and I 100% recommend them, but there is one thing Stealtho needs to work on and it's unfortunately why I'm forced to go with a different brand on my new Haworth Fern (skip to the bad if you don't want to read me ramble through what I like about the wheels.) First, the good: The wheels look and feel noticably higher quality than any of the other rollerblade style wheels I've tried for all of the reasons you mentioned in this video. And I LOVE that mine lock, which is not a common feature on rollerblade casters. The locks aren't just there to check a box, either. They have a nice soft touch coating, their shape makes them easy to press with your foot, and they lock with a satisfying snap. They are as well-designed as the rest of the wheel. Next, the indifferent: Does the overengineering make a substantial difference in durability and performance or is it mostly just marketing? Honestly... probably the latter more than the former. But there is something something to be said for the appearance of quality. And Stealtho's pricing is right in line with their competitors, it's not like you're paying more for them (in some cases you're actually paying less.) No reason not to value premium quality when it comes without a premium price tag. Also the glow-in-the-dark wheels are... neat? Let's be honest, the cool factor comes from the blue wheels, not the fact that they (sort of) glow in the dark. Lastly, the bad: This isn't a knock on the wheels themselves (which are great, as established), but there is one thing keeping me from using Stealtho wheels on my new Haworth Fern, and it's ironically the same thing that originally drew me to them: the color. The wheels looked incredible on my blue gaming chair with matte black frame and orange accents. They clash completely on my Ember Orange Haworth Fern with a frame that is a mixture of white and polished aluminum. It's a silly grip, I know, but I didn't spend this much on an absolutely gorgeous chair just to ruin the look with clashing wheels. I don't need Stealtho to go completely crazy with the colors, but some options besides "black frame with black wheels" or "black frame with blue wheels" would be appreciated. Something as simple as a matte gray or white paint job on the frame-or a niced brushed steel to contrast with the tacky chrome most cheap silver wheels use-with gray or white wheels would go a long way (I'd kill for orange wheels, but I'm not holding my breath.) It would also set them apart because the very few white or silver wheels with locks that exist use black locks and it looks cheap. That could help further cement Stealtho as a step above all the other rollerblade style office chair wheels out there. Just something for Stealtho to consider in case they stumble upon this (or if you happen to pass it along to them.)
My friend and I call this "Joyous Overkill." If you're going to do something, do it right, and damn the cost. By the way, I bought a bunch of 4" heavy-duty casters from Service Caster Corporation, and they were so overbuilt their axles had grease nipples on them!
Ive used “upgraded” casters before similar to the amzn example. What is crucial is that the change negative caster isn’t so great that it torques the spider too much. This matters more for the heavier individuals who spends a lot of time on their chair. And if the floor does not allow for easy rolling, then it will accelerate wear on the spider and will likely deform or break near the attachment point. Ive had many spiders fail because of this change in critical dimension as compared to the default rollers.
so glad i came across this. like you said most of the ones ive seen on amazon are more expensive, and you showed that the stealtho is better quality. definitely ordering some. hope the link and like helps you out a little
@RedTick2 for the top hat, since it's metal to metal, I use Lithium grease. For the wheel bearings, I use Prothane grease since it's near the bushing material. It's a bit pricey, but I have a lot of it lying around for my vehicles.
@EvanWasHere just apply where there's moving pieces. Don't overdo it cause it'll attract more dust/dirt. Clean/Reapply when needed. This applies to really any bearings, really.
The thing is was it really over engineered or is it that it's designed properly with longevity in mind. I was fascinated that these type of companies ensures longevity of their product rather than creating something good enough and they know that will break soon so they can buy it again. And i recommend adding some lube on the ball bearing for smoother roll and minimise wear and tear
Gotta love well designed products! It’s great that you show how it works on the inside. The bearings inside the wheel look like Red Bones that I use with my longboard.
heyy i have those!! love em! i put these on my secret labs chair, other than it picking up every strand of my gf's hair ive had absolutely zero problems with them. really quite and it just glides so easily on tile floors
I had the generic amazon versions which kept breaking and squeaking after long use. I bit the bullet and bought these ones which were more expensive Smoothest experience ever and no issues after years of use
Great video! A great point you made is that to you they were all just wheels on Amazon and I feel that is charactaristically similar to many other buyers on Amazon as well.
I'm pretty sure I know why the ball bearings are on the top while the plastic bearing thing is on the bottom: the surface between the bottom of the stem and the top of the caster mounting fork is where the load is carried. The bottom side of that mount does not hold the load. Certain types of plastics are self-lubricating, but not load-bearing. Ball bearings have load ratings, so you can save money by only having them on the load-bearing surface. The stealtho casters with the caged bearings increase stiffness, spread the load out more effectively, decrease deflection, and therefore increase the lifespan of the caster SIGNIFICANTLY.
That’s true in an ideal world when rolling on a perfectly flat surface, but when one rolls over a height change the bottom bearings would come into effect. Also forces would be applied at the bottom whenever the stem slightly skews from vertical. If there’s any play in how the stem is held for instance, that would create forces underneath.
I like the attention to detail to show the red bit of the bearing. Seems to be such well made set of wheels. Too bad they aren’t available in my region
I bought a pair of these but ended up returning because of one major design flaw. Each of these casters are a single wheel, instead of the split design of normal casters. In addition, the wheels are offset from their mount by too much. These two issues result in the casters locking up ENTIRELY under any lateral pressure. If you try to move in a direction that the casters are not already facing, your chair will halt completely. Sometimes even so intensely that your other wheels tilt off the ground. Great set otherwise
I've been using these for a couple of years now and they are MUCH quieter on wooden floors. I was continually chastised by people downstairs for making too much noise whenever my chair rolled and that stopped when I replaced the wheels with these.
I only stopped using these because 2 locks were not enough. I have missed the glide on this every day, i remember when I was looking for a wheel I realized it would mess with the height so I wanted a smaller one and these looked the best. But I needed another lock for what i was doing or 2 more. I wanted to use them when using my pedals for sim racing. it always sliped just a lil and i messed with changing the position but couldn't get them to work.
It was interesting, but ....... why didn't you put the wheels on a chair and tell us how they worked? I was waiting to see a set of them in action. Disappointed you didn't do that.
The normal two roller plastic wheels are fine on vinyl, but if you have carpet, or wood floors where you don't want to scratch them, then the rollerblade style are a must.
I happen to have bought similar wheels (10) on taobao recently for like $10.91 (S$14.47, 78.10RMB), inclusive of shipping to Singapore and 9% GST. Not rollerblade wheels mind you, but solidly built and ball bearings all over as well.
I bought something similar from Amazon UK. My urethane wheels were taller than the normal plastic ones plus there is only one wheel , resulting in unnecessary torsion of the base's legs . My cheapo chair base got destroyed. It was stamped mild steel
Enso Motion wheels are worth the price. Any roller blades wheels suffer from the same toe pinching defect and have strong rolling dead zones when you want to switch direction that make toes more susceptible to this danger.
У меня в офисе было ломанное кресло. Я решил не выбрасывать его, а купил на озоне такие колеса. Кресло теперь прикольно катается, очень тихо и плавно. Даже жаль что не к своему стулу я их приделал.
Even tho I can appreciate the effort to make a quality product, I hate that most of these are not serviceable by yourself. I bought a set that can be disassembled by me, I can clean them up, and put them back together, and I'm guessing I could buy a set of rollerblade wheels and put them in but I'm not sure since they seem to last forever
As someone who loves to over engineer features in App development I'm enjoying this video but I'm sitting on an Aeron with the cheapest roller blade wheels i could find on Amazon 3 years ago and they are working really well still. 😂
the only thing i truly like about this is that they are shorter tbh, the center bearing while it's nice isn't needed, it needs to roll a bit, no km and km every time you use them its curious the choice of the bearing for the top half, while i love that is caged its mostly useless as you don't dismantle this on daily bases, and the smaller bearing its very useless if you ask me, the other one has the plastic ring bcs once you are sitting, the load its fully on the top one, im somewhat confident that the plastic ring it's juuuust touching the fork and its just there so its not flapping and making noise,i do like the little side cut but thats bcs i have cats and makes easy to see if there are hair on the shaft
had some. bearings fell out in 2 years. I got those before i started working from home. they crapped out shortly after i started WFH. (Funny, i just moved a shelf in my office and found one of the bearings a few days ago.) then i bought the exact ones you are running down in this video. the Lifelong. Ive had em on since 2022. I sit in my office chair A LOT. they still work great. the height difference? lol your chair is adjustable. meh, the only thing that really matters about these wheels is that they are polyurethane and roll nice. no matter which brand you buy, they'll probably fail eventually.
You should contact them. Had mine for four years now. (EDIT since you edited your original comment). Reach out to STEALTHO as they should replace your wheels no problem. I don’t know why you insist they break easily but I won’t judge.
What you didn’t emphasize enough is that the magnitude of improvement by going from the crappy stock casters to even the Amazon wheeled casters is so enormous that the relative improvement made by upgrading to the higher quality casters is de minimus in comparison.
I think those are cool and appreciate when a company puts true design thought into their work and not just buying a Chinese product and slap their name on it. That being said, anytime someone says "oh this is a special Japanese steel that only we can get" is horse poop! in today's world the only way you can have a steel that "no one else" can get is to come up with your own proprietary alloy. I see this all of the time when discussing Japanese chef knives. And, even if they have some exclusive contract that they are the only people allowed to import that alloy, I can guarantee that there is an equivalent German alloy
Two things about these wheels: they suck on carpet. I know, that should go without saying, but I was really hoping they’d treat my carpet less harshly than normal casters. They don’t. They also pick up dog hair like mad. It’s definitely the rubber design, but if you have a dog that sheds as much as mine, you’re going to find that dog hair inside your wheels rather quickly. It’s not fun to remove.
Okay but also mention how many times more expensive it is VS. the "regular amazon brand" and is it worth it?? You could over engineering everything and make everything with exotic materials but is it a good design or a GREAT design 😅😅😅
A nice review. But comparing a premium wheel to a built down to a price is NOT fair. I suggest you do the comparison to IMHO the best wheels made in Germany called Blickle. I think you will give the Stealtho wheels a thumbs down. Let have the review.
Thanks for the input but as I mentioned in the end the price of these two wheels are way too close to ignore the build quality. That was actually the point of the review.
@@MichaelSoledad I was hoping you could showcase the best wheels. People deserve to know and Amazon is not a place for quality. As nice as the Stealtho wheels appear, IMHO the Blickle would be head and shoulders above. I have no affiliation with Blickle, I think the people should know they are missing out. They are no cheap. But as Henry Royce said "the quality remains long after the price is forgotten".
Its rollerblade wheels with a metal inset that fits the cavity of the old wheels stem. What smoke and mirrors are they trying to present about difficulty? I bought roller blade from goodwill and adapted them to my chair with a few things from HomeDepot and painted them black. All in I'm under $20. This is a known thing to the chair community
Any roller blade chair wheel should be ignored if it uses open bearings. It will accumulate dust, hair over time which will cause problems. The one I own has double CLOSED bearings per wheel. Stealtho has capacity to do "race car design", but cheap out on longevity, sure.
No such thing as over engineered if it improves efficiencies and comfort. Besides, such durable wheels are better at preventing damages to my expensive floor tiles.
middle part is not plastic it's the cover/seal of the bearing. also that's definitely not anodized. looks like some other coating. there is no such thing as "special japanese steel". overall there is zero over-engineering. only more premium materials.
I have read a little about japansese steel. Japan is most likely the leading knife and sword producer (like since the Samurai era more or less). For at least kitchen knifes - Solingen/Germany might be on the second place. I guess Japan got their for their "high end" industries and production capabilties. China does a lot cheap massproduction (i.e. steel), Japan does do specialixe a lot of the global luxury and high quality gadgets... including various type of hardware components (chips, amplifiers and lot more) textiles (today kinda comparable to Italy), knifes etc. Except that, Japan is one of the richest countries in the world while counting BNP. Japanese steel IS different because 1. they have highly skilled methods and professionals. 2. Japense steel has higher amount of coal than western steel. I do not remember the details about it. I think it makes the steel harder, and sharper. But it might actually mean less durability. But for cooking or in wars back in the days (litterly) it was indeed, really good thing. For wheels, not so much. However, "japense" steel is widely used for marketing bla bla bla... there are a lot of ordiniary or even cheap products that use "japanese steel". But it is low quality stuff... There are of course, good japaense steel that is probably much better than most steel. But I would not trust that this is so special, or possibly not even that "premium". I did read the bad reviews on Rozetka (I live in Sweden, they are not available here - but my gf live in Ukraine so I might buy the wheels there) and I get them when we meet. However, I bad reviews say they are garbage making some noise. Bacause the quality of that does also makes difference. At these pictures, the colours seems to wear of. Which, I guess is neither "perfect". Correct me if I am wrong but extremely resistant colours are very scratch-resistant. There are chemicals out there, that can stand anything or have amazing characteristics I noticed. Especially if it is for professional or industrial use. So, yeah. Not perfect. But maybe good enough for me. I am about to "pimp" my chair. A steelcase qivi chair. Replacing wheels and let a professional replace textile to high quality linen and replace the foam with horsehair, maybe. The $800+ chair feels like rolling on ice, I do not like it. Maybe, I will have better experience. Lets found out...
I was very clear about that. Very hard to believe one is not built tougher than the other from the use of materials alone but yes, without testing I don’t claim anything.
i went looking for the wheels on amazon NL but could not find them then went looking for them in Germany i would have to pay shipping for them. But then my jaw dropped to the floor.. instead of the $33 they cost 96 euro. At the time of writing that's $105 .,,Sold by a crazy chinees sounding seller called qiuxushenzen ..i think Stealtho should start thinking of EU.. i would love a set of these for $33 i also use cheaper variant of these wheels on my dining chairs and for one of my desk chairs
they look nice they are reasonably priced they are available in Australia SOLD! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! i wish more brands like this would sell to Australia. MRCOOL i want your stuff, sell to me!!!!!

It hasn't been added to the official dictionary of the English language, the Oxford Dictionary. Webster's is for my 5 yr old in kindergarden

Hey if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it 😄
A skateboard baring that can be lubed without replacing/removing from it’s caster (assuming the baring is clean of dirt or materials)
Funny. I was looking for your other video recently on these wheels like a week ago.
nice wheels, i am imagining it in my carry on luggage :)
The focus hunting is making me dizzy. Is there some sort of face tracking that you can enable to prevent this from happening?
the only thing i truly like about this is that they are shorter tbh, the center bearing while it's nice isn't needed, it needs to roll a bit, no km and km every time you use them
its curious the choice of the bearing for the top half, while i love that is caged its mostly useless as you don't dismantle this on daily bases, and the smaller bearing its very useless if you ask me, the other one has the plastic ring bcs once you are sitting, the load its fully on the top one, im somewhat confident that the plastic ring it's juuuust touching the fork and its just there so its not flapping and making noise,i do like the little side cut but thats bcs i have cats and makes easy to see if there are hair on the shaft
had some. bearings fell out in 2 years.
The black one ate my feet. Suggest that they taper the hood to follow the curvature of the wheel.
The flat style rollerblade wheels are better for wooden flooring.. or you’ll get dented streaks
I put stealtho wheels on every office chair in the house, and regret nothing
What you didn’t emphasize enough is that the magnitude of improvement by going from the crappy stock casters to even the Amazon wheeled casters is so enormous that the relative improvement made by upgrading to the higher quality casters is de minimus in comparison.
I love this
I got them they are nice I would like them to lift the chair a little higher though!
Oh nice. These might get slapped on the Aeron!!
You’re going to love them. A friend of mine has them on his gaming Embody chair and the colors match perfectly!
i can see you have a good taste, since you are sitting on a Steelcase KARMAN
I think those are cool and appreciate when a company puts true design thought into their work and not just buying a Chinese product and slap their name on it. That being said, anytime someone says "oh this is a special Japanese steel that only we can get" is horse poop! in today's world the only way you can have a steel that "no one else" can get is to come up with your own proprietary alloy. I see this all of the time when discussing Japanese chef knives. And, even if they have some exclusive contract that they are the only people allowed to import that alloy, I can guarantee that there is an equivalent German alloy
"irregardless"
This was already addressed and beaten to death 😂
Just higher quality parts, nothing out of the ordinary
Oh you know, just better parts and better build quality for something simple as casters. No biggie 😂
All in all, still great to roll around on in the living room lol
Okay but also mention how many times more expensive it is VS. the "regular amazon brand" and is it worth it?? You could over engineering everything and make everything with exotic materials but is it a good design or a GREAT design 😅😅😅
If you watched the video till the end, I mentioned that these were at the time actually cheaper than the “regular” best selling ones on Amazon.
I will definitely look into it. Thank you for the recommendation!
i can get the same thing for 3 bucks on amazon and they work 90% as well
Lmao sure sure
how abt apple rollerblade?
So rollerblade wheels reinvented 😅
Its rollerblade wheels with a metal inset that fits the cavity of the old wheels stem. What smoke and mirrors are they trying to present about difficulty? I bought roller blade from goodwill and adapted them to my chair with a few things from HomeDepot and painted them black. All in I'm under $20. This is a known thing to the chair community
I’m not sure I understand the point of your post because if you understood the video then you wouldn’t be saying this 🤷♂️
Any roller blade chair wheel should be ignored if it uses open bearings. It will accumulate dust, hair over time which will cause problems. The one I own has double CLOSED bearings per wheel. Stealtho has capacity to do "race car design", but cheap out on longevity, sure.
Now after hearing all that I was ready to buy, because this is genuinely cool, but I can't even get them. What an L
i prefer " built like a brick shithouse" + "extreme durability"
NGL, i'd just zerk/grease the originals and they will be better than stock.
2:25 the dimensions are different, this is clearly not the same item with different logo at all.
🙄🙄🙄
@@MichaelSoledad What.
No such thing as over engineered if it improves efficiencies and comfort. Besides, such durable wheels are better at preventing damages to my expensive floor tiles.
now that it’s been shown to the world, it’ll get copied by some factory in China in a week and show up on AliExpress or Temu
Overengineered is better than u derengineered❤❤
ALWAYS overbuild! Overengineered is always better!
So replacing 1 plastic piece with a set of bearings makes it "Over Engineered and Totally Unnecessary". What a load.
You clearly did not understand the video
middle part is not plastic it's the cover/seal of the bearing. also that's definitely not anodized. looks like some other coating. there is no such thing as "special japanese steel". overall there is zero over-engineering. only more premium materials.
Thank you for the input!
If you don't test, there isn't any point in discussing claims...
I was very clear about that. Very hard to believe one is not built tougher than the other from the use of materials alone but yes, without testing I don’t claim anything.
Use ceramic speed bearings or gtfo lol
i went looking for the wheels on amazon NL but could not find them then went looking for them in Germany i would have to pay shipping for them. But then my jaw dropped to the floor.. instead of the $33 they cost 96 euro. At the time of writing that's $105 .,,Sold by a crazy chinees sounding seller called qiuxushenzen ..i think Stealtho should start thinking of EU.. i would love a set of these for $33 i also use cheaper variant of these wheels on my dining chairs and for one of my desk chairs
good to see a video when someone is into over engineering of castor wheels 🎡
Put these on 🧳
they look nice
they are reasonably priced
they are available in Australia
SOLD! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
i wish more brands like this would sell to Australia. MRCOOL i want your stuff, sell to me!!!!!
😂😂 I love this
