We know the battery is water-resistant. How about the rest of the bike?
In response to this test Velotric replied.
1)The whole vehicle waterproofing is IPX6, not IPX7, and does not involve immersion waterproofing testing. (So you're definitely pushing it to the limit.)
2) Make sure to wipe the battery socket dry, before powering it up as shown in the washing machine video. Otherwise the power will short out as you see and it'll take a few times to start.

Water and electricity don't mix well so need to at least dry the connector otherwise it might cause corrosion on the contact point.

That is insane. I am getting a new bike soon that they claim is IPX6 and I was going to power wash it as a demo. But I cannot even imagine a total immersion test.
Velotric replied when they saw the video. This was not approved by any means but I heard the CEO said it would survive, so I had to test it out.
For a moment there I was hoping the controller wasn't infected by brain eating amoeba.

E-bikes are water resistant, not water proof. It’s turning on momentarily because there’s water between contacts, take the battery out and dry the contacts, otherwise you’ll have to wait for it to dry out. Not good to repeatedly turn it on when its cutting out like that. If there’s a short due to water it could be sparking or damaging something when you try to turn it on. The motor isnt water proof, its a metal cover screwed onto metal hub shell, with no gasket or seal. The controller inside the frame is electronics, unless they pot the electronics and its totally water proof i would imagine just a tiny bit of water getting in the controller could mess it up. Lots of bike components like the display, throttle, control pad, etc are not fully water proof either. Water damage doesn’t happen immediately.
I agree with you on most of these aspects. Since I forgot to bring the battery key, I had to wait for it to dry out enough. I did bring it home and pull the battery and dried up everything I could. I do these tests so others will know. Velotric did not approve that test and wrote a response that I pinned int he comments. With that being said, the Aventon Rambas is rated as waterproof and I dunk it as well and proved it.
that is pretty cool as someone whos "crashed" into a river this is good to know (bike stayed dry just me went in the water)
That would be the ONLY reason this bike should or would ever get this wet. At least we know it would survive and not leave you stranded. Thanks for watching!

This bike is not rated to do it. While talking to Velotric I was told the CEO believed that it could, so I figured I would try it out for him. Although tempting, I will only do this with bikes that I believe "might" handle it. I believe the engineers at Velotric panicked a little bit and sent back an email with notes that I have added to the description. hahaha
When you first dunked it I was like no I want one of these but cant afford it but Im glad you did now I know one should be safe one the back of my vehicle if it gets rained on , cause it always rains when I go on vacation .
The bike will survive not only rain, but flooding. hahaha
