"Like a dirge, a slow, grinding track". And the vocals sound like he's singing from the far corner of the room. There is an atmospheric aura surrounding Joy Division music, quite compelling. Another group I only knew of by name a week or so ago. I've become a student on this channel, finding out regularly how little I know about peripheral, known but not mainstream acts. And while he's mentioned it often, please take the time to explore the Daniel Profeta channel containing his original work. You won't be disappointed.
Stephen Morris is such a great drummer but always seems overlooked when people consider the best drummers. He is capable of metronomic time keeping, even at ridiculous speeds, but can fill and improvise like a jazz drummer and then jump straight back onto the beat with laser focus. Stephen Morris on Drums and Peter Hook on bass (often playing lead guitar riffs on bass) we're the stand out musicians in Joy Division and New Order coupled with the song writing skill of Ian Curtis and later Bernard Sumner with New Order created something very special.
@Christian Adams hey the beauty about music is it is totally subjective one person's Wagner is another person's well Wagner so to speak, but like him or not calling Stephen Morris average is a little unfair, one of the greatest post punk drummers, pace and rhythm never faltering for a 90 minute set is impressive, he might not be as flash as Neil Peart or as powerful as John Bonham but he has talent, check out this sound check ruclips.net/video/WqcLsPIAqGo/видео.html it's pretty impressive.
They only made 2 albums and yet made such a big impact in music in such a short period of time!! This album Unknown Pleasures was released in 1979 and the last one Closer was released in 1980 (after Ian's death), you definitely should react to the whole Closer album when you're done with this one!!
Самая мрачная вещь из этого альбома - однозначно , всем остальным из этого альбома лайки , а этой пол лайка ) Переходи ко второму и последнему альбому Closer )
Aside from a handful of tracks, I've never been wowed by Joy Division. their singer and their sound does not speak to me. Also in the Post-punk genre in 1979 (three months before Unknown Pleasures), the English band Magazine released their second album Secondhand Daylight which I advise you to listen to because it is a really brilliant album !!! (even better than their debut album Real Life which was already great). Start with the first track "Feed the Enemy" to get you in the mood...!
While being very grateful for your delve into Talk Talk, for the third time recently, why are you playing so much Joy Division in quick succession? Is it a whole feature of the album, or as i said before, are you just playing a lot within a small time frame?
Joy Division's short, but very influential, career was finished years before Nick Cave even formed The Bad Seeds. Ian Curtis died, and Joy Division broke up, before the Bad Seeds existed as a group and had recorded a single note. Nick Cave, and his first band, The Birthday Party, were *greatly influenced by Joy Division* though, as were many other bands, from that era and later.
@@becuzitsthere4484 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are amazing but they have nothing on Joy Division. Other projects by Blixa are way better than them and The Birthday Party also
I love Joy Division's music, They were really ahead of the game
He's got this compelling voice. That and the music are hypnotic. Very good:)

The singer almost sounds like a punk Jim Morrison. An eerie song, almost a song of mourning. Unique.
it seems a lot of people dont love this track but for me this was always a highlight of the album. great video!
Totally agree one of my favourite tracks, ever
Breathless.
"She's Lost Control" has some really unique drums.
So happy to see you've discovered JD.

He's average and nothing more! The reason it works is down to the simplicity of the music, which only requires the very basic rudiments of percussion!

I love it.
Who among us children of the 70s didn’t own that Unknown Pleasures album cover t shirt at some point?
All I can think to say is: check out both original and cover-I Still Believe
By the Call and Tim…something or other. From The Lost Boys
You should do the Album Closer after this one.
classic case of music by numbers, souless and no imagination
reminds me of the Doors

You should do The Smiths - Won't Share You
Was the song over. 😂LOL
Daniel do I use my account or do I make a new one for Band camp.

He's reacting to the entire "Unknown Pleasures" album by Joy Division, song by song. Sometimes, he does this with albums. I like it!
Joy Division wishes they were Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, but they are not. Still enjoyed it

Lol Nick Cave was influenced by Joy Division. Nick came years after.
@@tourist1313 Doesn't matter to me who is the chicken and who is the egg. Joy Division still wishes they were Nick Cave.
