A unique number. This Joy Division album is a minor revelation to me. A very unusual but distinctive style. Mahalo, Daniel, for broadening me again.

I was so excited that Joy Division was coming to NYC and touring the USA. I didn’t know that much about them except what I read in British music magazines but a college radio station played them a lot and I loved them! I remember the first time I heard Ian Curtis’s voice, how rich and captivating it was.
Sadly, he killed himself right before the tour was to begin. 😢
Since you are listening now to post-punk, would you please react to Echo & the Bunnymen, if you haven’t explored them yet on your own. (I can recommend another 10 bands, as well.) Frontman Ian McCullough (Mac) has a great voice and is a fine songwriter. And they never stopped touring. So if you like the band, maybe you’ll have an opportunity to see them live.
Joy Division formed in ‘76. Echo in ‘78.

I read somewhere that "doo-doo" noise is a disco drum pad that the drummer Steven Morris got with the intention of reprogramming/ changing the sound. It turned out he couldn't change the sound but ended up using it anyway because he paid for it. You are going to find out that Insight does not build up to a faster song next on this album. Instead, New Dawn Fades is slow and brutal in its melancholy- truly one of their best songs in my opinion.

One of my favorites of theirs. Something about that bassline and the way it meshes with the vocals. Something haunting and mournful about it.

Just awesome. But was it just me or did it sound like Star Wars blasters in there:) Lots of emotions in this. Love it!

You came up in my recommendations yesterday and I've watched a ton of your videos. Nicely done, sir. Most reaction video content sucks! You actually take the time to discuss lyrics and background of the songs. Not common at all and it puts you way up over the rest.

I'd love to hear you react to JD live at The Factory, Manchester or Paradiso, Amsterdam or the Effenaar, Eindhoven. All amazing shows, they are on YT. Also, please consider doing the JD "Peel Sessions" versions of the songs. They are incredible.

A dirge of a song. I like it. Great reaction and thanks for doing more Joy Division. Maybe you will also like Elvis Costello and the Attractions, maybe try their song “I Don’t Want to go to Chelsea”. Elvis Costello writes great lyrics.

Deckard hauls himself onto the rooftop,
turbines spinning lazily in the rain,
then a hatch opens, setting him fleeing, and leaping...
    "Ah", thinks Roy, following
"I guess that dreams always end."
He steps to the roof's edge, to see Deckard
hanging from a beam of the opposite roof.
His clock running down, only slowed by the nail in his hand,
    Roy thinks:
"I've lost the will to want more,
I'm not afraid not at all,
I watch them all as they fall,
But I remember when we were young."
A flock of doves flutter down
and Roy, recognising his maker's handiwork,
    plucks one from the air,
    and with it a thought:
    "Those with habits of waste,
Their sense of style and good taste,
Of making sure you were right,
Hey don't you know you were right?
    I'm not afraid anymore,
I keep my eyes on the door,
    But I remember..."
Leaping the chasm, dove in hand, he stands
above the slipping grip of Deckard.
To open a door for his creator's servant?
"Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it?
    " Says Roy
"That's what it is to be a slave.
    "
    Deckard slips, but Roy snatches
    his second dove from the air;
heaving him onto the roof and casting him aside.
Looking pitifully at this corporate puppet,
flapping about with his strings cut,
    He thinks:
    "Tears of sadness for you
    More upheaval for you
    Reflects a moment in time
    A special moment in time
    Yeah, we wasted our time
    We didn't really have time
    But we remember
    When we were young
    And all God's angels beware
    And all you judges beware
Sons of chance, take good care
For all the people not there
    I'm not afraid anymore
    I'm not afraid anymore
    I'm not afraid anymore
    "
    He kneels down.
    "Oh, I'm not afraid anymore."
Barely louder than the rain's din,
    he says:
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe...
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark
    Near the Tannhäuser Gates.
    All those... moments...
    will be lost... in time,
    Like tears... in... rain.
    Time... to die..."
The rainfall slowing from torrent to trickle
The dove slips from Roy's hand,
and flitters away among the warehouses.

Love it! Once you get thru this wonderful album, I'd highly recommend New Order "Power Corruption and Lies". As I'm sure you know, its the same musicians from Joy Division and it is an interesting development of post-punk.

If you like Joy Division, maybe you would like some Durutti Column, Cabaret Voltaire, Catholic Discipline or Christian Death (their early deathrock stuff)

Manfred Mann's Earth Band As Above So Below ruclips.net/video/d5wbYnqWc90/видео.html
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Nightingales & Bombers - As Above So Below (1975) instrumental masterpiece
"The title of this album was inspired by a recording made in Surrey, England during the Second World War, by an ornithologist intending to record Nightingales. The bombers flew over at the same time and were recorded by accident. The recording has been incorporated in 'As Above, So Below'". - Manfred Mann 1975[3] (In fact, the recording was made on May 1942 by a BBC sound engineer for the BBC. Intending to capture the nightingale's song he also, by accident, recorded the sound of RAF bombers on their way to attack Mannheim, Germany.)

Another great reaction Daniel and you Have New Dawn Fades next, it is slow and very heavy sort of like swimming in mayonnaise, however Moby does a more upbeat cover of New Dawn Fades, I'm not a massive fan of Moby bit he does handle this cover with some reverence.

      Cause of JD?

    • @timebandito4278
      @timebandito4278 2 года назад

Because it seems even when people send you great music, like Pet Sounds and the White Album, you basically forget about I and choose to focus on stuff like this. I'm beginning to think you're never going to do another Beatles reaction

    • @timebandito4278
      @timebandito4278 2 года назад

I'll still continue to follow your music because I think you're very talented but just not the reactions

    • @DiconDissectionalReactions
      @DiconDissectionalReactions  2 года назад +3

@@timebandito4278 Yeah, I like focusing on what's interesting me at the time, which at the moment is darker sounds and darker lyrics. This record is critically acclaimed and has been called one of the most influential debut records of all time, so I wouldn't say it was any waste of time to hear (for me personally).
Actually have been going through the Beatles discography on patreon for a couple months now, and have never done a regular Beatles reaction on youtube before. So I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "another". Have not made it to the White album yet though, currently on Beatles for Sale.
But aside from that, thank you for letting me know you were unsubscribing, and thanks for watching as long as you have. Peace:)

Thank you for the support in musical endeavors, I greatly appreciate it.
