Thanks for your question. I'm not a dealer for those manufacturers, however if they happen to come in on a trade I'll be sure to do a review. All the best! - Diego
Hi, I'm glad you asked. De Oro Music started as a company manufacturing this same guitar support called the "Guitarest Trio Guitar Support." It allows the player to sit normally and use the support to hold the guitar instead of the players body. More comfort means better body health and more time on the instrument.
A cedar top is available as an option ($100) on Taylor guitars from the 500 series and up. The one in the video is gone but we've got a Mahogany/Cedar Top Grand Symphony in stock for $2400. It's old designation was GS5e (Grand Symphony/500 series/with pickup) New designation would call it a 516e. Thanks for your comment. All the best! - Diego
@NimnueDream @NimnueDream Yes, it really was a nice guitar all around. The support is a "GUITAREST" guitar support which is my own design and also available on the site. Thanks for your comments. All the best!
Hello, thank you for your inquiry. I have been impressed by the consistency of playability, tuneablility, and tone of the Taylors I've played. Personally I can justify the purchase of a top quality (and expensive) guitar by how they hold their value or increase as a valuable asset with time. Of course name and woods are paramount to this approach. The microphone is a Neumann TLM103 played through a Universal Audio preamp. No compression or EQ. Hope this is helpful. Saludos - Diego
Thanks so much! I made the 1st one in 1998. 15 years and 20 000 hours of use has given me some insight from a player's perspective. I'm so happy you find it practical and useful. All the best - Diego
Thanks for your response. A jumbo with rosewood body would guarantee the big sound and resonant deep bass you want to accomplish. Many players enjoy the broad dynamic range and versatility that Sitka spruce gives but if you are concerned about it being too punchy or harsh then you might consider Engelmann spruce. The Engelmann tends to add midrange warmth and richness. Cedar is also a good choice for adding warmth and is best suited to a player with a lighter touch. Hope this helps. - Diego
Absolutely! They are available for $31.99 and ship worldwide for $5 (total=$37.99) Visit the De Oro Music site (use the link in the video description) and click on Guitar Support. Thank you for your interest! - Diego
Hi, thanks for your inquiry. It's called 'In Christ Alone.' I was looking for something in drop-D which would let the open strings ring to really hear the depth of tone from the cedar. It was also good pairing with the feel and meaning of 'Amazing Grace.'
Thank you for your inquiry. I sat down and played the 214ce and it does sound quite nice. However it doesn't match this cedar 714ce. All the best! - Diego
@michael4au Thank you. It is my own arrangement of Amazing Grace. Just trying to combine the melody over the 3 chords. With a few inversions up the neck it's quite simple actually. I love that melody! All the best - Diego
Thank you so much for your extensive review of this guitar. I feel like alot of people who review guitars just play a G,A and D chord and then say "alrighty make sure to check it out!" and we are left to wonder what the instrument can really sound like...So again! thank you very much I really appreciate it
What i want to accomplish is a very big sound with a resonant deep bass but with clear bell-like highs. Jumbo with the sitka and roesewood? I would mostly use this guitar for worship, strumming, and fingerpicking as well.
Thanks for your inquiry. You bring up a valid point in your concern of whether the cedar would muddy up the sound of a jumbo. There is certainly debate on that point, but a factor is also what sound you are looking for and your application for the guitar. I like the cedar on the Grand Auditorium shape (designated by the '14' in the '714' model number) What is it you want to accomplish with the guitar? -Diego
I am thingking about getting a guitar with Red Cedar top and Rosewood back and sides in a concert jumbo, what are your thoughts? I dont like how harsh and punchy the sitka sounds with the rosewood, but I'm worried that the cedar would make the rosewood sound too muddy. I love how deep, rich and big this guitar sounds, with just the right amount of clearity, but i mean it is Taylor. lol
Just Beautiful, the guitar, the leg support and the playing. Just WoW. I was thinking about getting this. But the new one has an option for a cedar top. I'm not convinced with the Engelmann Spruce. I would love your opinion on it. I love the 7's the best in the Taylor range. Everything else sounds metallic. Probably it's to cut through the mix when playing in a band.
THinking about getting a guitar with Red Cedar top and Rosewood back and sides in a concert jumbo size, can you tell me what your thoughts are? I'm not a huge fan of how harsh and punchy the sitka is with the rosewood, but I'm afraid that the cedar would muddy up the sound. I love this sound, but the internet doesnt help much with the actual sound of the guitar.
I would use it more for solo acoustic stuff, I would strum it a lot, and would use it a ton for worship-type playing. DO you think a jumbo with the sitka and rosewood still produce a strong resonant bass but also have a bell-like clearness with the highs without being too punchy? I just dont want the sound of the guitar to be too "forcefull" or "punchy". Any input on certain woods I could accomlish this with if not any of the above?
Thanks Kevin. I don't have tabs at the moment but I've had a few requests so I'm thinking to do a lesson video for it. The lesson will have the tabs. Keep an eye out for late summer. All the best! - Diego
its a really awesome guitar for fingerstyle, just tried it today :) oh, btw, what is that support thingy you put under the guitar to rest it on ur leg?
This is an extremely well sounding guitar. I'm interested to know what your up-to-date opinion is on Taylor models with price point in effect. Also, what is the model of the microphone you are using? It works great for acoustic recording.
I like the ES system .. but I mainly play music that the sound is appreciated in. It depends what you like to do-- there are tutorials for removing the ES system.
I have this guitar and love everything about it other than the ES system. The guitar sounds great miked out, but the expression system is terrible. This is the third Taylor I have purchased thinking it was the one woods that I was not satisfied in, but it is the ES system. Sounds like an electric guitar. In my search on the internet I am finding several comments on the dislike of the ES system, but Taylor does not seem to care
thanks mate, ill halfto get some, they sound really good! im using D'adario gauge 12's atm..lighter than i usualy use..13's are my usual...but how does the guitar react to heavier gague strings...thats one thing im interested in thtudidnt cover :)
ahh cool man, i usualy use Dadario 12s..how does the guitar react to higher gauge strings?..thats one thing im interested in before i part with my money :)
Hi there, Thank you for all your reviews! I absolutely love your beautiful version of the Star Spangled Banner. Do you have tabs for it?? Also, I'm curious how do you think the sound of the 714 compares to the new 814?? I'm trying to decide between the two.
Please tell me what is that piece he has attached to the bottom of the guitar? I've used a number of things to keep my guitar from sliding forward but what he has there I think does more than that and I'd like to try it out.
That is the de Oro "Guitarest" Guitar Support. It allows the guitarist to practice and player longer hours in more comfort. It sells from the site (see link in video description) for $31.99 and ships worldwide for $5.
Hey there! Great review on this beautiful guitar. I had a quick question though, there have been some comparisons between this guitar and a breedlove pro series d25/srh, and of course there are the different stand-points between the two. How would you scale the breedlove in comparison to this taylor? -Thanks and keep up the great work!
Thanks for your question. It's the cover of a 12 CD flamenco anthology called "Magna Antologia del Cante Flamenco." by the HispaVox label. Great historical value and highly recommended. BTW Casa Patas uses it as a logo. They have produced some fine DVD's of the shows at their tablao. All the best! - Diego
Diego de Oro Thanks for your answer! i really liked your playing, especially the strumming and lead playing, sounds great on acoustic. Can you tell what artists\guitarists that play that style of acoustic ? i´m starting to get into this style of playing.thanks, your channel is great!
There goes that thin, tinny sound I hear from so many Taylor guitars. Nice guitar but where's the bass? I hope what I'm hearing (or not hearing) is due to the low-fi sound quality on YT!

ive got a sunburst one and its definitely not worth £2500,the top is bowed at the bridge, the neck heel looks like it was shaped with a hacksaw on one side, the body has been over routed at the neck and filled with caulk and there is fret buzz at the 12th and thats with the action at about 6mm,if i so much as drop a pick on the top it get dented and the sound system is awful, the guitar gets dreadful feedback if the volume is on any more than half and the overall sound is thin and brittle and if you so much as lightly touch the bridge pins you get a loud rasping sound from the amp,if i hadn't of bought it(half price as an ex demo)from a very reputable uk dealer i would have said it was a cheap chinese copy, should've bought a martin!

Wrong!
Excellent review, especially the fingerstyle. i have one of these and i love it.
A little Amazing Grace in the style of Tommy Emmanuel. Nicely done. I'm looking into trading up to a 700 Series. Really fabulous sounding guitars.
Calibre de cuerdas usadas para esta guitarra ????

Is this the new V bracing 714? I've always kind of liked their X bracing. How do you compare the two? I personally like the 714 better than the 814.

Awesome review. I played one this afternoon and fell in love with the cedar top. Btw, what arrangement of Amazing Grace is that?
Oops. I meant to say "Amazing Grace" lol. Very beautiful. Do you have tabs for that?
Thanks Kevin. I don't have tabs at the moment but I've had a few requests so I'm thinking to do a lesson video for it. The lesson will have the tabs. Keep an eye out for late summer. All the best! - Diego

What is it that you are playing in the title sequence and at 7:18 right before amazing grace?
Sounds nice. By the way, what is the knee brace thing attached at the base of the guitar (where you cradle it on your knee)? Just curious. Thanks.
Please tell me what is that piece he has attached to the bottom of the guitar? I've used a number of things to keep my guitar from sliding forward but what he has there I think does more than that and I'd like to try it out.

Hi Sung, the guitar was strung with Phosphor Bronze guage 12 Elixir strings from the factory.

Thanks :)
Hi Jose, thanks for your question. It was initially recorded at 96khz, 24 bit. To be converted into .mov for RUclips it is converted to an AAC file 44.1khz, 320 kbps bit rate.

thanks Diego!!
The 14's are very ringy.
ive got a sunburst one and its definitely not worth £2500,the top is bowed at the bridge, the neck heel looks like it was shaped with a hacksaw on one side, the body has been over routed at the neck and filled with caulk and there is fret buzz at the 12th and thats with the action at about 6mm,if i so much as drop a pick on the top it get dented and the sound system is awful, the guitar gets dreadful feedback if the volume is on any more than half and the overall sound is thin and brittle and if you so much as lightly touch the bridge pins you get a loud rasping sound from the amp,if i hadn't of bought it(half price as an ex demo)from a very reputable uk dealer i would have said it was a cheap chinese copy, should've bought a martin!
You'e an idiot.
oops, I spelled that wrong, idot
Yes I am looking at the 714ce but your playing is a distraction.
Espero prostituirme y tener una de esas guitarras *-* i love your guitar
his face like adam levine...
Honestly it sounds aweful

U need hearing aids
What is "aweful"?
