Let me just say YOURE A MIRACLE WORKER!!! I was really struggling with a piece I have for an important audition coming up, and when I found this it worked IMMEDIATELY. I feel like I owe you something for saving my life lol
Wohlfahrt is a gold mine. I've been playing (and sometimes just attempting to play) for longer than I care to admit, and I still wind up revisiting Wohlfahrt ... uh, pretty much constantly, to be honest.
It's an absolute lie, oh yes there is some truth in it that if you can't play it slowly there is a problem. But guess what? I physically cannot seem to play faster, I have done music for years and the ability to play slowly and correctly does NOT equal the ability to play fast AT ALL.
This joke, while great for trolling the dude with a sparkly violin, has absolutely no place here, under a solid violin tutorial. TwoSet crowd need to recognize
You are amazing !! you inspired me to practice without getting bored because of no progress happening. Very good explanation I like it so much. Thanks...
You’re seriously a great teacher! I’m not a violinist but I’m thrilling to start soon! I hope you keep your channel active and share more tips with us! X
Honestly, I don't post all that frequently because I keep my website active with step by step instructions. If you live outside North America and Western Europe, we provide scholarships.
Omg , thank you for this video , I really needed this , as a older gentleman I was thinking it’s my age why I’m finding it harder for the quicker music , not as sharp like I used to be , this will help me heaps , thank you. 👍
Wow! This really worked!! It felt like my fingers were in quicksand before; now that the mental block is gone, my fingers can finally work that muscle memory and that section is all smoothed out! Thank you!!
Fantastic explanation! Thanks for this video! I teach something very similar: I call the blocks “grouping opportunities (GO’s) or “chunks”. (Every pedagogue has their own terminology for it). I also teach my students to look for Double Stop Opportunities (DSO’s): setting the hand frame to cover notes across multiple strings that will come rapidly inside a group of notes. Between DSO’s and GO’s, I then practice them in “bursts”, building up fluency, accuracy, and of course, speed. And then I also practice joining the chunks together (chunk A + B then I practice chunk B + C, then eventually A + B + C). Then they start to become entire ‘gestures’, (as you explained so well in this video.) I also test the connection between the groups just practicing the ending of A joining on the first few notes of B. And then I always remind myself of an important speed-building tip: using the *lightest finger pressure necessary* to execute the passage (what Nathan Cole calls ‘MVP’, ‘minimum viable pressure’). I see a lot of TwoSet Violin fans here. I’m a fan of them for sure and they are super awesome and talented, however the saying “If you can play it slow, you can play it fast” is misleading and inaccurate. It’s well-meaning (“Be sure to work on it slowly and ACCURATELY before you attempt to build speed” is what they mean), however, this video describes the proper way to build speed and play faster. Playing slow doesn’t give you the magical abilities to play a passage faster. You have to train ‘rapidity’ in the fingers… and this video demonstrates this very well. Thank you for this video. I’ve subscribed and will be sharing it with students! By the way, I’ve also described how to build speed in my live stream: Paganini 5 Challenge | How To Practice Paganini Caprice #5 - Day 3: Building Speed and Accuracy ruclips.net/video/VPEuPKcB7UI/видео.html I’m glad that there are other teachers on the same wave length!
I think TwoSet says that to mock this person on BBS who claims himself to be the "world's fastest violin" but in fact using an electric violin and being a total mess. ruclips.net/video/BvsvaCU6i1M/видео.html
I am so glad I did. I paid for the online classes and I am truly enjoying. How old were you when you begun playing the violin? What's the best advice for a 9 month old adult beginner? So encouraged! You are a shining jewel in the strings world! Bless your heart.
The thing about increasing processing speed by "blocking" off sections of music with different finger positions, that is fascinating! And also very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I just discovered your channel a few days ago. I am an adult just getting back into playing the violin again after many years. I think your videos are going to be very helpful. I wish I could have you as my personal instructor, as I think you are wonderful!
I do appreciate this! I'll be starting a Tchaikovsky fast piece soon and I was very unsure about how I would get and keep up to speed. Now I see a clear pathe ahead. Huge thank you. I will check out your practice course. G Ire (adult student)
I have to say that maybe is the only channel that provides to the point information for the violin playing (also very nice camera angles!).And i am thinking if she is helping so much fron videos how much is if teaching person-to-person.Thank you very much for all the work.Hope I would be close to you for some lessons. :)
I play mostly by ear, and never really learned to read music, although I can name the notes. It seems like this exercise could also help in learning to sight read. I'll have to give it a try, since I need help with speed as well.
Hi this is an excellent example for getting faster. The problem I have is keeping the fingers close to the fingerboard because I raise my fingers to high .
I'm an adult beginner. I took a few lessons, but then decided there was tons of information on youtube. I like cajun/bluegrass style music. So I play along on the Red Desert or Bluegrass Daddy youtube sites. If I'm trying to play 3rd finger on A and 1st finger on E with bow shuffling from A to E. How do I keep my 3rd finger on A from touching the E string?
Absolutely! When we actually play, fingers are independent. This doesn't make the fingers go down all at once, it just trains better and faster preparation.
So just to clarify as I make those blocks I have to divide them by when the fingers change location even if we’re in the same position, not only when we shift. Am I correct or did I misunderstand?
So make "blocks" with as many fingers as is doable at one time. Just section off groups and practice going from group to group. Use your sense of what would make as a good group.
i can move my fingers fast just as well as i can move my bow, my problem is to do it at the same time without having notes all messed up. have you gotten any tips?
Or find the last note a finger needs to play, then you can prepare by moving the fingers to their new location as they are no longer needed in the previous one.
All of my videos in the main Library on Violin Lab have Spanish subtitles! I have two translators who work constantly. This practice course will have the Spanish subtitles soon as well.
Absolutely amazing. It worked like magic not just for speed but cleaned up tricky passages. Thank you
This video helped me play Flight of the Bumblebee at 15 notes a second
If you can play it slowly, you can play it quickly
Ling Ling can do it 30 notes a second while watching the video

Remember guys, "If you can play something slowly, you can play it quickly".

The Wolfhart example was a great one! I learned that etude a few years back so I it was great to see a demonstration.

Wonderful amazing teaching!! It really functions!!!!
I love you! I always have problems when try to screase speed and now I know how to practice.
This lesson is so valuable when I struggle with making fast transitions. I'm off to practice 😀
I play mostly by ear, and never really learned to read music, although I can name the notes. It seems like this exercise could also help in learning to sight read. I'll have to give it a try, since I need help with speed as well.
It would make an excellent sight reading exercise actually!!
Thank you so much I've used a couple of technics that you have been teaching and they have helped me.
This very clear and I can't wait to get started.
your videos helped me a lot ,since i'm teaching myself~ you are a great teacher! your student from china.
I love violin videos where you don't need to hear the sound of the instrument.
Thanks for this data :)
I could not believe how clear it came out after this class. I didi it together with you, miss.
THANK YOU so much.
Thanks for very nice and sensible tips.
As a kid who just started playing the violin (prodigy in making) this could help me a lot
You are amazing. Thank you!
Thanks for the helpful tip!!
Many thanks Beth. I am joining.
Oh this is great. A fiddler player might also benefit from all this. You never mention it but I think keeping fingers low to the string also helps.
Best channel for learning violin. Thank you
you are like angels...
Thank you so much with this. I have to play a very fast passage in the piece I'm working on, but my fingers won't collaborate so it's really hard
Dear Bethy, would you do a tutorial for the piece 'Czardas, Vitorio Monti'?
Yes yes yes!
I still couldn't do that Piece after months of practicing it made me so angry
Excellent instruction!
9:21 how can I improve my bow speed?
This footage the technique and noted grouped that you introduced is so helpful and useful to me even I play cello. Thanks to you!
Hey....thanks. love you😘
Ok this actually helps me, so thank you!
THANK YOU so much.😍🤩
You're welcome!
I love your videos. Always very helpful to an aspiring lad such as myself
Hi this is an excellent example for getting faster. The problem I have is keeping the fingers close to the fingerboard because I raise my fingers to high .
I needed this ... I'll try this definitely
You are AMAZING!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!! 🙏❤️🎻

Can you do a Czardas tutorial please?
makes me part of Spiccato
Excelente video!!!
Did I miss something ? What piece is this in the Wolfhart book and why isn’t it played in it’s entirety so we can hear it ? 🤔
wow, very cool!
Great video! but one question, is it consistent with the idea that we play with independent fingering rather than block fingering?
Absolutely! When we actually play, fingers are independent. This doesn't make the fingers go down all at once, it just trains better and faster preparation.
Wonderful...
Thanks 4 Sharing Such A helpful Stuffs ...
Super film ! :)
Thank you!
I dont understand how all this can be better than just slow practice with strong attenton to the rythm and tempo
I mean true, you can't go wrong with slow practice... but I don't believe she said it was better? XD
This is brain training not muscle training she said that clearly at the beginning. You and your non understanding should stick to brute force learning
Thank you!!
I have literally just started out. This isnt my first instrument. Will this course be appropriate for me? Thanks. Love your vids btw.
Try the online piano and violin tutor she has beginner violin lessons
Please please please please please do a video on Vitorio Monti's Czardas!!!!!!!!! I'm having a really hard time on the sautille section!
Parabéns!!! Como sempre otimos vídeos! 🇧🇷

thank you so much would you please do it for piece of czardas?
Your chinrest looks very interesting. Where did you get it?
That's really helpful, thank you so much!
do you want also italian subtitles? I can provide them to you :)
Hi. Help me with Russlan and Ludmila please!!
This is extremely intelligent and adorable!!!
i can move my fingers fast just as well as i can move my bow, my problem is to do it at the same time without having notes all messed up.
have you gotten any tips?
Practice in very short bursts. One measure at a time. Shorten the amount of bow you/re using and that will propmt a faster tempo.
What location for lessonz?
You’re wonderful.
Obrigado
Name of this studies please
Great quality content
Thnx a lot Beth 😃
adoro vc sou sua fã,Brasil.
It feels wrong to watch this for free. Thank you so much
Thank you ♥️. Ha! I do have content on my platform you're welcome to pay for 🤣.

Me interessei, mas pelo fato do curso ser muito falado vou ter muita dificuldade por não ter legendas em português.

Hello. How much is to take lessons with you since the beginning?
This really is so useful for our practice, thanks !!!
Or find the last note a finger needs to play, then you can prepare by moving the fingers to their new location as they are no longer needed in the previous one.
subtitles in Portuguese (Brazil) in the course please
Would it be possible to get your method translated into Spanish? Really like your channel
All of my videos in the main Library on Violin Lab have Spanish subtitles! I have two translators who work constantly. This practice course will have the Spanish subtitles soon as well.
I will have the subtitles soon. I have one translator for all of my Violin Lab videos. He works hard so he will get to this one as well.
If you can play it slowly, you can play it quickly🐝
Hello! do you think this is transferable to cello? I think so?
Whovian Alyanna Definitely
Absolutely! It would be applicable to any instrument.
Thanks
What song is this?
Cool!
Allah razı olsun ablacım... :)
