Finally a video the day before my next workout! Usually you post videos the same day or a day after i finish a specific lift. Not this time, I have deads tomorrow 😃
Well...This is interesting. Dave did a video on Juji's conventional pull and that he needed to build his quads for the conventional pull. I've done the same since I have a similar stance to Juji and am reaping the benefits. My deadlift is nowhere near the strength I have in my hamstrings and I was at one time in a position where I straight-legged almost as much as I pulled conventionally. Now with the added quad work I'm nearing the 550lbs mark in conventional
I do love me some reverse bands. If I’m wrong - please tell me - but for reverse bands I like to set them up to where there’s almost no tension at the top. I’ve always felt that if you set up reverse bands with the same tension you set up traditional bands it’s too much assistance. I don’t exactly like starting a dead or unracking a weight with false confidence only to get crushed.
I do the wiggle setup like ed coan. I can manage to replicate the same technique and form even without pulling off the floor for a really long time. My best deadlift strengthening exercises are the block/rack pulls below knee cap, romanian deadlifts, Leg presses such as how andy does them (it really works well for me), ofc squats but quads dominant variations and a some heavy ass glute work. Also lats and upper back, I love to do barbell rows, shrugs and weighted pullups.
Great info to pass on👍, funny im more convential (how I first learned how to DL ) . Always felt it it take more out of you than sumo , we're all different I know that and it always good to mix up for hypertrophy and form improvement. Keep up the awesome content 👏 🏋♂️🏋️♀️💪
Hey Sam - sounds awesome and I like to try this - I also liked how doing two pull days and one lighter day can help form. I’ve been trying JM Blakey’s 3 sets of 3 on heavy days and lighter days 6 sets of 6 for lighter days. Before I acquire some bands - should I try just elevating the bar off blocks to help me off the bottom?? My 1 rep max is 405 - I’ve been working hard to push that further. I’m 5’7” - 155 lbs. should I work up to trying 405 off blocks for singles in your opinion?? Thanks for all your insight- your thoughts???
There are approximately 117 Elite FTS visible in this video. Counting both the “Squat Guy” logo & “Elite FTS” Counting both sides of plates and other doubles.
Hardest part of a dead isnt the lift, its LOWERING IT BACK DOWN. You know the part that 99.9% of you tools dont do. You guys jack this shit up, then drop it. Do you do half a bench press? Lower it down the let it lay there? No. Do the WHOLE REP. Lower it down, dont touch the floor then explode back up. If i can perform this with a blown out knee at nearly 50 years old, there are no excuses for anybody else.
Deadlift is the king of lifts 👑
Thanks for the clear-cut title on this video. Will make it easier to find again in the future. Great tips as always from Sam.
Just save it

Doing my best to build up DL, your vids help tons
Thanks Sam
Thanks, Sam. Great tips as always. Thank you for explaining WHY we do certain variations, and HOW those variations help the main lift. Invaluable !

That's the proper way to do it, helps you get used to holding heavy weight, but keeps you safe in the vulnerable part of the ROM
Great these videos, Sam with the goods again

Sam-sational video!
My hamstring popped really hard yesterday on deadlifts and now I’m down in the dumps was getting really close to a 700 lb pull.
We love Dave
Dave loves you too.
Does Elite FTS like 25lb plates because they're cheaper than 50lb plates?

5 plates is happening this year
Yaaaaahhhh
so my main issue is, every time i tighten my lats the bar comes off the ground until i have enough weight to keep me down, is that normal?
That means you are doing it correctly
@@MarcoPeyrano o, well alright then lol thanks 🤙
Yea I personally use that and a slight pause for a good warm up

Okay grandpa
50 is a grandpa? Man that sucks to hear, I’m 49. Not ready for grandpa status. 😞
