Always a pleasure to see you pop up in my feed Ben... I've been kinda missing your Sunday night random review.... You and Fragrancejourney01 are my guys I go to for shit I've never heard of (no pun intended) lol. Love it. Keep up the good work friend ...
Hey Ben, new subscriber but I have really liked your laid back approach for a while now. Nice list; Laudano Nero is great for fall/winter, and I feel Coeur de Noir from Beaufort is also suited for those seasons alongside Vi Et Armis. From my collection which is mostly niche, I may add a few some of which may be too animalic for some so beware: Hyde (Hiram Green), Oudh Infini (Dusita), Oud Loukoum (Bortnikoff), War & Peace (Areej le Dore), Teisenddu (Frassai), Madeiras di Oriente (PK perfumes), Fumidus (Profumum Roma), By the Fireplace (Maison Margiela), Hard Leather (Laurent Mazzoni- You are the only one who reviewed this one on RUclips), and last but not least Le Participe Passe (Serge Lutens). The last one is a hidden gem from Serge Lutens (to my nose- resinous, balsamic with uber-comforting spices bathing slightly caramelized young apricots). It is going for $78 for the 100ml bottle at discounters in the US!
I'm not into watching visual fragrance reviews rn, but boy do you pick those that I just can't resist! I love HL, it's more a scent than it is a perfume! to me it smells like a very exaggerated 'sex skin' 🤎 also I'm gonna save you some time and tell you the rest of their offerings are nowhere near this interesting. Are you on Basenotes?
Thanks man! I was actually interested to know what the others might be like, but they're a bit pricey just to satisfy curiosity for me, so cheers for that! I do read Basenotes a lot, but I don't have a profile, just a naff lurker sadly :)
Thanks a lot, Always respect your opinion and your channel, so high praise for me! They're sadly a bit steep in England too, I managed to pick this one up from France with the madly fluctuating exchange rates at the start of all this craziness that's going on, but I guess shipping from the EU isn't too cheap right down there huh?
I’ve been using Hard Leather for years… my partner likened it to smelling like a, dead damp camel when she first smelt it… then after an hour she loved it.. as I do .. great review.
I'm not into poo - but your description really intrigued me, right up until you mentioned the low projection - I want the world to smell me, so I won't be adding it to the sniff list 😂
haha yeah, I'd normally say I'm the same, this one is my only outlier I think! It definitely doesn't project, I'm quite into closer frags and it's even a bit too close, a bit too quick for me :(
@@TalkingScents I have a few perfumes that are just skin scents - but ultimately they just annoy me so I rarely wear them; Ideally I like perfumes to be as obnoxious as me, but that seems rare these days 😂 I've been on the hunt for a rough, dirty, sexy leather - but nothing has ticked all the boxes for me yet
I went through a rollercoaster of emotions watching this vid Ben. Intrigue, astonishment, disgust, the giggles, admiration, wonder, amusement... The word "fecal" must've come up like 30 times. 😂 A brilliant review man. 13:19 Nailed it. 💩🍯 But yeah, "she's a muggle" 😂😂😂
Have you smelled knize 10? Have I asked this before? That's got a wee bit of castoreum but also a kind of mechanical oil vibe. I want muscs koublai khan so very much. The price on them black bottles is a bit deer... lol
I've not ever tried Knize 10, it's one of those massive classics that I really need to get hold of, but always just forget about and buy random things instead lol. I do definitely want to pick it up though. MKK is depressing, I pretty much just pretend it doesn't exist nowadays and my life feels a lot better for that haha.
@@TalkingScents haha, it's like that unobtainable crush. 😔😂 Knize ten, motor oil, castoreum, smoke. I think you'd love. Stumptown smells did a great review of it
Yes! I think they've actually changed it about 3 times and they're quite drastic changes too. The old ones were more stubby, remind me a little of the Rasasi La Yuqawam sort of style. As far as I know though, the juice has always remained the same and there's no reforms or anything, luckily.
@@TalkingScents reformulation was going to be my next question! Checked on fragrantica and saw the rasassi bottles and noticed I've got this in my wanted list. It's an expensive scent, though. Even at notino its 200 plus! Ouch. The honey in the scent could be adding to the nasty vibe, people forgot that bees stink. Old school honey notes used to have that slightly off twinge about them, a few 80s powerhouses used honey in that way. Kouros, balenciaga pour Homme (90s but still), lapidus etc. Homey without the skank is just sucrose, another sweet note I.e honey aoud or L'envol
interesting review. Thanks. Have you compared Hard Leather to his Black Oud?
You should check out Malefic Tatto from this house. A Mind blowing dark fragrance.

It's a house that's interested me for a while, just can't find it anywhere in Australia. Nice review and enjoying the channel.

@@TalkingScents yeah it would be prohibitive right now. I will keep an eye out.
I've not heard anything about this but damn it has everything i love all bottled up! Appreciate you putting me on to this :)
Definitely man, just judging by the bits and bobs I pick up from your comments, I think this would be right up your alley :)

Another great detailed description, Ben. I'd have to say "Ew" but your review is still awesome! :)

I’ll have to look into this one some more. Sounds very interesting.
I definitely think this would be up your street, at least judging by your usual taste! 🙃

haha thanks man! tbh, the frag is a bit of a rollercoaster for me, so perhaps there's something to that!
I just bought it ❤️❤️❤️

Have they changed the bottle at some point?
