  • What do the Suntec City Fountain of Wealth, Marina Bay Sands, and the one dollar coin have in common? They all (allegedly) help the feng shui in Singapore.
Special thanks to Way Fengshui Group and Master Goh.

In Jurong East, there was a shopping mall named “Big Box” which was only around for a few years because it wasn’t doing well. My father told me that it was because the building’s entrance was facing the Eng Teng Fong Hospital which is believed that it would be bad and cause “death” to the business.

and the non superstitious reason is that they followed the malaysian malls style where every shop is directly under the mall, no noticeable brands around to get people to go to the mall

the gateway and duo tower building story is very similar to the bank of china tower and hsbc building in hong kong.. the bank odf china tower (which also designed by i.m. pei) also features sharp edges so hsbc bulding install maintanance cranes that shaped like canons pointing to the bank of china tower to fight he bad feng shui

    I'm intrigued.
Marina Bay Sands is a tri-tower construction, yet Malaysia's Highland Towers complex was also one too. So why is MBS still standing, and Highland Towers fell apart in 1993?

  • @musiclove94r
    @musiclove94r 2 года назад +2

My fengshui master however pointed out that the MBS's base was split into 2 and instead of the conventional one block, thus making the foundation bad (coz its split), so bad fengshui. The boat was hanging on top of the building where there's no water, so there is no point in putting the boat up high as it cannot take off.

    • @keizee107

Yeah, its a practice of manipulating atmosphere to boost productivity/relaxation/caution etc. For example you want lights with a slight warm tint in the living room and bedrooms but colder white lights in the kitchen and toilet. Or why you feel slightly uncomfortable with a low shelf above your head. Or why it would feel suffocating to have a chandelier above your dining table with a ceiling 3m high.

Really is full of bs. If you read the financials of Suntec REIT (which owns Suntec City) and Straco (which operates the flyer), you will see that their performance isn’t fantastic (especially for flyer). Fengshui is just playing in the psychology of people who don’t want to leave anything to chance, even if the solution is unscientific or borderline ridiculous. At best, it gives you confidence or ease of mind which may indirectly help you become prosperous. At worst, you are just giving money to snake oil salesman.

Unfortunately, Singapore does not have the space to accomodate everyone's feng shui needs and so only the nation as a whole as well as big corporations, developers can afford to design their buildings etc with fengshui in mind, while the average person suffers from likely poorly designed HDBs (with regards to feng shui)

I know a few types of people:
Fengshui believer A - died at a young age of 50+
Non-Fengshui believer B - still alive and healthy at 72
Fengshui believer C - poor, unemployed, rotting away with cigarettes (and ToTo tickets)
    Non-Fengshui believer D - stays in a $3m condo, rich white-collar banker
How come there are no proven effects of 'good feng-shui'?

I'd say it is not about all the fortune-invitation but about the ergonomics behind 风水 that is meant to enhance the lifestyle of the user in the smallest ways to improve their performance. Like how being able to sleep on a comfortable instead of an uncomfortable bed helps you to perform better in life, increasing your chances, but not guaranteeing your success.

Is it so difficult - for a narrator of obviously local Chinese descent - to pronounce Feng Shui and other words such as Qi in their original Chinese intonation, instead of an anglicized one? So much for an effective bilingual education system here in Singapore.

As we all know, LKY is a big liar and Cannon Fairy, he is a Peranakan but pretend to be Hakka. His Hakka culture so diluted bro.

    • @SamLiewXiaoSam

I don't think he is a liar. The hexagonal shape on the $1 coin could be by Fengshui, but perhaps he doesn't want to speculate it to say that it is caused by Fengshui and in the end making Singapore herself sound very superstition in the making
