Among the group of composers who made the popular music of the 20th century an art form, shine with the brightest light the names of G. Gershwin, D. Ellington and C. Porter. Their work,covering all music forms-from songs, instrumental pieces, musicals, symphony poems and operas, is classical in the true meaning of this word. Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, An Ameican in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue, Ellington's Orchestral Suites and Sacred Concerts, Porter's Kiss Me Kate and Arouns the World in 80 Days are milestones in the 20th century and not only. The pieces included in tonight's tribute are just a spec in the huge work of these three giants.

Από την ομάδα των συνθετών που διαμόρφωσαν τη μουσική της Αμερικής του 20ού αιώνα, ιδιαίτερα ξεχωρίζουν τα ονόματα των George Gershwin, Duke Ellington και Cole Porter. To έργο τους καλύπτει όλες τις μουσικές φόρμες (τραγούδια, ενορχηστρώσεις, μιούζικαλ, συμφωνικά ποιήματα, όπερες) και μπορεί να φέρει επάξια τον τίτλο του "κλασικού". Τα έργα Porgy and Bess, An American in Paris και Rhapsody in Blue του Gershwin, Orchestral Suites και Sacred Concerts του Ellington, Kiss me, Kate και Around the World in 80 Days του Porter αποτελούν σημαντικό λίθο για την τέχνη της μουσικής στον 20ό αιώνα και όχι μόνο.
Οι συνθέσεις που περιλαμβάνονται στο σημερινό αφιέρωμα είναι ένα μικρό δείγμα από το τεραστίων διαστάσεων έργο των τριών αυτών μουσικών κολοσσών.
