My boxer had acute Pancreatitis for years. Panakare was an enzyme product that kept her stable for a long time. If you don’t mind me asking, how long did your pup live with the mess in the spleen before it ruptured? My Doxy is in the exact same position, for a couple of years, I thought he had pancreatitis, which he did and has been treated for a couple of times and I switched his diet. But one day his pain was unbearable and I had to rush him to the vet because he collapsed. They said he had a Mass on his spleen. They want to remove it before it ruptures but I don’t know if he would survive the surgery because he is 13 with a severe heart murmur and pulmonary hypertension. I am wondering how long he can live with this mass on his spleen

My labradoodle has had 2 bouts of this. I'm so glad to know what else I can do to prevent it from happening again! Thank you so much for your videos, I've learned so much from you already & refer to your videos quite often. We don't have a vet like you anywhere close to us, I wish we did.
Thanks! I've been watching your videos and taking notes. My dog has inflammatory bowel disease and is on steroid therapy and metronidazole. Recently we found out he now has pancreatitis and a second UTI in a span of 5 months. It's been an uphill battle for 5 long years with multiple veterinary and internal medicine specialists. I'm hoping some of these remedies can help alleviate other secondary problems I am seeing after turning his immune system down.
Thank you for covering this topic. My 12 yr. old Golden, Lucy was diagnosed in May with pancreatitis. Rather than switch her low fat food to something the vet carried, which was full of the ingredients I would never feed my dog, the vet said to look at the treats she was getting. Sure enough that is where we were doing wrong. We are now very careful with her diet. Lucy is already on 2 of the supplements you recommended but will be put on the others. We don’t want to have her suffer through that again.
Diane I was told to keep it under 20% fat. One treat being a chicken stick which was 27% high in fat. I was also giving her occasional ice cream treat. I switched her to frozen yogurt with 1% fat as an occasional treat. Most pet foods and treats, if not all, will list on the pkg the fat content. Keep it very low. Unfortunately we lost Lucy end of last November, not related to pancreatitis, and miss her so much.
My Chinese crested / American hairless has pancreatitis and my 3 year old sneaks her pieces of food because she’s begging constantly, it’s so frustrating! About once a week she’s feeling sick and almost vomiting. I’m going to give her these vitamins! Thanks so much!
My dog is cured from it by eating cooked broccoli everyday in her home made dinner . She also eats raw green vegetable leaves. I mix the broccoli with cooked chicken lever. And the green leaves with cooked chicken meat. She also eat chicken bone. I feed her also raw red meat. I also feed her vitamin C . She is 14 and never skips meal any more. She used to get sick and skipped meal every 3 days before and vomited yellow stomach thing in the morning, but not any more after eating cooked broccoli.

Colloidal silver ear drops work well as does the home made shampoo suggested. I’m making the anti itch cream as well. Many thanks

Dr. Jones, My 5 yr old rottie, Maddie, just had her first episode of pancreatitis and we almost lost her as it was very severe. I just ordered you ultimate canine supplement would you recommend I give her the other supplement you mentioned along with your supplement? I want to thank you for giving us these videos and educating us on how to use home remedies and supplements instead of big pharma medicine. I have learned a lot from you. I can't thank you enough. God bless you Dr. Jones.
Dr. Jones,. I value each and every one of your videos, but this had so much information, given too fast and not explained enough on what/which of the supplements do I use ongoing, or when flare ups occure? I know you are speaking in general terms, and would need particular info on individual cases. I guess I just addressed my problem! You gave suggestions, not diagnosies. That I can appreciate...and without a vet bill!❤️ I had just spent $3000 to get my Chihuahua out of danger, with pancreatitis. Now months later, it seems to be cropping up again, after I thought I was doing everything I could to prevent it. I know I'm going on and on. Bottom line: I sincerely appreciate the great work and service you provide. God Bless.
@@terrybear5398 As an occasional meat source raw beef is fine but it has a high fat content. My guys eat mostly chicken I buy in bulk whole, necks, liver, hearts and gizzerds too. I do cut quite a bit of fat off and try to limit it to about 10-15% fat per plate. I use a good pair of poultry shears that makes it easy it cuts up the bones to mouth size. I just don't recommend feeding weight bearing bones they can crack teeth but get the marrow out!. It's amazing how bones make good teeth cleaners and believe me I followed their butts around in the early days when I first started feeding raw and never found a piece of undigested bone in their poops. From what I know cooked fats are not good for dogs to digest I hear lots of dogs have allergies to chicken one of my girls did too but not in raw form. I know some vet medications specifically anti inflammatories were blamed for causing pancreatitis.

Thank you so much for informing us about pancreatitis. My 10 year old Yorkie has this he stayed at the veterinarian on iv fluids for 4 days and nights. We was worried sick. He had another episode and had a seizure! I was wandering having a seizure is this normal or could be something else? So far he is doing better Thanks
My 3yo cavoodle was diagnosed with pancreatitis this morning. The vet gave her an anti-nausea shot and did a blood test to find her high white blood cell count. The vet didn’t think she needed to be admitted to hospital unless she vomited again, became lethargic, stopped eating or stopped pooping. In the 12 hours since, she hasn’t showed any signs of that and has already had the first 2 doses of her antibiotics. I’m so worried for her but I have faith she’ll be ok. Going to start making her food from home because I believe she’ll recover fully from this, but I can’t let it happen again
@@firebird4240 yes! She’s doing so so much better. Unfortunately it wasn’t just pancreatitis, it was chronic IBD and gastritis so she has flare ups and is allergic to most proteins. But she’s on a novel protein diet and is slowly weaning off her steroid doses. She’s so much better now!
My dog has pracreatitis and I wanna buy your supplement enzymes, buy do you give it everytime he/she eats. Is it before or with the food? Thanks in advance
Where can u get all those? I have a wolf and she had a bad bout of it. They just gave her antibiotics She was in vet hospital for 2-3 days. She will be 14 in Jan. Would she need all those? Thank you ❤️
Thank you for sharing your invaluable information on this topic. Where is the link to the probiotics and krill oil you mention. I would like to start my dog on these ASAP.
Can my cat get pancreatitis from my sons dog. Her stools are getting soft . She also has some strange bumps on her nose. Have been putting coconut oil and .5 steroids on her nose. Also is coconut oil ok for her? It keeps her teeth clean, use a dab about a quarter teaspoon. My sons corgi had a very mild case of this. What treats would you avoid? His dog eats gullet sticks and old mother Hubbard bones. You are so awesome! Love your videos! ❤
Dr. A. J PLEASE tell me what I can do for my precious boy whose's losing his vision quickly. One eye is completely white and he can't see at all in darkness. My vet is sending us to the eye clinic near us but I'm hoping you can help with something I can do in the meantime. I tried the MSM but it didn't help.
Gosh always such good info and explained well. Thank you! Oh yeah I've had an E-mountain bike for little while now and was motivated by your video the other day to go get a helmet. Will also be putting together a small pack with the first aid goodies. Again, thanks ♡
My dog is on prednisolone and off and on metronidazole. Was put on the prednisolone because I refused yet another expensive procedure! I’m thinking these prescription dog food companies, big pharma and some vets are all about the money and not your pet who is like a family member. They play on your love for your pet to get you to keep getting tests, shots and meds that harm your pet keep you coming back. Thank God for holistic vets
Well Emma is gone now. Her medication stoop working and the pancreatitis was out of control. In my opinion it may have morphed into cancer. I had her 11.5 yrs. Miss her so much 🥺You make me smile Noodles 😘
Doctor, my beauty, Tipsy, postures a lot and has had blood in her urine a couple times. Our vet prescribed just straight boiled chicken. What is your prognosis for such symptoms?
Hi Dr. Jones, I received today the Enzymedica Digest Basic Essential Enzyme Formula. I watched your video again and you recommended 1 capsule for 50 lbs dog/ day. My dog is 25lbs. Can I just divide the capsule in half and add it to his meal? Thank you
My 14 year Pomeranian Heidi has been on both of your supplements for years now. She did have some pancreas problems but I think I might have given her some treats I shouldn't.
@@VeterinarySecrets I also had my Chihuahua "Hannah" them as well. From her litter I believe most had heart problems. (Breeder did no background check on possible health problems that would pass on to the litter). I believe Hannah lived the longest of them all because of your supplements. Really the very most important thing to me is to have my dogs live the healthiest and longest lives possible. 💟🐶🐾💟

Can you test for pancreatitis when your dog is well or will it only show more prominant results (aka inflammation, blood levels etc) when they are ill? Also is it common at any age? As my 1yr old pup has had 2 bouts of what seem alot like pancreatitis.
A neighbor gave my dog a bacon treat a few years ago and it triggered an attack. My Havanese ended up on IV and spent a night at vet hospital. Almost died. No more commercial treats for him unless it’s a basic small milk bone.
PLEASE advise what to do for our little 17 year old dachshund suffering with blindness from cataracts and pancreatitis? She has been recently treated by 2 (one holistic) veterinarians and had a 2 day stay at emergency vet clinic. They prescribed that unhealthy Hill I/d canned food which has corn starch and rice and sugar in it! Our dog did eat it for a few days, but the last 2 days now she cannot eat anything. I tried feeding her 3 other freeze dried raw organic high end dog foods soaked in water but she won’t eat anything. I tried putting a natural Liver support supplement powder, with milk thistle in it, in her mouth yesterday which her sister has added to her food for the past couple months successfully for her. I gently put dog eye healing drops in our blind dog’s eyes twice daily which has successfully alleviated her eye swelling and redness. She does drink a lot of water (filtered through our Berkey filtration system that leaves the minerals in) and she has urinated normally through day and night. But she’s losing weight fast, very weak, sleeping most the day and night, and can barely walk around. We’ve spent thousands of dollars we could not afford for veterinary care and have been trying everything we have researched to do…. It’s Sunday today. The holistic vet will be back in office on Tuesday. Please help what we can do to keep our dog alive and comfortable while we wait to take her back in to holistic vet in 2 more days from now? How my days can a dog live on water without any food? Should we take her back in to the emergency vet clinic today? Should we let nature take it’s course and allow her to pass here at home if that’s the next step? What should we do to best help our beloved elderly dog? Please help. Thank you.
I read on the AKC website that some studies show probiotics can exacerbate pancreatitis, can you please comment on this? My dog had a bout of it just recently and had an bad case 5 years ago. We switched him to a raw diet and it’s worked for years, until now. This time around he needed two rounds of sub Cu fluid, antacid and and it vomiting meds . Bland diet was not working until I started boiling the meats and chopping finely. So lean beef, fish turkey and chicken thighs boiled in salted water and chopped with smashed sweet potato. That ultimately worked and he is still recovering and regaining weight, I will be adding some of these supplements as well. Thanks for all your great info ❤
have a schnauzer that weights 17 pounds with pancreatitis, vet put him on a prescription science diet. Don’t like the fat that science diet is corn based. What food/ diet would you recommend and what amounts of meds would you recommend for a 17 pound dog. Thanks so much. 😊
My dog who is 3 years old he is a mix bichon & shih tzu was recently diagnosed with chronic Pancreatitis he is now on Pancreved Power and I had to switch to dry dog food. I had always gave him FreshPet grain free food and I think that's what made him sick. He lost like 6 pounds in like 2 months but not that he is on this med he is back to normal. Do you suggest that I continue with this med? Or do you recommend something else?
@missmarielyne6697 I stopped giving him dry food /kibbles that the vet recommended but since June I started cooking his food but my issue now is I don't know how much too feed him and I am afraid that I might be feeding him too much and he might missing vitamins and nutrients that he needs. I also recently started buying ollie food, but it's expensive. Any advice or ideal?
I have a 5 lb Yorki/Silky who has had pancreatitis for years now. Hospitalized twice. I just read that organ meat is bad, guess what the prescription diet. Was told to give her has in it!! Making my own food now. What dose of digestive enzyme and the other supplements I mentioned do I give my Emma?
Digestive Enzymes for dog helps mine from Amazon and only dog food diet no other snacks or rawhide or doggie biscuits nothing, but don’t follow directions on jar it might be too strong at first I just sprinkle tiny amount on food one time per day. And it’s working. It says scoop and that’s wayyy too much my dogs benefiting by a sprinkle one time per day!
@@VeterinarySecrets will giving my dog your essential fatty acids prevent pancreatitis in the future and not add more of the digestive enzymes or vitamin b12, or probiotics?
Dr. Jones, thank you for your guidance… My husky has had a couple of episodes of pancreatitis, but no longer since I changed her diet to homemade food. She has been tested but not diagnosed with EPI, but she has all the classic symptoms of EPI. She has been doing pretty well with pancreatic enzymes, probiotics, b-12, and anti acids. I believe she now has developed nausea because she has lost her appetite, drools, and eats grass. Can you please advice on what can be given to relieve her nausea? Thank you
Had same problem with my four dogs .was feeding home cooked meals I thought was better than dog food but it's the cooked fats that are bad. Get the dog on raw meat you'll see huge difference.
@@srdailypracticeceramics I feed raw turkey every part in exception to the head and weight bearing bones. The weight bearing bones are possible tooth breakers but all the other bones go in its important for calcium magnesium and phosphorus in their diet. The bones are 100% digestible just should be given with a proper ratio of meat skin and fat and organs, I have 4 chihuahuas only one boy needs he's bones cut up into smaller pieces for he's a gobbler and he'll swallow big pieces and thank god somehow to no I'll effect. I think for nausea you could try tumeric powder I sprinkle some on my guys food they seem to even like it but we don't have the nausea issue. I imagine I would be suspicious of something in the diet causing the nausea maybe treat related or medication possible flea treatment or pesticide exposure gosh my mind will wonder. I just hope it's nothing serious and wish you guys all the best!
On second thought if I was having the nausea issue with one of my guys I would halt all intake of medicine and supplements, treats and food basically anything eaten or absorbed and feed a good raw human grade not cooked meat diet. Maybe delete one thing at a time to isolate and identify the actual culprit just a thought best wishes.
I was told its not always just the fat. Amino Acids from protein can trigger pancreatitis just at bad.... As can a high carbohydrate diet and even stress.
I lean towards the types of fat the dog is eating... I researched extensively when I was looking into home-made dog food choices, and I found out that dogs assimilate animal fats like Humans assimilate oils... Dogs can't digest oils well... and I realize that my dog throws up whenever he has had too much of the wrong fats; cheese; or junky over-the-counter dog "treats"...I mean, when you study how canines eat in the wild; the first part of the kill that they go for is the organs; the kidneys, the intestines and what's in them, because the intestines are loaded with enzymes and beneficial nutrients; and then they go for the grizzle and fats,, they eat less of the actual fleshy meat... dogs don't eat pig natually; and, in fact they eat very little red meat like cow, or deer, or sheep; etc... their diet consists mostly of small prey; rodents, birds, bugs, lizzards, etc... I also noticed that my scamperlicious will have a bout of vomiting when he's had a full red-meat meal, and his favorite food is chicken gizzards and hearts... so, I have decided to back down on the red meats, and increase the chicken and turkey... He won't eat fish; so that's out... I add in liver ( he loves it) and kidneys ( he eats the sweat breads in the middle raw)...and, either a little rice or barley ( barley is an excellent nutrilizer... I will help balance out the PH and is very digestible) I'm finding an over-all milder easier digestable diet is best....With very little veggies... I use them mostly to add a little flavor; He usually leaves them on the plate; so that'll tell you that they aren't really needed) I am also changing his dry kibble formula; actually, I am going to blend two together... I feed him Acana /red meat, because he has a heart mumur; but I think it's probably too rich; so I am adding another formula of theirs called "feast" which is a blend of poultry... the only thing it doesn't have is rabbit; which I would love to find because that is a meat that is natural for canines to eat, and easy to digest... If your dog throws up once in a while; it's not a time to panic... that's just his body righting itself; but be aware of what he is digesting, or trying to....
There are Omega3 supplements that already come with Astaxanthin. Most krill oils contain Astaxanthin because this anti oxidant naturally occurring in krill. theomega3supplement.com/ingredients.php

I know you are speaking in general terms, and would need particular info on individual cases. I guess I just addressed my problem! You gave suggestions, not diagnosies. That I can appreciate...and without a vet bill!❤️
I had just spent $3000 to get my Chihuahua out of danger, with pancreatitis. Now months later, it seems to be cropping up again, after I thought I was doing everything I could to prevent it. I know I'm going on and on. Bottom line: I sincerely appreciate the great work and service you provide.
God Bless.
I have 4 chihuahuas get them on raw meat diet you'll save them
@@dann8902 Thanks! I will seriously look into that. Bet raw, 100% grass fed beef is best?

He had another episode and had a seizure! I was wandering having a seizure is this normal or could be something else? So far he is doing better Thanks
Don’t give hemp oil or check ingredients on anything your feeding, dogs can have reactions, but check & call different vets and ask over phone
How is your doggy doing now? Did you find a diet or regime that worked?
@@firebird4240 yes! She’s doing so so much better. Unfortunately it wasn’t just pancreatitis, it was chronic IBD and gastritis so she has flare ups and is allergic to most proteins. But she’s on a novel protein diet and is slowly weaning off her steroid doses. She’s so much better now!

My dog is on prednisolone and off and on metronidazole. Was put on the prednisolone because I refused yet another expensive procedure! I received today the Enzymedica Digest Basic Essential Enzyme Formula. I watched your video again and you recommended 1 capsule for 50 lbs dog/ day. My dog is 25lbs. Can I just divide the capsule in half and add it to his meal? Thank you

Can you test for pancreatitis when your dog is well or will it only show more prominant results (aka inflammation, blood levels etc) when they are ill? Also is it common at any age? As my 1yr old pup has had 2 bouts of what seem alot like pancreatitis.

Will these all work for my 17 yr old kitty?
She does drink a lot of water (filtered through our Berkey filtration system that leaves the minerals in)
and she has urinated normally through day and night.
Thank you.

Hi, Dr.

No 1-2 at a time
For life?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You're welcome:)
What can I do to treat pancreatitis in cats?

Corn is an improper diet for dogs and kibble is poison. Get your dog on raw meat diet it's the cure

I would not give him dry food... that's the worst you can give for pancreatitis

Digestive Enzymes for dog helps mine from Amazon and only dog food diet no other snacks or rawhide or doggie biscuits nothing, but don’t follow directions on jar it might be too strong at first I just sprinkle tiny amount on food one time per day. @@dann8902 Yes, I had her on raw food years ago, she did well. I cook her low fat meets, mostly turkey. Can I introduce raw turkey in her diet? Thanks

My cat has 1289 U/L amylase. Doctor gave Zymopet..What else can I do ? I live in India.
can I give these to my diabetic dog?
Yes in moderation
