One of the worlds best engines, that and its SOHC little brother.
Not unusual for some of the older Fiat DOHC engines to be able to rev up to 10,000 rpm.
And that, lads and gents, is tuning. 250 hp from a 1.8 with no turbo or supercharger. My congrats.
old man...long experience...the best :-)
Rivals the 4age 20V Formula Atlantic? I love the powerful small 4 bangers that rev to the moon... They are so badass!!!!
Love how the slides work..!!
freaky throttle ! Bravissimo for "the old school bench test"
Long time ago, in racing.
Since the 60s, all race systems were like K/KE-Jetronic or Kugelfischer-like - mechanical injector system, sometimes with electronical controls. The only sensors usually were TPS and crank angle. Most race engines run at full throttle all the time, so part load is not important for them. AFR sensors are attached when tuning engines and then are thrown away. The system on this engine is more like Kugelfischer injection.
AFRs are needed for turbos, N/As are predictable.
DoriFord good old Kugelfischer 🙂
Thats MENTAL!! Want one!! Sounds fantastic too!! :)
Awesome itb setup, looks like slides from flatslide carbs rather than butterflys.
In effetti tirare fuori da un aspirato 1800 (anche 2000 cc) 250 HP a 10.000 giri non è da tutti.
Complimenti.
@SpikeZeek Seriously beautiful room. I love the oversize gauge, makes the engine look like it's competing in some carnie strongman game.
... Bell' lavoro ragazzi, facciamo vivere le belle mecaniche Italiane.
Peak hp 265 @ 9000rpm
and peak Rpm 255 hp @ 10000rpm
I like the Dyno Also The idea Its making that Power.Love it. c]:-)
this engine sound like Fantastic Italian Automotive Technology.
@snap2n it is a "hybrid" The engine outer is "Torque" Euro2 Bravo/Brava 1.6 16v engine (86.4mm bore and 67.4mm stroke, 182A4000) without the stock intake and throtle body, within the Euro3 Stilo 1.6 16v engine's crankshaft (80.5mm bore and 78.4mm stroke, 182B6000). Nowdays it is sold in the same setup in Brazil in Fiat Linea as 1.9 16v (1838ccm, 86.4mm bore and 78.4mm stroke).
Both are based on the old "Fiat SOHC" engine from 1969 (Fiat 128).
Sounds like it's gonna be an awesome build though. :)
Now THIS is beautiful...
Very impressive!
that is nice runners! never seen trottlebody like that.
hm, nevermind that.
the 1.6 16v comes in 2 versions, larger bore, smaller stroke, and vice versa, by combining the larger bore block and the longer stroke crankshaft you get this beast.
Yeah i know that stuff. Nice to see someone actually knows his stuff around here for a change. :)
What i was implying was that they manage to squeeze out that power, at those revolutions by only predicting what the air/fuel ratio is. It's quite incredible achieving this just by looking at spark plugs, listening to the engine, looking at temperatures and so on. I guess wideband sensors are crippling today's tuners in a way too. ;)
this video is cool.i tuned my fiat brava 1.6 120hp and put a turbo charger and a nos system
these throttle bodies are BEAUTIFUL
troppo bello
6 'o'clock valve bounce!!!nice
If you're running a restrictive filter.
The filter is off to eliminate a possible power restriction, as well as it being a nearly perfectly clean room for testing. Filters go back on the engine when it's installed of course.
That's a brave 10000 rpm
Fukin nice man
@racekarl
I like it. Old school, before all the computers and technological doodads. :)
THAT WAS A WHOLE CAR IN THE MORNING. during lunch break all the PANELS RUSTED AWAY
Old Schenk hydraulic dyno...but I wouldn't complain...it still does the job quite well.
Is this the Gen-III 128 block?
I could do with a reliable lump for my X1/9. ;-)
Love seeing the injectors fire
bello
Perfect engine for an ultralight.
@Veikra no my friend, thats EFI, you can see the injectors on the velocity stacks
You use parts from
182.B6.000 engine. smart :)
Youre absolutely right. I have a 91 mr2 turbo, and have constant problems. either its eating an alternator, or it wont build oil pressure. Always a problem.
Sounds like your friend have been watching Wangan Midnight. ;)
@hobizoli The 16v "Torque" engines are CrossFlow desinged cylinderhead
does this have a stand alone ecu because if the itb's?
Skip to 1:35 for the good part
Always listen to the old guy in the shop he usually knows his shit lol.
AFR can be judged on exhaust gas temperature aswell.
Yup, that all wasn't far from carburetors, which had the same way of tuning. but you could guess the A/F ratio via adjusting jets. An additional turn can mean that some bigger jet can be used for adjusting and so on. A friend asked me to tune Nissan L28 3.1L inline-6 with 3 dual carbs, so I had to learn the stuff. Because he also asked me to twin-turbocharge this engine afterwards, with carburetors, lol! But I'll be using AFR sensors anyway.
Avrebbe senso?
yes....!! unfortunately small high revin engines tend to hav a short life spand...but if u look after it well..... it shud last long enough for u to enjoy that thrill...that a high rev NA engine cn offer...!!
Looks like 8 v head, aren't the intakes and exaust opposite on the 16v?
Wow, sequential mechanic fuel injection with ITB's and a really experienced old dude making the adjustments to it. And to top it off, the thing is being dynoed in an old school engine dyno. :D
dios como respira me quita el aire
That's maybe true.. But the italians were the first, who used small high revving engines, like the Abarth 1000TC
what is that the da Vinci dyno?? 1482 special?
1.6 16v, 1.8 crankshaft ;)
fiat OWNED
i wonder can this fit in my bravo GT????
was this engine built to compete with the TRD/Hasselgren 4AGE?? because the hasselgren still builds 4AGE 1.6 litres that output 250HP/260HP
You got it.I think is not going to compete but someone is trying to copy build one. That Fuel ssytem is needing some development
Good luck with your fiat. lol
@gm556 It's actually not a "v16" its an inline 4 cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder, hence 16v. Hope that helps.
🔝🔝🔝🤩
Is that the smoke from the combustion cycle trying to escape through the ITB's? Ive seen other vids of engines with ITBs and the same effect occurs.
Nah, I think it works a bit like carbs, with fuel being sprayed directly into the intake. You can see fuel lines going to each of the throttle bodies, and the more they're opened, the higher the pressure and the more the engine sucks air/fuel, thus giving the impression of smoke.
It's the resonance effect of atomized fuel. You're seeing a sound wave keep the atomized fuel pulsing in such a way it looks much like smoke lingering. Much like when you watch a wheel go through different speeds on a highway it can look like they are going slower, or even stop spinning altogether.
You can have reversion, but you're only talking max of a few percent which is more likely to happen at other RPMS and not where it's designed to make peak performance.
of which was withdrawn this engine?
que es lo que mide esa balanza?
what kind of intake is this?
How much does that engine weigh..?
@natjzam i stand corrected. dont see too many vehicles with manual fuel injection out side of some hot rods and rat rods.
SINCE 1967!!!
Honda S800 VIR LM...revs to 11000rpm with output power of 120bhp.
Stock S800 producing 85bhp@9000rpm
Pinin500 was talking about a different engine, with 800HP from 1.8L.
Now that's a fuckin' great mechanic with a fuckin' great engine.
Awesome. Just awesome...
Wait, what? Since when does TPS replace AFR?
@ni99anugget not necessarily there are plenty twin cam 8V engines ford ran some in theyre rally cars in the early 70s but yeah THIS engine is 16v
Feels like a waste of money to convert it if he has already got an awesome N/A L31. The response and sound of an N/A L series is priceless.
@pisteroytuniador
proof? video?
@zapwatt
The point is that B18c from Integra is capable reach 265bhp with J'S Racing tuning. I don't know why you force the 1984 year...but Honda was produced S800-M model in 1970 with 800ccm with rated power to 120bhp@10k rpm, that means 150bhp/liter.
quiero un motor asi!!! increible
I Love The Injectors
@bigfreddybear What about the awesome Ford BD engines? The 2.0 liter version has over 300bhp!
Looks really like the 1,6 16V maybe bored to 1,8l or the Zylinderhead is from the 1,6 but the 1,8l looks different
Its a circa 2000 1800cc 16v engine from a fiat bravo
@moonerdizzle its actually Mfi not EFI, no electronics there mate
fiat punto abarth: normaò street car with 180hp and 1.4 liter....american v8 are 8 liter and 200hp. this engine is without turbo and 250 hp
from what car is that engine???...looks litle strange...dont look mi like 1.8 16v from tipo
@moonerdizzle Manual fuel injection?? would that be a guy pumping fuel manually :P
Its a mechanical fuel injection, most likely similar to a kugelfischer used in the 70s.
@thing503 my m8s car what is a 2.0L T and its a Vauxhall Astra VXR and that has 250hp
@Astromchaser oh yes it does
for what are you doing this ?
That's one hell of a engine dyno, all mechanichal... not digital or computer
this is fiat brava
@gc1242 Would be a German engine?
hes talking about the lancia EVC, a turbo rally proto car.
Wich two engine is the base of this "beast" (code)?
