The alternate final boss of the game, and probably one of my favourite fights too. As always, I wanted to do this no damage without going for a parry focus, and I feel this way is probably safer for most people to use too. Phase 1 is relatively simple, but phase 2 can get a bit chaotic. However, if you kite the boss around, there's certain attacks you can easily punish, while not being overwhelmed by everything else.
I'll have the final all bosses compilation up over the weekend. It was a great game overall, which I enjoyed a lot. It's easily the best Soulslike that isn't directly by FromSoftware, and has unique systems to make it excel. The weapon crafting system was brilliant, allowing for a wide range of builds and weapon combos. It wouldn't say it was perfect either, as there's a couple of things that put me off a little bit (namely getting stuck on enemy hitboxes and attacks being very un-intuitive to read). On top of that, you could argue that the parry window should be a little more generous too. But outside of that, I found it very impressive from a game design standpoint that two completely different playstyles can approach these bosses with no damage, which is mainly what I wanted to test and showcase in my playthrough. Whether you go aggressively parry focused, or pace out dodging, both approaches can achieve the same results of success.
Lastly, there's a lot of misinformation about how to obtain all 3 of the endings (mostly around the "Free From The Puppet String" ending, but hopefully I can clear this up here). With backup saves, you can obtain all 3 endings in a single playthrough. The ONLY things you need to do for the "Free From The Puppet String" ending is choose the "Let Sophia Live" option after Laxasia (this will prevent your hair from turning grey). After that, tell Simon Manus "You liberated her from Arche Valley" when defeating him, and "Refuse" to give Geppetto your heart. This will let you fight the Nameless Puppet, and trigger that ending. You do NOT need to tell truths for the entire playthrough, it is only at these moments that count. I told lies at every single point of my campaign, listened to every record along the way, and all I did was go back to the save I had after Laxasia to follow those steps, and it gave me the ending. When I did the opposite for Sophia, my hair turned grey, and I was able to obtain the other two endings.
Your hair going grey is both dependent on the option you pick for Sophia, and your humanity being high enough. If your humanity is too low prior to this point, your choice won't matter, and your hair will still turn grey, and you'll still get the Free From The Puppet Strings ending.
So to get all 3 endings, choose lies for the entire playthrough. Listen to all of the records, and get your humanity up. Create a back-up save directly after defeating Laxasia (before visiting Sophia). You must have your humanity high enough at this point. To get the "Real Boy" & "Rise of P" endings, choose the "Give Her Peace" option when visiting Sophia. This will turn your hair grey, assuming you told lies and got your humanity up. Progress through the game and defeat Simon Manus. Create another back-up save before speaking to Geppetto.
First, give him your heart. This will complete the "Real Boy" ending. Make sure to return to Hotel Krat and get the items and achievements from there.
Go to your backup save before Geppetto, and this time refuse to give him your heart. Defeat the Nameless Puppet, and this will trigger the "Rise of P" ending. Again, go and explore Hotel Krat after, before going to NG+.
Finally, go back to your back-up save after Laxasia, before Sophia. Choose the "Let Her Live" option (this will prevent your hair from going grey). Defeat Simon Manus again, tell him you Liberated her from Arche Valley. Defeat Nameless Puppet again, and you'll get the "Free From The Puppet String" ending. It does mean you have to defeat Simon Manus & Nameless Puppet twice, but it's still much quicker than two full playthroughs.

It is mandatory for any aspiring soulslike game of renown to have a boss with the word "Nameless" in its title, and its always badass.
nameless king
I have to say, the fact that you actually moved back and had the patience to wait until the next opportunity to give the final blow while the boss was litteraly 1 HP shows how much dedication and will it takes to reach such a level of mastery.
When I finally get to the point where I know I can beat the boss, I suddenly get more aggressive and rash. I've died so many times knowing I wasn't beign careful, but just being carried away with the thrill of an anticipated victory. Your style is very inspiring. Thank you for the nice video!
I've been trying to beat this puppet for 3 days whithout succes. I managed to get through phase 1 but the seconde phase is a real nightmare. It seems so easy when I look at you. Incredible !
As someone who struggled for hours and had to go to bed and come back to this another day. My big mistake was spamming roll in a panic. When he flies at you with quick combos in phase 2, relax, breathe, and input one dodge at a time, only use the 2nd dodge (roll) if you know the attack will land. I kept getting overwhelmed in phase 2 and in the end I realised those combos arent as insane as they seemed the first few hours, but by panic rolling I was getting hit way more. There is a lot of time to heal when you change that.
Also: that purple parry grindstone to use when he's dual-wielding helps if you play very aggressive.
If in doubt, study his phase 2 attacks in this vid. I know people say phase 1 is easy but it's extremely aggressive and mentally draining if you like to stand toe-to-toe with enemies. I decided if I need more than 1 heal for phase 1 it's time to wipe and try again (but went to phase 2 anyway to see the attacks)
Edit: also, you got this 😎
Only 3 days 😂 I've been stuck on this shit for 8 days now.. It's embarrassing the lack of skill I have.
Easily my favourite boss in the game, this fight is unforgiving and phase 2 is absolute chaos. GG!!!
Phase 2 is one of the hardest fights ever in gaming.
BUuuuuuuuuut How Eso??? That's Insane. I said this before but your patience is remarkable!! Good Play
I wish there was a boss rush mode. Maybe in the future.
That would be awesome
I've done it! Thank you! Your weapon was the way to go for me!
Gepetto really be wanting to make a God soup
Great work. It’s great to see various viable strategies for these bosses. I watched one where literally every attack was perfect guarded, and this is equally as impressive.
I haven't been able to win this boss fight for a week, what is the best solution?
Amazing
Is this Strat even possible on current patch cause I've been trying this for quite awhile and anytime I run he always catches up and I gotta perfect guard or take damage. Second phase is insane. It is nice there is a challenging boss in this game though that I don't beat in 10 15 trys
I can’t run…he just adjusts or double lunges. Can’t stay away from him even if i try on ng+2
What was your vigor stat at?
13:37 It's *_LEET!!!_* 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really appreciate the minimization of sprinting and dodging when possible, so much just walking away or out of attacks. Glorious.
Bro im still stuck on the bishop
Can u share your build stats and amulets used for this fight? This is the only boss I have had trouble with. Thanks
They are literally at the end of the video...
👏👏👏👏👏👏
NG+?
What happens if you give your heart to gepetto?
That would be the other ending, shown here
Spoiler:
He turns you into a real boy, and you turn everyone else into a puppet: ruclips.net/video/lTdhtx7IoH8/видео.html
I see u hv +10 electric but u barely taking damage from attacks ig it’s from p organs
Hey hey hey run for your life
No Parry????
Least skilled run 😂
so he's basically like Zoro from one piece in his second form
Also your kind of wrong about the endings in your description as I let Sophia have peace and I told manus I let Sophia have peace and i still got the free from the puppet strings ending. The way the endings go is
Rise of P - You need 14 humanity points to where your hair turns white when you let Sophia have peace and then don't give Geppeto your heart and you get that ending. Doesn't even have to be lies. If you listen to records in full or pray at alters. You can also gain humanity
Free from the puppets string - Mix of truths and lies throughout your playthrough and you can still give Sophia peace or let her live her. All that matters is your hair didn't turn white before you decline Geppeto. He then calls you a useless puppet at the end
The ending names don't really make sense to me because I would've thought that Free from the puppets strings is where Carlos turns completely human also being able to lie and disobey his creator and finally letting go of his puppet self but I guess I'm wrong
The main point still stands on how to obtain all 3 is at that key moment, but yeah I should've been a bit clearer that your decisions beforehand can change that (if you didn't gain enough humanity until then). That would still prevent your hair from turning grey, which would give you that ending. Mainly it was that I saw a lot of guides and people seeing you need to tell all truths, and if you gain too much humanity you can't get that ending. But regardless of having the highest possible humanity, you can still obtain the Free from the puppet strings ending based on those decisions at that point
@@Esoterickk So even if your hair is white the free from the puppet strings ending is still possible? Great fight by the way!
@@nortorius Once your hair turns grey, you won't be able to get the Free From the Puppet Strings ending. Your hair turning grey is what dictates whether you'll get the Rise of P ending or the Free From the Puppet Strings ending. Your hair turns grey if you both have high enough humanity, and if you choose the "Give Sophia Peace" ending. If you don't have enough humanity, your hair won't turn grey. And if your humanity is high but you choose the "Let Sophia Live" option, your hair won't turn grey.
@@Esoterickk Thank you for your response! Strangely enough, I was able to secure the free from the puppet strings ending even with grey hair. I'm not sure at what point my hair turned grey. Perhaps it was grey all along, since this was in NG+. I let Sophia live and told Simon that I liberated her from Arche Abbey, and refused to give my heart to Geppetto. After defeating the Nameless Puppet I got that ending thankfully. I was able to win against NG+ Nameless Puppet by following your method. Cheers to you and thanks again!
@@nortorius yeah in NG+ the hair is just a skin. The hair being turned grey in NG is the trigger, you can still change form and get that ending.
Ur nuts😭😭😭
For me this boss was rly easy compared to Manus before :D
Exact opposite for me 😂
for me manus and this one were the 2 easiest boss fights in the game no kidding
manus 2nd try and this 1st, all other bosses took me like 10 tries or few hours
(this is my first soulslike)
@@xXRedErrorXx what was your weapon? And amulets used?
@@WorldBeater123 weapon: trident
Amulets: max stamina, stamina recovery and weight limit
Defense highest possible physical and slash reduction
Weight 53%
@@xXRedErrorXx i use the same amulets 🤣. What’s your level
Now do it with the weakest weapon in the game.
This is the fight that made me quit for good. I just got way too burnt out, the game started getting too tedious, I didn't feel like I was getting better, rather I was just forced to memorize timings rather than being able to play intuitively like other souls-likes. Then I got to this fight, and that was it for me. Also no one can clarify this, but was this boss weak to lightning or acid? I've heard both, and no one seems to agree.
I heard acid is the best for phase 1. no idea about anything else lmao. i'm stuck on this boss completely.
He's a puppet so he's weak to lightning. Acid will be effective but pandemonium is too risky and slow for this fight. The option is always there to be a good boy and give your heart ;)
LOL git gud
I'm gonna do 1 more fight and if I die im just gonna give him my heart and uninstall after I get credits, sick and tired of playing this game, back to Cyberpunk a much easier game :D
@@lTheRealKJl I spent 3 days on him, got him down to 1 hit away from death in phase 2 and it did the grab attack from across the arena while I was healing, then followed up with a never-ending combo so I died. I gave my heart after that and uninstalled lol. This is the only souls-like I played where I had 0 desire for NG because it was so tedious/exhausting.
That's a cool reference to the nameless king from dark souls 3
